Stolen vehicle from Yellowwood Park recovered in KwaMakhutha
A swift response by Blue Security's tactical unit led to the recovery of the vehicle after it was taken from a Heron Way property.
In a statement, Blue Security said while their officer was patrolling along Mfundi Mngadi Road near the KwaMakhutha cemetery, he noticed newly placed bricks blocking a small side road.
'The bricks had not been there minutes earlier. Upon further investigation, he found more bricks obstructing the same road and spotted a white vehicle with its passenger door open. As he approached, the suspect fled on foot into the cemetery and disappeared from sight,' read the statement.
According to the statement, the vehicle had already been severely stripped inside.
'The officer immediately called for assistance from Blue Security's tactical ambassador, who arrived promptly on scene. The command centre was contacted and, in real-time, confirmed that the vehicle had just been reported stolen from a residence on Heron Way, Yellowwood Park,' read the statement.

'The vehicle was handed over to KwaMakhutha SAPS for further investigation, and a case was officially opened at Montclair police station,' the statement read.

This comes as reports surfaced alleging that taxi operators were preventing private motorists from transporting their families, with some claims extending to parents and teachers being stopped from taking children to school in certain provinces. Santaco has strongly rejected these allegations, emphasising that it has never instructed such actions and condemning any unlawful conduct in the strongest terms. Santaco spokesperson Mmatshikhidi Rebecca Phala clarified that taxi services, like all paid-for transport, remain a voluntary choice for commuters and that only law enforcement has the authority to regulate transport. She urged members of the public to report any incidents of harassment or intimidation directly to the authorities. Brazil asks Meta to remove chatbots that 'eroticize' children
Brazil's government has asked US technology giant Meta to rid its platforms of chatbots that mimic children and can make sexually suggestive remarks, the attorney general's office (AGU) announced Monday. Users of Meta's platforms, which include Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, can create and customize such bots using the company's generative artificial intelligence, AI Studio. The AGU said in a statement that Meta must "immediately" remove "artificial intelligence robots that simulate profiles with childlike language and appearance and are allowed to engage in sexually explicit dialogue." It denounced the "proliferation" of such bots in what it called an "extrajudicial notice" sent to Meta last week, adding that they "promote the eroticization of children." The document cited several examples of sexually charged conversations with bots pretending to be minors. The AGU's request does not include sanctions, but the agency said it had reminded Meta that online platforms in Brazil must take down illicit content created by their users, even without a court order. It comes at a time of outrage in the South American nation over a case of alleged child sexual exploitation by Hytalo Santos, a well-known influencer who posted content on Instagram featuring partially naked minors taking part in suggestive dances. Santos was arrested last week as part of an investigation into "exposure with sexual connotations" to adolescents, and his Instagram account is no longer available.

Pretoria CBD car theft suspect denied bail
A 40-year-old man, suspected of vehicle theft, was denied bail at the Pretoria Magistrate's court on August 18. The case has been referred for further investigation. He was arrested at the corner of Paul Kruger and Visagie streets on August 15. Police spokesperson Constable Thabang Nkhumise said, 'The arrest comes after the two officers of the crime prevention unit spotted a white Nissan bakkie driving recklessly. The driver noticed the police were pursuing him, and in an attempt to flee, he collided with a delivery truck. The car was cornered, and as the members searched, they noticed broken implements inside the vehicle.' When the suspect was brought to the station, it was discovered that he was no stranger to encounters with law enforcement. 'Upon arrival at the station, the person's identification verification was conducted. It was discovered that he had been previously arrested for numerous cases ranging from rape, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of house-breaking implements, car hijacking, and reckless and negligent driving in the past,' Nkhumise added. Station Commander Brigadier Hlengani Mashaba welcomed the arrest by his officers and urged residents to be cautious of where they leave their vehicles parked in the inner city. He continued, 'We believe that this might lead to a recovery of some… stolen motor vehicles, and even finding a syndicate.'
