Maxim's 'unsexiest women' list surfaces with surprising first-place winner

New York Post14 hours ago
More like 'unsexy and the city.'
Online viewers are ripping on a controversial 18-year-old Maxim article that listed the most 'unattractive' women in showbiz — with 'Sex And The City' star Sarah Jessica Parker topping the Mount Rushmore of alleged off-putting celebs. The unflattering ranking came to light via a Reddit post raising eyebrows online.
'In 2007, Maxim thought it was clever to publish a list of 'Unsexiest Women Alive',' the original poster wrote. 'Here are the 5 women they selected.'
SJP was named the 'unsexiest woman alive' with the men's mag describing her as the 'least sexy woman in a group of very unsexy women,' per an article in Today. 'How the hell did this [horse] Barbaro-faced broad manage to be the least sexy woman in a group of very unsexy women and still star on a show with 'sex' in the title?' it read, per news.com.au.
5 'Am I really the unsexiest woman in the world?' spluttered Sarah Jessica Parker while reacting to the unflattering list in an interview with Grazia magazine.

Coming in second in this not-hot 100 was Amy Winehouse. The 'Rehab' singer, who died four years later of alcohol poisoning, was lambasted for her supposed 'openly hemorrhaging translucent skin, rat's nest mane and lashes that look more like surgically attached bats.'
'Grey's Anatomy' star Sandra Oh placed third on this famous person 'face mash,' which the Maxim scribes attributed to her 'cold bedside manner and boyish figure.'
'Self-righteous bellyaching and rapid postnuptial deterioration' landed pop sensation Madonna in fourth place, per the article, which compared her to 'Nosferatu' actor Willem Defoe.
Britney Spears, who was in the throes of her highly publicized meltdown at the time, rounded out the so-called cosmetically catastrophic quintet due to her weight gain and turbulent personal life.

Maxim derided the pop princess as 'filling chicken-grease-stained sweatpants on the cover of every trashy tabloid and gossip blog on the Internet' and having 'gained two kids, two useless ex-husbands, and about 23 pounds of Funyun pudge,' per Pajiba.com.
The body-shaming hit list came out as a veritable aesthetic Razzie Awards to their Hot 100 list, which was released earlier that year. Coming in first place on the 'sexiest woman' rankings was Lindsay Lohan, followed by Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johansson and Christina Aguilera.

Thankfully, even the oft-merciless Reddit legions were horrified by the derogatory piece. 'Excuse the f–k out of me?' spluttered one Redditor, while another wrote, 'Never understood the criticism for SJP's looks.'
'All these women are hot? Wtf,' exclaimed a third.
Some chalked up the list to the ridiculous beauty standards of the aughts.
'We don't talk enough about how ridiculously cruel the 2000s were to women's bodies,' said another. 'Jessica Simpson could not dare to add half a pound without some low life tabloid turning it to the headline.'
5 Meanwhile, 'self-righteous bellyaching and rapid postnuptial deterioration' landed pop sensation Madonna in fourth place on the list.

'So, two Jewish women with prominent noses, an Asian woman, a 49-year-old woman, and a woman who had recently aged out of her sexy-baby marketing,' rued one critic. 'Let's call it like it is, none of these women fit into the Eurocentric-blonde-hair-button-nose-big-boob-flat-tummy-'good-genes'-barely-legal category, so sadly I'm not surprised.'
Others thought the article was especially hypocritical given how most of the writers behind said countdowns generally weren't easy on the eyes themselves.
'It should be mandatory for anyone who publishes articles like this to post a picture of themselves beside their work,' declared one appalled reader.
Pajiba writer Kayleigh Donaldson pointed out that the article was even reviled at the time, writing that many media outlets deemed it in 'shockingly poor taste and stunningly sexist' despite celeb body-shaming being in vogue.
'Everyone engaged in this circle of human bear-baiting, with this handful of women held up as the acceptable targets,' she wrote. 'The word 'trainwreck' had never been more utilized in the media vernacular.'
Sarah Jessica Parker spoke out about how much the article upset her.
'Am I really the unsexiest woman in the world?' the actress said in an interview with Grazia magazine, the Daily Mail reported. 'Wow! It's kind of shocking.'
She added, 'It's so brutal in a way, so filled with rage and anger.'

Tracking the NYC Restaurants in ‘And Just Like That...' Season 3, Episode 11

is a born-and-raised New Yorker who is an editor for Eater's Northeast region and Eater New York, was the former Eater Austin editor for 10 years, and often writes about food and pop culture. And just like that, HBO Max's Sex and the City sequel series returns for its third season. And Just Like That... brings back our long-time New Yorkers Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte (Kristin Davis), as well as relative newcomers Seema (Sarita Choudhury) and Lisa (Nicole Ari Parker), to our televisions and laptops. What is summer without our gals talking candidly about sex, making bad puns, and dining and drinking around the city? Like previous seasons, Eater will be tracking where the gang is eating across New York City, from brunch sessions to romantic dinners to cocktail dates. This guide will be updated weekly when each episode airs on Thursdays at 9 p.m., leading up to the finale. And we're saying it now: there will be spoilers ahead. Episode 11, 'Forgot About the Boy ' Before we proceed: This will be our penultimate restaurant recap since And Just Like That... is, and just like that, ending. Thanks for the memories and innuendos, the ladies of the Sex and the City sequel. And now, this second-to-last-ever episode of the series takes Carrie on a nostalgic and existential tour through her life. She's told people don't like women being alone, according to her book agent (which is very obvious foreshadowing of the finale's plot). She's also thinking about how she lives in a huge Gramercy Park house by herself and even goes to revisit her old Upper East Side apartment. Le Petite Pie Unknown For the life of me, I cannot figure out what this pie bakery is in New York City. My gut believes that it's an existing bakery with a different name (much like how Cafe Boulud was renamed the fictional Pelican earlier this season). Alas, if any reader can help me figure it out, I'll eat a slice of pie in your honor. Anyway, Carrie is ordering a lot of pies for Thanksgiving — her go-to gift — including classic cherry, pecan, two pumpkins, lemon meringue, blueberry, apple crisp, chocolate cream, and, what she describes as later, a 'gluten-free something pretending to be a pie.' A customer overhears and interrupts her, saying that she thought that pie orders were closed. The staffer responds, saying that Carrie can do anything she wants because she's a loyal customer and accuses the interrupter of being just a 'two croissants a week at best' person. As Carrie walks away from the bakery, she talks to Miranda on the phone, who says that Carrie ordered way too many pies and that it's 'two people per pie.' Carrie asks, 'Is that the incorrect pie-to-person ratio? I don't bake.' The actual correct answer is one pie per person, because life is short. 283 West 12th Street at West Fourth Street, Greenwich Village Seema really, really, really loves chef Angie Mar's upscale French restaurant — this is its third appearance this season. This time, she's back at the bar with Carrie, sipping cocktails. Seema wants to pay for drinks since she's backing out of the Thanksgiving dinner party at Miranda's, Carrie refuses to accept, and insists she'll pay. Seema complains about going to Thanksgiving with her hot gardener boyfriend Adam (they had just said 'I love you' to each other) and his family, bemoaning that 'they're vegan and gluten-free' and that she's 'passing up a delicious drumstick for Tofurkey.' Now we're cued up for the series finale of And Just Like That… next week, which will presumably take place on Thanksgiving, full of pies and Harry's favorite focaccia-oyster-fresh sage stuffing he's fond of, apparently. ‘And Just Like That' teases Carrie Bradshaw's ending

Carrie Bradshaw might not get a 'happily ever after' ending. On Aug. 1, Sarah Jessica Parker made the shocking announcement that the 'Sex and the City' spinoff, 'And Just Like That,' would abruptly end with Season 3 – so, when the series airs its finale on Aug. 14, it will be the end of the road for Carrie, who has been on-screen since 1998. The penultimate episode of 'And Just Like That,' (which premiered Aug. 7 and is now streaming on HBO Max) had strong hints as to how the 'Sex and the City' universe will ultimately wrap up Carrie's love life. Advertisement 9 Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis in 'Sex and the City' in 2002. Getty Images Spoilers below for 'And Just Like That' Season 3, episode 11. During the penultimate episode, Carrie (Parker) meets with her editor, Amanda (Ashlie Atkinson), to discuss her novel, which is about a woman in the 1800s. Advertisement Although Amanda is enthusiastic about Carrie's novel, she's confused, as she thinks the final chapter is missing. 9 Kristin Davis, Sarah Jessica Parker and Cynthia Nixon in 'And Just Like That…' GC Images Carrie assures her, 'You have the last chapter…That's the last page. After her love dies, she's in the garden alone,' she says. Carrie is talking about the heroine in her book, but the show is obviously being meta about how her story should end, as her longtime love, Big (Chris Noth), died at the beginning of 'And Just Like That.' Advertisement The editor tells Carrie, 'I'm a happy ending gal. What you've written is a romantic tragedy.' Carrie pushes back, wondering how a woman alone in a garden is a 'tragedy.' Amanda then tells Carrie, 'A woman alone at the end would be a tragedy, would it not?' 9 Chris Noth as Mr. Big, and Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie in 'And Just Like That' Season 1. GC Images This is clearly the show musing over how Carrie's story should end. Advertisement Carrie then meets with her friends Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) to mull over her meeting with her editor. She complains that her editor and publisher think that a story ending with a woman alone is too 'tragic,' but she says, 'I like the ending, I thought it was honest.' 9 Sarah Jessica Parker in 'And Just Like That.' Max Does this mean that after years of going through romantic escapades on 'Sex and the City' and 'And Just Like That,' Carrie will end up alone, with no 'happily ever after?' Maybe, but not so fast. The episode ends with Carrie writing an epilogue to her novel. In it, her heroine gets a letter from a friend, inviting her to attend a party to celebrate the return of her cousin. Carrie takes pains to specify that this man, whom her heroine will soon meet, is a 'handsome widower.' 9 Sarah Jessica Parker in 'And Just Like That.' Max So, in Carrie's novel, her heroine will end up alone, but with the implication that there's a new man in her future. Advertisement Does this mean Carrie may have a similar ending? Time will tell, as the last episode lands on HBO Max on Aug 14. Carrie had rekindled her romance with Aidan (John Corbett) before calling it quits. The most recent man in her life was her neighbor, Duncan (Jonathan Cake), but it was implied he was a passing fling, as he's leaving New York soon. 9 Sarah Jessica Parker with John Corbett in 'And Just Like That.' HBO MAX Advertisement 9 Jonathan Cake as Duncan and Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie in 'And Just Like That.' HBO 'And Just Like That' was reportedly not canceled. When Parker announced that it would end with Season 3, showrunner Michael Patrick King also posted his own announcement on social media. 'While I was writing the last episode of 'And Just Like That…' season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop,' he wrote. Advertisement 9 Kristin Davis, Sarah Jessica Parker and Cynthia Nixon in 'And Just Like That.' HBO Referring to Parker, King said, 'SJP and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn't want the word 'final' to overshadow the fun of watching the season.' Despite his claims that ending the show is his choice, ratings had been dwindling, with the Season 3 premiere averaging a paltry 429,000 households during the live-plus-three-day viewership window, according to Forbes. The show has also faced backlash over its choice to start by killing Big. Advertisement 9 Kristin Davis, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon in 2000. Getty Images Fans have also slammed 'And Just Like That' over seemingly careless writing resulting in plot holes – such as the show appearing to kill off one character's father twice – and characters such as Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez), who fans slammed as a 'woke' caricature. Plus, as original 'Sex and the City' star Kim Cattrall didn't return to 'And Just Like That,' things just weren't the same without Samantha Jones.

And Just Like That…: Here's What We Want to See for Each Character Before the Show Ends

Pour us another round of cosmos, because we're preparing ourselves to say goodbye to the ladies of And Just Like That. HBO Max's Sex and the City sequel series is officially ending after three seasons — which means we only have two episodes left with Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and the rest of the gang. (The series finale airs Thursday, Aug. 14 at 9/8c.) And there are plenty of loose plot threads still hanging out there, so showrunner Michael Patrick King and the writers will have to work hard to come up with a pair of final episodes that will wrap everything up in a nice, chic bow. More from TVLine Casting News: 9-1-1: Nashville Books Kane Brown, Patrick Dempsey's Fox Drama Adds 2 and More Sarah Jessica Parker and Her Co-Stars Offer Emotional Tributes as And Just Like That Reveals End Date And Just Like That... Shocker: Sex and the City Revival to End With Season 3 at HBO Max So we here at TVLine thought we'd do some of the heavy lifting for them. (As longtime Sex and the City fans, we feel certain we're qualified.) Below, we've laid out exactly what we need to see from each major character on And Just Like That before the curtain falls for good — and that includes the return of a few familiar faces from the past. Read on to see our wish list for And Just Like That's farewell, and then hit the comments to tell us what you want to see in the final two episodes. Carrie She already said goodbye to Aidan, so we don't have to worry about her making that mistake again. And she does have solid chemistry with her fellow writer Duncan. We're most excited, though, about her new journey as a novelist. So we'd love it if Carrie's new book became a sensation and took her to London, where she could cozy up with Duncan — and also reunite with a certain someone… Samantha Hello, fabulous! The fact that Duncan lives in London gives And Just Like That the perfect excuse to bring back fellow London resident Samantha for a much-needed reunion. It just wasn't the same without Samantha Jones around, and a Kim Cattrall cameo in the finale (however brief) would help it feel like a proper send-off — not just to this show but to Sex and the City, too. Miranda We've been liking her low-key romance with Joy so far — a lot more than her volatile hook-up with Che, anyway — and we wouldn't mind seeing those two get a happy ending. But we still have a soft spot for Steve: It'd be nice to see him and Miranda mend fences and spend some time together with Brady as a family before And Just Like That signs off for good. (And no, yelling at Brady for getting a girl pregnant doesn't count.) Charlotte Yes, we're happy her husband Harry is cancer-free, and Charlotte seems content balancing her work at the art gallery with her life at home being a mom. But mostly, we want to see Charlotte step into the spotlight a little more in the final two episodes and push for her own happiness, rather than just being a dutiful housewife or a supportive shoulder for Carrie to cry on. This woman has feelings, too! We've known that since way back in the Sex and the City days, and we'd like to see a little of that old sparkle again. Seema Seema is the most compelling new character And Just Like That gave us, so it's a shame that we have to say goodbye to her so soon. But we're enjoying the unlikely romance she's having with landscaper Adam, and we'd love to see that love, um, bloom in the final two episodes. Plus, she needs to sign a big client and get her new firm on track. Lisa Michelle Obama needs to show up and make a cameo in the final two episodes, if only to justify all the talk about her being a part of Lisa's long-gestating documentary. And no, we don't need to see Lisa have a fling with her editor Marion. She's too dedicated to her family to do anything that impulsive. Anthony He already has his happily-ever-after all sewn up with that Italian stallion Giuseppe, so we just need mom Patti LuPone's approval to seal the deal. But it would be nice to see the show acknowledge his ex (and Carrie's bestie) Stanford, played by the late Willie Garson, one more time before it signs off. Nya Hey, remember her? After two seasons as Miranda's professor pal, Nya dropped off the radar completely in Season 3, so we'd love to see her at least pop in to say hi and get some closure in the final two episodes. Che And as for seeing Miranda's regrettable ex again? Nah, we're good. Let us know what you want to see in the final two episodes with a comment below!
