The event, organised by the department of women and child welfare, was attended by key officials including district SP V Ratna and Puttaparthi MLA Palle Sindhura Reddy. In her address, Dr Shailaja called for a proactive approach to safety. 'Awareness must begin at the school and college level. Instead of reacting only after crimes occur, it is crucial to take preventive steps,' she stated, referencing persistent issues like child marriages, domestic violence, and workplace harassment.
Dr Shailaja urged young women to be courageous and problem-solvers, advising them to download the Disha (Shakti) App for immediate help in emergencies. She cautioned against the misuse of mobile phones and encouraged them to pursue their dreams with determination, calling education the key to success. She also highlighted the responsibility of parents to educate both sons and daughters equally about safety and respect.
Echoing these sentiments, district SP Ratna noted that the police department is also conducting similar awareness programmes and highlighted the availability of the Eagle app and the toll-free number 1972 for quick response to safety complaints.
MLA Palle Sindhura Reddy championed gender equality, reminding the audience that girls are capable of achieving anything, including space missions, and that education is essential to their empowerment.
The programme concluded with the unveiling of a poster supporting women in distress and the release of a book on protecting children in the digital age, reinforcing the multi-faceted approach to ensuring women's welfare in the state.

They don't respect us." Kangana welcomed the formation of District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committees (DISHAs), saying these bodies clarify MPs' roles. 'The job (of an MP) demands a lot of communication. DISHA is a huge step. If we did not have the privilege or power to ask the deputy commissioner or those who clearly work under the state government, it (the position of a parliamentarian) would be a redundant place to be in. It (DISHA) was, I think, created because of this frustration: 'What's our place and work? What are we supposed to do and where?' Minister Narayana Continues Singapore Visit to Study Amaravati Development
SINGAPORE: Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana's official visit to Singapore is underway, focusing on urban development strategies for the upcoming capital city, Amaravati. On Thursday, Minister Narayana, accompanied by CRDA Commissioner Kannababu, held discussions with representatives of Singapore's Land Transport Authority (LTA). The talks centred on establishing efficient road and public transport systems in Amaravati, drawing inspiration from Singapore's advanced infrastructure. The LTA is responsible for the development of public transport, as well as walking and cycling infrastructure in the city-state. The delegation also toured the JTC Poultry Processing Hub, Singapore's first integrated facility for poultry processing. The unit handles everything from live chicken processing to packaging and delivery, and also produces by-products from chicken waste. Minister Narayana noted that the Andhra Pradesh government, under the Disha initiative, plans to establish similar scientifically managed poultry waste processing units in the state. This visit follows the high-profile mission led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, which began on 26 July. CM Naidu, along with ministers Nara Lokesh, TG Bharat, P. Narayana and senior officials, visited Singapore to promote 'Brand AP' and attract foreign investment. During the visit, the delegation met the President of Singapore and held talks with top business leaders, CEOs and industrialists. The discussions highlighted Andhra Pradesh's resources, industrial policies, incentives, and land availability. CM Naidu also extended invitations to potential investors for a global conference scheduled in Visakhapatnam this November. CM Naidu concluded his Singapore visit and returned to Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday, while Minister Narayana's team continues their engagements in the city.

Kompally drug bust: Court rejects bail pleas of intel officer's son, key accused
Hyderabad: A Ranga Reddy district court has rejected the bail petitions of senior intelligence officer's son, Rahul Teja, and the prime accused, Annamaneni Surya, in the Kompally drug bust case. Teja, while seeking bail, claimed innocence and argued that he was falsely implicated in the case solely because of his familial relation to Surya. According to the court order in Surya's bail plea, authorities from the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) alleged that Surya, along with other accused, pooled money to purchase narcotic substances such as cocaine, LSD, and ecstasy, with the intent to distribute them to consumers. Surya's arrest led to the seizure of 10 grams of cocaine, OG ganja, and ecstasy pills. Notably, the drugs were found hidden inside packaged women's footwear. D uring the hearing, Teja's counsel argued that no contraband was recovered from his possession and that his implication was based solely on Surya's confession, allegedly due to their familial relationship. However, the court, after hearing both sides, refused to grant bail. In contrast, the court granted conditional bail to two other accused—Surabhi Jaswanth and D Pavan Kumar—citing a previous high court order under which co-accused Yashwanth Ramana and Navadeep Reddy were released on bail. Meanwhile, the bail applications of two other accused, including P Mohan, son of a DCP-rank officer, and C Harsha, are still under consideration by the Rangareddy district court.
