Kompally drug bust: Court rejects bail pleas of intel officer's son, key accused
Teja, while seeking bail, claimed innocence and argued that he was falsely implicated in the case solely because of his familial relation to Surya.
According to the court order in Surya's bail plea, authorities from the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) alleged that Surya, along with other accused, pooled money to purchase narcotic substances such as cocaine, LSD, and ecstasy, with the intent to distribute them to consumers.
Surya's arrest led to the seizure of 10 grams of cocaine, OG ganja, and ecstasy pills. Notably, the drugs were found hidden inside packaged women's footwear.

The court noted that the quantity of drugs seized exceeded the prescribed 'small quantity' threshold under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and cited the ongoing investigation as grounds to deny bail.
Teja's bail was also rejected, with the court observing that he is a repeat offender.

uring the hearing, Teja's counsel argued that no contraband was recovered from his possession and that his implication was based solely on Surya's confession, allegedly due to their familial relationship. However, the court, after hearing both sides, refused to grant bail.
In contrast, the court granted conditional bail to two other accused—Surabhi Jaswanth and D Pavan Kumar—citing a previous high court order under which co-accused Yashwanth Ramana and Navadeep Reddy were released on bail.
Meanwhile, the bail applications of two other accused, including P Mohan, son of a DCP-rank officer, and C Harsha, are still under consideration by the Rangareddy district court.

Notorious drug peddler arrested after two years on the run
The Delhi police have arrested a 58-year-old woman wanted in a case under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), along with multiple other criminal cases, after she remained absconding for over two years, a senior police official said on Friday. The accused, identified as Meeta, a resident of Nand Nagri in north-east Delhi, was booked in 2023 under MCOCA for her involvement in the illegal trade of alcohol and narcotic substances. Since then, she had been evading arrest. 'She is a known bootlegger and drug peddler, with as many as 20 criminal cases against her,' said DCP (Central) Nidhin Valsan, adding that she was a listed history-sheeter at the Nand Nagri police station. The police received a tip-off that the accused would be arriving near a Delhi Milk Scheme (DMS) booth in central Delhi to meet an associate. A trap was laid, and she was apprehended at the spot, the officer said. During interrogation, Meeta revealed that she entered the world of crime at a young age. Her first arrest came in 1985 under the Excise Act. Since then, she has been booked several times, particularly for dealing in narcotic substances such as charas, Mr. Valsan said. Over the years, she and her associates ran a racket in illegal alcohol and drugs, prompting authorities to invoke the stringent MCOCA against her in 2023. Following the registration of the case, Meeta went underground, frequently changing locations to avoid detection, the officer said. Her criminal record spans charges under the NDPS Act, Excise Act, and various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including drug trafficking, bootlegging, assault, obstruction of public servants, and harbouring proclaimed offenders, the officer added.

Man loses 8L in city's first mobile malware cyber fraud
Lucknow: Lucknow recorded its first case of mobile malware cyber fraud on Friday when a Nishatganj resident alleged that he was duped of Rs 8.70 lakh. Though the crime took place on July 20, the case was lodged only on Friday. Cyber experts said mobile malware cyber fraud is often referred to as an APK (Android Package Kit) scam or remote access trojan (RAT) attack. According to a complaint filed with the Cyber Crime Police Station, the victim received a call on his mobile on July 20 from an unknown number regarding Aadhaar card upgradation. Subsequently, an APK file named " was sent on his WhatsApp, which he downloaded and installed. Shortly after, the victim alleged that his mobile phone was hacked, enabling unauthorised access to his private savings account. Using his debit card, five separate fraudulent transactions were carried out on the same day: Rs 1.99 lakh, Rs 1.99 lakh, Rs 1.98 lakh, Rs 1.50 lakh, and Rs 1.23 lakh. The total siphoned amount stands at Rs 8.70 lakh. The victim also lodged a complaint via the National Cyber Crime Helpline (1930). MDMA worth3.35cr seized in Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer: Police Friday seized MDMA drugs worth approximately Rs 3.35 crore from an SUV near the railway station, making it Jaisalmer's biggest-ever drugs haul. Two people have been arrested in this regard. During interrogation, it was found that Prakash was involved in a prior case under the NDPS Act. The police are now questioning both suspects to uncover the roots of this drugs network. This operation is part of a special campaign to curb illegal . The success is considered a major victory for Jaisalmer police in their efforts to control the drugs trade in the district.
