Sanya Malhotra Celebrates Kathal, Jawan, Sam Bahadur's Triumph At National Awards: ‘It's Rare'

News185 days ago
Sanya Malhotra reacted to her films Kathal, Jawan and Sam Baadur winning big at National Film Awards, and said that the achievement hasn't really sunk in yet.
Bollywood actress Sanya Malhotra is over the moon, as three of her films—Jawan, Kathal, and Sam Bahadur—have won top awards at the 71st National Film Awards. For Sanya Malhotra, this accomplishment is both overwhelming and validating. While Kathal received the award for Best Hindi Feature Film, Shah Rukh Khan was named Best Actor for Jawan, and Sam Bahadur garnered multiple honours, including Best Feature Film Promoting National, Social, and Environmental Values, Best Makeup, and Best Costume Design.
Speaking with Hindustan Times, Sanya Malhotra expressed her delight at learning all three films were honoured. She reflected on the importance of trusting her instincts as an actor, noting that one cannot always predict a project's reception and must rely on what excites and moves them. 'You know when I found out that all three were being honoured with National Awards I had to take a moment. It's rare, and I don't take it for granted at all. It really makes me reflect on how important it is to trust your gut. As an actor, you don't always know how a project will be received, you just go by what moves you, what excites you. And this has just reaffirmed that instinct for me in the most beautiful way," she said.
Leading Kathal holds a special place for Sanya Malhotra. She described the experience as surreal and felt proud of the team's work on a film that began as an unusual, quirky story and achieved significant recognition. 'Honestly it still hasn't sunk in fully. Kathal winning the National Award for Best Hindi Feature Film is just… surreal. To be the face of a film like this that started as such an unusual, quirky story and to see it reach this kind of recognition, it's overwhelming. I'm so proud of the entire team, and I feel incredibly grateful to have been a part of this journey," she shared.
Considering the significance of awards in her career, Malhotra acknowledged that while awards do not define an artist's worth, they bring validation and joy, especially when they are a genuine appreciation of one's work. 'The National Award is just… different. It holds a very special place. It feels like the country acknowledging your work and that's a big, big deal. It's emotional. It's humbling," she expressed.
Sanya Malhotra will next be seen in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari and Bandar, which will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2025, along with another global action-comedy film set to start filming later this year.

War 2 Box Office Day 2: Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR Film Crosses Rs 100 Crore Mark

Last Updated: Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's War 2 crosses Rs 100 crore in two days, beating Rajinikanth's Coolie on day 2 with Rs 55.79 crore earnings. War 2 Box Office Day 2: After a decent start on day 1, Ayan Mukerji's War 2 showed solid growth on its second day at the box office, benefiting from the Independence Day holiday. Starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, the big-budget action entertainer added Rs 55.79 crore on Friday, August 15, taking its India net total to Rs 107.29 crore in just two days. The film's recovery has silenced early doubts after trade analysts criticized its 'subpar" opening of Rs 52.25 crore. With strong audience pull, War 2 now finds itself competing head-to-head with Rajinikanth's Coolie, which stands at Rs 109.8 crore after two days. War 2 Box Office Collection Day 2 On its first day, War 2 collected Rs 29 crore in Hindi and Rs 23.25 crore in Telugu, totaling Rs 52.25 crore. While this would normally be celebrated, expectations were sky-high considering the star power of Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. Many felt the film should have touched Rs 75 crore or even Rs 100 crore on opening day, surpassing the Rs 53 crore debut of War (2019). However, War 2 managed an impressive rebound on day 2, adding Rs 55.79 crore. Crucially, it outperformed Coolie on the same day, which earned Rs 44.8 crore. This shift places War 2 firmly back in the race and makes the coming weekend crucial for both blockbusters. About War 2 and the YRF Spy Universe Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 is a pivotal entry in Yash Raj Films' expanding Spy Universe, which already includes Tiger films and Pathaan. The post-credits sequence teases the introduction of Bobby Deol in Alpha, the next chapter of the franchise starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari. Apart from Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, War 2 features Kiara Advani and Ashutosh Rana in key roles. With a reported budget of over Rs 300 crore, the film will need sustained collections to secure box office success. Despite mixed reviews, the star power of its lead actors and Spyverse branding are driving audiences to theatres. If War 2 maintains momentum over the weekend, it could emerge as one of the biggest films of the year. view comments First Published: August 16, 2025, 05:20 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. 'War 2' box office collection day 2: The Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR starrer crosses Rs 100 crore, sees growth on Independence day, while Rajinikanth's 'Coolie' sees a drop

Hrithik Roshan , Jr NTR , Kiara Advani starrer 'WAR 2' released in theatres on August 14. The film directed by Ayan Mukerji had a good opening on day 1 and that largely also came from the Telugu version of the movie. Clearly, with Jr NTR's presence, the film had a huge market among the Telugu audience, just as much as it had in Hindi. The film has got mixed reviews after day 1, and yet, it saw growth on Independence day . The Hindi version of the movie had made only Rs 29 crore on day 1 while the total collection including the Telugu version was Rs 51.5 crore on the opening day. After starting on a modest note with an opening day haul of roughly ₹29 crore net, War 2 had remarkable recovery in its Hindi version. The film saw a sharp 50% jump in earnings on day two, thanks largely to the Independence Day holiday boost. The film is estimated to have collected ₹43–45 crore net in Hindi on Thursday, taking its two-day Hindi total to around ₹73 crore net. Despite lukewarm critical reviews and a mixed response from audiences online, the film's second-day performance has been impressive. According to Sacnilk, the day 2 collection of the film which saw growth due to Independence day, is Rs 56.50 crore. Thus, it has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark within two days in all languages. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo The total collection at the domestic box office now stands at Rs 56.50 crore. Trade sources believe there may not be a massive surge over the weekend, but 'if the movie manages to hold collection in the same range with marginal growth, it will give it a chance to perform during the weekdays, which needs to be seen.' The spike was fueled by stronger occupancies in key metros and robust evening-to-night show numbers. The holiday effect in certain territories, coupled with steady single-screen turnout in mass markets, also played a big role in the Hindi version's rebound. On the flip side, collections for the Telugu versions dipped on Thursday. Thus, there's been a 10 percent rise from the opening day — suggesting that the film's non-Hindi performance will require close tracking in the days ahead. However, 'WAR 2' has made more numbers on the second day than Rajinikanth 's 'Coolie'. The film had collected Rs 65 crore on day 1 in all langauges and on day 2, the collection as per early estimates is Rs 53.5 crore. Day wise collection of the film: Day 1 [1st Thursday] ₹ 51.5 Cr [Hi: 29 Cr ; Ta: 0.25; Te: 22.25] - Day 2 [1st Friday] ₹ 56.50 Cr * early estimates - Total ₹ 108.00 Cr "Get the latest news updates on Times of India, including reviews of the movie Coolie and War 2 ."
