The Bachelor alum Bekah Martinez defends going SEVEN years without shaving body hair

Daily Mail4 days ago
The Bachelor #22 alum Bekah Martinez clapped back at a troll who said her fiancé of three years, Grayston Leonard, 'must be grossed out' by her hairy legs and arm pits.
'I stopped shaving seven years ago and I still get messages like this all the time,' the 30-year-old reality star - who boasts 1M social media followers - wrote on Tuesday.
'And for the record, Gray went to a liberal arts college in Oregon, so he's had his fair share of gross razor-less women.'
Bekah (born Rebekah) went on to explain in her body-positivity Instagram slideshow that 'teachers and coaches would gently tease [me] when any of my jet black leg stubble was growing out' which 'reinforce that my [body] hair was wrong.'
Martinez made the decision to go all-natural in 2018 while she was pregnant with her first child.
'I wanted my daughter (and my future sons) to see that hair on a woman's body is normal. Not shameful. Not gross,' the Bekah & Friends podcaster explained.
'I wanted to demonstrate that body hair is not "masculine," because I am a woman. And so, my body hair is feminine.'
And it wasn't just for her children as Bekah 'wanted to consciously work through the disgust I had in my natural body.'
'I still don't love my body hair,' Martinez confessed.
'In certain settings, I feel people's stares and feel embarrassed. But the feeling has so much less power over me than it used to. And when [my daughter] Ruth points and says, "Mom, my legs look like yours" without any ounce of shame, it is all worth it.'
The Bravo-lebrity shares three children - daughter Ruth, 6; son Franklin, 5; and son Ernest, 21 months - with the 35-year-old Long Beach Rising Climbing Gym founder, whom she originally began dating in January 2018.
Bekah and Grayston raise rabbits for meat and chickens for eggs in their LA backyard.
Martinez last made headlines in 2023 for revealing she was putting her little Ernest 'on the potty' at nine weeks old.
Career-wise, the former nanny is every bit the influencer with paid partnerships for brands like Araza Beauty, Brook Linen, Club Med Cancun, Osea Malibu, My Favorite Genes, and Natural Cycles.
Bekah made history in 2018 as the first pixie-haired woman to compete on The Bachelor, and she was the seventh contestant eliminated by Arie Luyendyk Jr. in season 22 of the ABC dating competition.
The 43-year-old real estate broker went on to marry his runner-up Lauren Burnham in 2019 and they're now proud parents of six-year-old daughter Alessi as well as four-year-old twin sons Senna and Lux.
The Bachelor franchise doesn't exactly have the best track record for lasting marriages as only three couples have remained together after 29 seasons.
Only four couples remain married from The Bachelorette after 21 seasons while the odds are far better on Bachelor in Paradise where 10 couples remain married after 10 seasons.

Enzo Fernandez's partner leads Chelsea WAGs in flocking to the US to cheer on their partners in Club World Cup final as they take in the New York sights before kick off

Chelsea WAGs have descended on New York as their partners prepare for this evening's Club World Cup final. The Blues jetted off to the USA last month to take part in the inaugural edition of FIFA's premier club tournament since it was revamped to include 32 teams. Since then, Enzo Maresca 's side have progressed through the group stages and subsequently defeated the likes of Benfica, Palmeiras and Fluminense to book their place in the final. Their opponents at the MetLife Stadium on Sunday are a PSG side awash with confidence after entering the tournament just one month after being crowned Champions League winners for the first time in their history. Luis Enrique's side have been utterly dominant throughout the Club World Cup, and have conceded just once in their run to the final. Ahead of the landmark clash, a number of Chelsea stars have been joined by their partners as they have taken in the sights and enjoyed some precious downtime between games in the United States. It is understood that many of the group flew out once Chelsea reached the knockout stages as the club held a team bonding BBQ at their Miami base. Since then, a number of the WAGs, including Enzo Fernandez's girlfriend Valentina Cervantes have remained with the group as they moved on to New York to prepare for Sunday's final. On Saturday Cervantes shared a snap of herself watching a Blues training session as Maresca put his finishing touches on the game plan for the clash with Les Parisiens. Meanwhile, the partners of Pedro Neto, Marc Cucurella and Filip Jorgensen took to the streets of the Big Apple to do some sightseeing. Neto's girlfriend, Carolina Cunha e Silva, even donned a baseball jersey adorned with the Portuguese foward's name as the Blues defeated Fluminense. Cole Palmer also took in some of the famous sights, with the England international pictured in full Blues kit atop the famous Rockefeller Center in Midtown Manhattan. Reports suggest that Maresca has offered his players a high degree of freedom throughout the competition. Maintaining professionalism has remained an imperative, but the players have been entrusted to enjoy some downtime following an arduous campaign. In addition, the club are said to have brought in FA staff to organise the team's camp including accommodation and activities for the players' families. Meanwhile Cole Palmer ascended the city's iconic Rockefeller Center for a photoshoot Speaking ahead of the clash with PSG, Maresca revealed he intends on treating the upcoming fixture 'like a chess match' and called Luis Enrique's side, 'the best team in the world'. 'I love to play chess and watch chess,' Maresca explained. 'I feel football is like a game of chess and when the rival makes a move, you have to counteract it and I think this will be like a chess game. 'They [PSG] are a top team in Europe and the world, maybe the best in the world, but every game is different and we will try to do a good game. 'For sure it will be difficult, but all games are difficult. Fluminense beat Inter and they reached the Champions League final; Al Hilal beat Manchester City. 'Botafogo beat PSG in this competition and did a very good job, but our style is different to Botafogo. 'PSG is best team in world and they have showed that in this tournament, showed it in France and in the Champions League. Of course it'll be a difficult game for us, but we are preparing ourselves in best way possible.

Scrubs returning to screens with original cast 15 years later... and the stars all look VERY different

The popular medical sitcom Scrubs is coming back to television with its original cast, but 15 years since the final season, the stars of the show looks very different now. ABC - which aired the show's last two seasons - announced earlier this week that the beloved show was getting a reboot, per CNN. The new series will be broadcast in 2025-2026, according to the outlet. Fan-favorite cast members Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, and Donald Faison will all be returning for the revival. Amidst the exciting news, FEMAIL has taken a look into just how much the original Scrubs cast has changed over the last decade and a half. Zach, 50, who played the lovable John Michael 'J.D.' Dorian has continued acting and directing. He starred in and directed the critically acclaimed indie hit Garden State, and more recently appeared in the TV show Shrinking, alongside Jason Segel and Harrison Ford. He also directed A Good Person in 2023, which starred Florence Pugh and Morgan Freeman. According to Deadline, the negotiations to talk Zach into returning had some major hiccups along the way. One sticking point was the actor and filmmaker's wish not to shoot the reboot in Vancouver, Canada, as was being proposed, presumably as a cost-cutting measure. However, Zach reportedly insisted on keeping the series in Los Angeles. After Scrubs, Sarah, 48, best known as Dr. Elliot Reid, went on to star in How I Met Your Mother and lent her voice to the animated show Rick and Morty. She most recently co-led the Netflix drama Firefly Lane alongside fellow TV doctor, Katherine Heigl. J.D.'s hilarious best friend, Turk, was played by Donald, 51. The actor has remained a fan favorite with roles in The Exes and Emergence. He also voiced characters in Star Wars Resistance and co-hosted the hit Fake Doctors, Real Friends podcast with Zach, revisiting their Scrubs days. More of the original cast are expected to return; however, it has not been revealed who else we can expect to see again. Scrubs director Bill Lawrence told CNN: 'Scrubs means so very much to me. So excited for the chance to get the band back together.' Writer Tim Hobert and director Aseem Batra will be executive producers and showrunners on the new season, per Variety. Bill will be executive producing via Doozer Productions along with Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer. The three main cast members - Zach, Sarah, and Donald - are also executive producers in addition to starring. Scrubs had a nine-season run from 2001 to 2010 and told the story of J.D., a young doctor working at the fictional Sacred Heart Hospital. His best friend from college, Turk, played by Donald, and his on-off love interest Elliot, portrayed by Sarah, are fellow doctors at the hospital. In the reboot, 'JD and Turk scrub together for the first time in a long time,' according to the synopsis shared with CNN. 'Medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time. Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart, and some surprises along the way.' Bill has been teasing a reboot of the popular show for years. 'We're definitely going to do it, just because we've all been enjoying hanging out,' he told LadBible in August 2024. 'I think we'll figure it out in the next six months or so, what we want to do.'

Hollywood icon drops out of event after heartbreaking diagnosis as they make announcement from hospital bed

Hollywood icon Richard Dreyfuss has shared a heartbreaking health update with fans as he confirmed that he is too poorly to attend this year's SharkCon. The Jaws star, 77, played Matt Hooper in the award-winning Stephen Spielberg film, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. In a new clip shared to SharkCon's Instagram on Sunday, Richard was tucked up in a hospital bed with a Jaws blanket. Richard looked pale and appeared to struggle when addressing fans heading to the event. Richard said to the camera: 'Hello fellow cons. I am very, very sorry to tell you that I've been diagnosed with, viral, er…What is it?' Off-screen, his wife Svetlana Erokhin confirmed that he was suffering from viral bronchitis, though Richard struggled to repeat the word himself. The SharkCon organisers confirmed to fans in the caption: 'All prepaid autographs and photo ops will automatically be refunded. There is no reason to reach out' Bronchitis is an inflammation of the bronchial tubes, the airways that carry air to your lungs. He continued: 'I've been told by my doctors I cannot fly and I would have to fly five hours to get there. 'I'm terribly sorry because I had planned to be there [at SharkCon] and I had been looking forward to it, but I am unable to do so. I don't want to get anyone else sick, and I don't want to get sicker myself. 'I feel terrible about not showing up and I feel worse about exposing you to this apparently very viral illness. But there will be other times and I will make it my business to show up. 'I want to wish you all good luck and happiness and I want you all to feel very sorry for me, and very sorry for yourselves. I'm in a lot of pain and that has to come first, my health. I feel very good about having the time and enough health.' Svetlana added: 'And such great fans!' as Richard agreed: 'And such great fans.' She said: 'We love you, we miss you all and we will see you soon. 'That's my wife saying that!' Richard explained. 'She's right, she knows how to do this. So good luck, happy health, happy con – bye!' The SharkCon organisers confirmed to fans in the caption: 'All prepaid autographs and photo ops will automatically be refunded. There is no reason to reach out. Feel better Richard... sending healing prayers' 'He will always be one of the great actors of his time' Sharon Stone added: 'Honey, feel better. The world is not good without you then come over and give me a hug.'
