
‘KPop Demon Hunters' Manages A Rare Streaming Feat
KPop Demon Hunters dominates Billboard's Streaming Songs chart this week — and not just because its lead single appears at No. 1.
'What It Sounds Like" Reaches the Top 10
'What It Sounds Like,' from the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack, enters the top 10 on the Streaming Songs chart for the first time as it dances from No. 11 to No. 10. That ascent is a minor one, but a very important one, as the album it's featured on manages an incredible showing on one of Billboard's most competitive rosters.
KPop Demon Hunters Fills Half of the Top 10
As 'What It Sounds Like' improves and hits the top 10, tracks from KPop Demon Hunters fill half of all the spaces inside the top 10 on the Streaming Songs ranking. Five tunes featured on the soundtrack now appear inside the region, which is relatively uncommon for any full-length — even those by superstars — and especially so when it comes to movie soundtracks.
'Golden' Holds at No. 1
'Golden' is once again the No. 1 most-streamed track in America. Including 'What It Sounds Like,' four other KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack cuts don't just live inside the top 10 on the Streaming Songs chart, they climb to never-before-seen highs, as 'Your Idol,' 'Soda Pop,' and 'How It's Done' lift to Nos. 3 and 6, respectively.
'Free' and 'Takedown' May Reach the Top 10 Soon
The album almost commands even more real estate inside the top 10 on the Streaming Songs chart, and in the coming weeks, the 50% that it claims at the moment could grow. Two other KPop Demon Hunters tunes, 'Free' and 'Takedown,' appear just beneath the uppermost tier as those tracks step up to Nos. 11 and 12, respectively.
Hunter/X and Saja Boys Rule
All of the songs on the KPop Demon Hunters album are credited to both fictional groups made up for the movie — Hunter/X and Saja Boys — as well as the actors and singers who contribute vocals. Each one of the tunes manages to reach a new peak on at least one or two Billboard lists as well, and while 'Golden' can't climb on several rankings, fellow smashes like 'How It's Done,' 'What It Sounds Like,' 'Takedown,' 'Your Idol,' 'Soda Pop,' and 'Free' all make it to new best showings on the Hot 100 and various other rosters as interest in the Sony Animation project only continues to grow.

Kid Rock Goes ‘Nutz' Over California Gov. Gavin Newsom's Fake Endorsement Poster
California Gov. Gavin Newsom has been on an all-caps roll lately trolling the Trump White House. In a series of cap-locked Truth Social-like screeds, Newsom's press office account has expertly approximated the shouting out the window tone of many of Donald Trump's social missives while taking aim at the President, his administration members and Fox News supporters in satirical screeds on X. But over the weekend Newsom appeared to cross a line when he brought vocal Trump pal Kid Rock into the fray. In a clearly Photoshopped poster mimicking the iconic Uncle Sam Wants You WWI Army recruitment posters, Newsom's team threw up an image of Rock in a red, white and blue top hat and matching suit in front of the American flag with the message 'Kid Rock Wants You to Support Gavin Newsom.' Jack White Rips Donald Trump's ‘Vulgar, Gold-Leafed and Gaudy' White House Makeover, Comparing it To ‘Wrestler's Dressing Room'
Jack White has some thoughts on the gilding of the White House. The rocker who opened a bespoke upholstery shop in Detroit in the mid 1990s before launching his music career — and who has long had a keen eye for visual aesthetics — went scorched earth on Donald Trump's gold-plated makeover of the People's House in a no-holds-barred Instagram post on Tuesday (Aug. 19). 'Look at how disgusting trump has transformed the historic White House. It's now a vulgar, gold leafed and gaudy, professional wrestler's dressing room,' White said of the makeover Trump has rolled out for the White House, which includes all-gold-everything in the Oval Office. 'Can't wait for the UFC match on the front lawn too, he's almost fully achieved the movie Idiocracy,' White added in reference to Trump's plans to hold a ultimate fighting match on the White House grounds next year and the beloved 2006 Mike Judge movie satire of a world in which anti-intellectual, lowest-common-denominator dolts inherit the Earth. 'A gold plated trump bible would look perfect up on that mantle with a pair of trump shoes on either side wouldn't it?' White wrote. 'What an embarrassment to American history. Also pictured in this photograph, a REAL leader of a nation in a black suit.' The post featured a photo of Trump meeting with Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskyy this week in the dizzyingly filigreed Oval Office. In keeping with the wrestling metaphor, White House communications director Steven Cheung attempted his own smack down of the 12-time Grammy-winning rocker who is slated to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the White Stripes in November. 'Jack White is a washed-up, has-been loser posting drivel on social media because he clearly has ample time on his hands due to his stalled career,' Cheung told The Daily Beast. 'It's apparent he's been masquerading as a real artist, because he fails to appreciate, and quite frankly disrespects, the splendor and significance of the Oval Office inside of 'The People's House.'' At press time it appeared White had not responded to Cheung's comments. In May, photo editor and creative consultant Emily Keegin wrote an essay in The New York Times entitled 'Trump's Oval Office is a Gilded Rococo Nightmare. Help,' in which she noted that in 2017 journalist Peter York referred to Trump's shiny aesthetic as 'dictator chic,' likening the former reality TV star's New York penthouse style to that of late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi's opulent, garish mansions. In the commentary, Keegin described the 14K White House redesign as, 'a parade of golden objects that march across the mantel, relegating the traditional Swedish ivy to a greenhouse. Gilded Rococo wall appliqués, nearly identical to the ones at Mr. Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate, are stuck to the fireplace and office walls with the same level of aesthetic consideration a child gives her doll's face before covering it in nail polish.'
