's delivery that dismissed Gus Atkinson to end the Oval Test, drop everything and watch the highlights reel now. The ball curved in deceptively and went under Atkinson's bat to dismantle his off stump.
Amid the euphoric celebrations that helped India clinch their narrowest Test win, here was another statistic that quietly went unnoticed. That was Siraj's fifth-fastest delivery of the series.
In all, he delivered 185.2 overs over the course of the five Tests, and in the second innings at the Oval, he hurled 30.1 of England's 85.1 overs. So much so, that even in the final ball of the series, he was willing to bend his back and extract every ounce from the fifth-day pitch.

It illustrated the never-say-die attitude and the indefatigable spirit of the Hyderabadi pacer. Siraj would finish the series with 23 scalps and walk away with the Player of the Match award, but there were numerous instances when fate and circumstances were pitted against him.

Be it the time when he kept missing the edge of the bat through the course of the series, or when on Day 4 of the final Test, when he failed to grab the catch off Harry Brook at the boundary.

Despite these setbacks, Miyan bhai, as he is popularly known, carried on undeterred.
Naturally, his childhood coach Mohammed Mahboob Ahmed, who watched Siraj take tentative steps towards becoming Team India's leading pacer, is chuffed about his ward.
'Nothing perturbs him anymore. It doesn't matter if he keeps missing the batter's edge or whether he drops a catch. He keeps bowling with a big heart and a huge smile on his face.
His tough upbringing has hardened him up,' Ahmed, the secretary of Charminar Cricket Club, told TOI.
Siraj's father, late Mohammed Ghouse, was an auto-rickshaw driver, whose unflinching support fuelled Siraj's cricketing aspirations. He put in the hard yards and became a regular during numerous India 'A' tours before finally making his Test debut against Australia in Dec 2020. Ahmed reckoned that the key reason for Siraj's success was his ability to pick wickets at crucial junctures. The searing yorker in the dying moments of Day 3 to dismiss England opener Ben Duckett was a case in point.
'He will always remain relevant for India because he has the X-factor,' he added.
In Jasprit Bumrah's absence, Siraj put his hand up and delivered when it mattered the most.

AUS vs SA: Spectator makes incredible one-handed catch as Tim David smashes Corbin Bosch for six

A fan in the stands takes a catch during the Australia vs South Africa 1st T20I (Images via Getty Images & Screengrab) A fan in the stands stole the spotlight during the Australia vs South Africa T20I at Marrara Cricket Ground, Darwin, on Sunday, pulling off what fans are calling the 'catch of the year. ' The moment came in Australia's innings when Tim David smashed a delivery from Corbin Bosch over the fence. Bosch could only watch in frustration as the ball sailed into the crowd. But instead of landing in the seats, it was caught one-handed by a spectator who also had two cans clutched in his other hand. Cameras quickly zoomed in to capture the brilliant piece of skill and composure, sparking cheers across the ground. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! Earlier, South Africa had won the toss and opted to bowl first. Australia got off to a shaky start, losing Mitchell Marsh to make it 30/3. Tim David then came to the rescue, smashing an 83 off 52 balls to drag his side back from trouble. He was the only batter to truly find rhythm amid the collapse, farming the strike and denying singles to protect the tail. Despite his heroics, Australia were bowled out for 178 in 20 overs. Dwarshuis and Ellis chipped in with handy contributions, while Kagiso Rabada impressed with the new ball, Maphaka's skiddy pace forced mishits, and Muthusamy was outstanding in the middle overs. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Use an AI Writing Tool That Actually Understands Your Voice Grammarly Install Now Undo The innings was a mix of bold hitting and untimely dismissals. Travis Head tried to pierce the off-side against Rabada but fell early. Marsh played one shot too many, Inglis swung without a sighter, Cam Green looked dangerous until undone by a slower ball from Ngidi, and Mitch Owen lost his stumps to a wild swing. Maxwell too fell trying to hit out, leaving Australia reeling at 75/6 before David's counterattack. Poll What did you think of the fan's one-handed catch during the match? Incredible skill! Just lucky, I don't think it was that amazing. Australia's 13 sixes equalled their joint-most in a T20I against South Africa, matching their effort in Durban in 2023. Yet, for many, the standout moment was not a boundary or a milestone, but rather, the calm, one-handed grab by a fan who refused to spill a drop. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli phenomenal in ODIs, should continue if they perform: Sourav Ganguly

Kolkata: Former India captain Sourav Ganguly feels that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli should continue playing ODIs as long as they are performing, given their "phenomenal" record in the fifty-overs format. Reacting to media reports suggesting that the upcoming ODI series in Australia could be the last for the celebrated duo, Ganguly said he was not aware of any such development. Also Read: Is the end near for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as India eye 2027 ODI World Cup? Live Events "It's difficult to say. Whoever does well will play. If they do well, they should continue. Kohli's one-day record is phenomenal, even Rohit Sharma's. Both of them are phenomenal in white-ball cricket," he said during AWL Agri Business Ltd Event. According to reports, the tour of Australia in October could mark the final ODI appearances for the two Indian greats Kohli and Rohit, who have already played their last in T20Is and Tests. The duo have so far remained non-committal on whether they are targeting the 2027 World Cup. India's ODI tour of Australia begins on October 19, with matches scheduled in Perth, Adelaide and Sydney, followed by three home ODIs against South Africa in December. The 2026 calendar features ODI series against New Zealand, Afghanistan, England, the West Indies, and another contest against New Zealand. On the upcoming T20 Asia Cup in Dubai from September 9, Ganguly said the Indian team woulb be the favourties, coming off a much-needed break after the gruelling five Tests in England. "They are in the middle of a break. After the IPL, they played five Tests and now they will play the Asia Cup from September 9. "India are very strong, and if they are strong in red-ball cricket, they are even stronger in white-ball cricket. So, in my opinion, India are favourites, and beating them on those good Dubai wickets will be very tough." Asked about Shubman Gill's prospects as Test captain, Ganguly was in all praise for the young Indian Test skipper: "He's India's Test captain, and his future is full of promise," he said. Ganguly further said he's all set for a second inning in cricket administration and would file nomination. "If members wish, will file nomination (for CAB president's post)," added the former BCCI president, who was CAB president from mid-2015 to October 2019.

AUS vs SA: 19-year-old Rajasthan Royals pacer creates history, becomes first ever to...

Kwena Maphaka (R) of South Africa (Photo by) South Africa's decision to bowl first in Durban looked bold. The conditions were good for batting, the outfield was quick, and Australia's top order had a point to prove. But by the end of the innings, all anyone could talk about was a 19-year-old who tore through them with the ball in hand. Kwena Maphaka, making the most of his youthful energy and skiddy pace, produced a spell for the ages — 4 for 20, the best figures ever by a South African in T20Is against Australia. What made it special wasn't just the wickets, but how he got them. He kept the ball straight and quick, forcing batters into uncomfortable strokes, and never allowed Australia to dictate terms. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! It all started with Kagiso Rabada setting the tone, removing Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh early. From there, Maphaka stepped in, knocking over Mitchell Owen with a ball that whistled through, and later removing the dangerous Ben Dwarshuis and Adam Zampa in quick time. For a moment, it looked like Australia might crumble completely — they were 75 for 6 after just 7 overs. But Tim David had other ideas. He played the lone warrior, stepping out to Rabada for a towering six second ball and then farming the strike like a seasoned campaigner. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Costco Shoppers Say This Fat-Burning Patch Triggers Weight Loss "Unlike Any Other" Health Advice Today Undo While wickets fell around him, David muscled his way to 83 off 52 balls, hitting cleanly and cleverly to push the total to a competitive 178. Poll Who was the most impactful player during the match? Kwena Maphaka Kagiso Rabada Tim David Others David's defiance kept the scoreboard ticking, but Maphaka's magic meant Australia never fully recovered. At 19, he showed the temperament of a veteran and the hunger of someone at the very start of his journey. If this is what he can do now, South African cricket might just have found their next big star. Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!
