Anne's milestone 75th birthday marked with new photograph
Anne, who celebrates her three-quarters-of-a-century milestone on Friday, is pictured with an amused smile as she stands near a window outside her Gatcombe Park home.
The King's sister, often hailed as the hardest-working member of the royal family, has eschewed any major public commemorations for her big day, preferring to host a special forum for her charities in June instead.
She is said to be spending the day sailing around the Western Isles of Scotland with her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, and marking her birthday privately.
Ahead of Her Royal Highness's 75th birthday tomorrow, a new picture of The Princess Royal has been released by Buckingham Palace.

The official portrait, taken by celebrated photographer John Swannell last month, shows Anne wearing a clean-lined colour-blocked royal blue dress with a contrasting bright white high collar, matching cuffs and white buttoned central trim.
Anne, who is known for re-wearing her outfits even decades later, was pictured in the same dress at The King's Foundation Awards at St James's Palace in June.
The image captures a relaxed-looking Anne, with her hair self-styled in her signature bouffant, resting her hand on a stone windowsill at Gatcombe.
It was from the princess's Gloucestershire estate just over a year ago that Anne was taken to hospital after she was believed to have been struck by a horse.
She was treated in intensive care for concussion and minor head injuries, spending five nights at Southmead Hospital in Bristol.
The princess, who was back on royal duties less than three weeks later, has said she has no memory of the incident but now views every day as a 'bonus'.
Last month the Royal Mint unveiled the first official UK coin to honour Anne, created in celebration of her birthday and lifetime of service.
Swannell was also tasked with taking the official photographs for Anne's 70th, and previously photographed Diana, Princess of Wales and her sons, the late Queen for her official diamond jubilee portrait in 2012, Sir Tony Blair, Sir Michael Caine and Sir Elton John.
Another image of Anne by photographer Chris Jackson was released last week showing the princess in a tiara and gown with Sir Tim on the night of the Windsor Castle state banquet for French President Emmanuel Macron.

Cardiff and Vale College Celebrates Another Record Year of Learner Success and Progression
Cardiff and Vale College is celebrating another record year of success with more students than ever before achieving their AS and A Level, BTEC and other Level 3 qualifications. Around 900 learners have studied A Levels at CAVC this year across 40 subjects. A wide range of subjects from Photography, Dance, Drama, Business Studies, Digital Technology, English Language and Literature, Film Studies, French, Further Maths, Geography, Government and Politics, History, Media, PE, Spanish and Welsh saw 100% pass rates. The college also celebrated the achievements of learners taking a wide variety of other Level 3 qualifications, such as BTECs, either as standalone qualifications or alongside A Levels, in subjects ranging from Journalism to Applied Science, Fashion to Sport. Many of these Level 3 courses enable learners to study up to the equivalent of three A Levels in a subject they're passionate about. A further 1,000 students received the results of their BTEC and other qualifications at Level 3, all enabling progression to university, apprenticeships and more. And it was a record year for university applications from Cardiff and Vale College learners. Over the last two years more than 1,000 learners in total have progressed to university straight from the college. This year, more than ever have applied to university, with around 700 learners applying and 30% of them receiving firm conditional offers from Oxbridge and Russell Group universities. Many learners also choose alternative progression routes to apprenticeships, higher apprenticeships and other such employment opportunities. In the last two years this has seen learners start apprenticeships in a wide range of careers and industries, with employers ranging from the BBC to Bentley. CAVC Principal Sharon James-Evans said: 'Celebrating our learners on A Levels and Level 3 Results Day is always one of the highlights of the year as these young people embark upon the next chapter of their lives. Congratulations to everyone. 'We are all extremely proud of all of our learners who are picking up their results. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work over the last two years, and to the college colleagues who have worked so incredibly hard to support their learners to achieve these outcomes. It is fantastic to see so many take these results, and the wider skills and experiences they have gained during their time at CAVC, and stand out from the crowd and progress on to leading universities and fantastic alternative progression routes including higher apprenticeships.' Two learners who made the most of what CAVC has to offer are twins Adrian and Lukasz Koman. Adrian gained A*s in Computer Science Maths, Further Maths and an A in Physics and is off to the University of Bristol to study Electrical and Electronic Engineering, while Lukasz achieved A*s in Computer Science and Maths Fast Track and As in Further Maths and Physics and will study Electrical and Electronic Engineering in the University of Bath. 'I'm very happy – I got the grades I wanted to go to the university of my choice,' Lukasz said. 'And I'm going into the area of expertise that I wanted to.' Both Lukasz and Adrian were on the college's Scholars Programme, which is designed to offer learners the opportunity to broaden their learning experience beyond the traditional A Level curriculum and offers support with applications to elite and leading universities. 'My time was amazing,' he said. 'I live in Newport so taking the train every day and coming into college was a real change of pace from high school. It all felt so new and exciting. 'I really enjoyed the different opportunities – there were a lot of events. I did the Sutton Trust Pathways programme for Engineering through the college which I wouldn't have done in high school, and the Scholars Programme was great, being with people who are interested in the same areas as you. 'I'd definitely recommend Cardiff and Vale College – it was brilliant.' Adrian added: 'I'm really happy to be going to my top university – it's the university I wanted to go to and it's quite close as well. It's really exciting. 'I loved it here compared to high school – it's a whole new environment and so modern and there's something for everyone here. The college celebrates LGBTQ+ events so it was great to be in an inclusive place.' The teaching and extra activities really stood out for Adrian as part of his CAVC experience. 'The teachers are great,' he said. 'My maths teacher was the best teacher I've ever had. I'd definitely recommend the college as it's given me more opportunities than I would have had in high school – I did the Maths Challenge and I joined Career Ready. 'There's so much to this college and I'm really grateful.' Ngaire Gape studied Level 3 Art and Design and gained triple starred Distinctions and is progressing to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama to study Design for Performance. 'I'm really excited, quite relieved and quite proud of myself for getting these results,' she said. 'I wouldn't have thought I would be able to go to university a couple of years ago.' Ngaire is really looking forward to starting at the RWCMD. 'It's something I've wanted to do for about five years,' she explained. 'I've done all sorts of volunteering and any extra experience I could get through the college. 'I've really enjoyed it here – my tutors have been amazing; they've really encouraged me with all the weird things I wanted to do. It's probably the best teaching experience I've ever had and the facilities are amazing. 'I definitely would recommend the college, especially to people who don't think they are suited to academic things.' Eddie Moloney first joined the College as Junior Apprentice, CAVC's pioneering programme designed to prevent people aged 14-16 becoming Neither in Education, Employment or Training (NEET). Progressing on to a Level 3 Business course, Eddie gained three Distinctions and is going to the University of Exeter to study Law. 'I'm just hysterical – I'm very, very pleased with my results,' he said. Eddie has made the most of his time at the college. 'I've loved ever minute of it,' Eddie said. 'Amazing friends, amazing memories. I wasn't in education at all when I started at the college – I left at the end of Year 7 and didn't return until the end of Year 10 so it's really helped me. 'The trip to San Franscisco with my Business course was the absolute highlight for me. It was brilliant.' Eddie is looking at becoming a lawyer, specialising in corporate law and clinical negligence. 'The college has really helped me fulfil my ambitions,' he said. Meghan Cotty gained A*s in the Business and Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), an A in Law and a B in History and is going to the University of Birmingham to study Law with Business. 'I'm really happy with these results,' Meghan said. 'It was very, very stressful but I'm glad my hard work paid off. 'College has been amazing – the teaching has been outstanding and teachers have been lovely both inside and outside the classroom. I have issues with anxiety and the support has been amazing. 'I want to qualify to be a solicitor and I've been doing work experience arranged through the college. I'd 100% recommend the college to other people.' Zac Lynam gained A Levels in Chemistry, Maths and PE and is progressing on to an apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering at GE Aerospace. 'I think an apprenticeship is much more suited to me as it's more practical than learning in the classroom,' he explained. 'I feel I learn a lot better doing something and I don't think university would be for me.' Zac initially thought of applying to university but decided upon taking the apprenticeship route as he entered the second year of his A Levels. 'I applied for the apprenticeship in September and got in in December,' Zac said. 'GE Aerospace is a respected company and the apprenticeship was perfect for me. 'College has been great – I really enjoyed the social aspect and being in the Rugby Academy was an opportunity to develop my sporting skills alongside my course.' Sandy Abeysinghe gained a Distinction star, two Distinctions and a Merit in his Level 3 Computing with Cyber Security course and is progressing on to do the college's HNC in the same subject in September, 'I've enjoyed my time at CAVC,' Sandy said. 'I've come from a different country and it's a different society but everyone has made me feel welcome and the tutors are really nice. 'I've enjoyed spending time with my friends and the flexibility of the course. It's been mainly coursework based so I've enjoyed being in class and sharing our opinions and knowledge. 'The communication between the students and the tutors has been really helpful and supportive.' Viktoriia Tkachanko gained As in Politics and Law and a B in History and is going to Swansea University to study History of Politics. 'I really, really loved the teachers support, that was the nicest part of college,' she said. 'If I don't know something or if I need help, I know I can just ask my teachers and they will help, and they were really supportive with my exams, with my results. 'I wasn't really good at mock exams because I'm Ukrainian and it's been hard for me to write everything in English, but they were really supportive and that's why I got really good grades. I would definitely recommend someone comes to CAVC. It's a real nice community.' Noor Abdul studied Computing with Cyber Security and gained a Distinction and three Merits and is progressing to the University of West England to study Cyber Security with Digital Forensics. 'When I first got here I was nervous, but luckily I got on well with everyone in the college, which really helped me in terms of my studies and getting the result I wanted, so I thank them more for supporting me my journey,' he said. 'What really stood out for me was the diverse amount of people in the college and the amount of support I got in the college. I would definitely recommend coming to CAVC.'

Princess Anne will find it 'hard to forgive' Prince Harry's rift with Royals
Princess Anne is celebrating her 75th birthday today, and as the Royal Family's hardest-working member, she is showing no signs of slowing down any time soon She is frequently considered the Royal Family's most industrious member with a direct, practical approach to her wide-ranging responsibilities. And as Princess Anne marks her milestone 75th birthday, it is precisely this understated manner that she is adopting for the occasion. There will be no grand public celebration, and no television appearance - indeed, the sole way her birthday is being acknowledged is through a new commemorative coin from the Royal Mint, which marks the first time Anne's likeness has ever featured. Last year, the Princess Royal carried out 474 engagements across the nation, as well as internationally, maintaining her status as the 'most dedicated' working Royal. The figure would have been considerably higher had she not been compelled to pause her duties last June following hospitalisation after sustaining a severe head injury in what is believed to have been a horse-related accident at her Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire, reports the Mirror. And according to royal commentator Jennie Bond, it is precisely her straightforward character that propels her relentless schedule. She exclusively revealed: "She has always been a no-fuss woman. Her manner is crisp, clean and efficient. That's how she regularly gets four or five jobs done a day - often in different parts of the country. "There have been times when I think she has felt underappreciated. She once berated me for mentioning that Diana had been a champion of AIDS sufferers - I had been with the Princess Royal on a visit to an AIDS project in Uganda. Diana had recently died, and the charity asked me to tell Anne that they needed a new champion. The request did not go down well. "But in recent years, I think her immense contribution to supporting her brother and the monarchy has been fully recognised. She is incredibly hard working and shows no sign of slowing down." Anne was born on August 15, 1950, at Clarence House, just under two years before her mother's life transformed forever when she became Queen. At the time she arrived, she was third in the line of succession after her elder brother, now King Charles. Their shared experiences during childhood, as the late Queen and Prince Philip frequently embarked on lengthy foreign tours, enabled them to forge an unbreakable connection that remains evident today in her steadfast support of her elder sibling's Royal duties. Indeed, during his Coronation ceremony, he bestowed upon her the coveted role of "Gold-Stick-in-Waiting" as recognition for her loyal dedication. This historic position is traditionally given to someone trusted with protecting the monarch personally, with the King clearly considering his younger sister, who fondly calls him 'Old Bean', the ideal candidate. The late Queen and Duke of Edinburgh's influence on their daughter, particularly in her illustrious equestrian career, cannot be underestimated, according to royal expert Jennie. Princess Anne made history as the first member of the Royal Family to compete in the Olympics, representing Britain's Equestrian team in Montreal in 1976. Jennie explained: "There is a lot of her father in Anne: brusque, to the point and no fan of the media. Like him, she doesn't like to talk about herself- she just gets the job done. "As the late Queen's only daughter, she had a very special bond with Elizabeth. They shared a passion for horses, and the Queen was very proud of Anne's equestrian achievements." However, it's not just her royal duties and supporting her brother that keeps Anne occupied - her family life is also bustling. The princess resides near both of her children, Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, from her first marriage, along with her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence. When Peter and Zara were born, Anne made the unconventional decision at the time that they would not receive any royal titles - and would be expected to carve out their own careers. This decision seems to have been fruitful, with both siblings agreeing it was the best choice for them as they lead independent lives, with Zara following in her mother's footsteps as an Olympian Equestrian. Mum-of-three Zara is well-known for her marriage to former England rugby player Mike Tindall, with whom she has three children: Mia, Lena and Lucas. Peter Phillipshas two daughters - Savannah and Isla - from his previous marriage to ex wife Autumn. Both Peter and Zara have spoken about their mother's hands-on approach to grand-parenting, while Mike revealed Princess Anne's cheeky sense of humour during his stint on ITV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here. Jennie chimed in, saying: "I think she has the love and admiration of her children, Peter and Zara. They are particularly grateful to her for having the foresight to decide against giving them titles. "They value the freedom and independence that this status (or lack of) has given them. And she is evidently quite a fun grandmother to have around - especially when it comes to teaching the children to ride. "Anne's sense of humour is dry - like her mother's - but she's no prude. She had a great comeback when her son-in-law, Mike Tindall, split his trousers dancing, revealing his underpants with the memorable logo 'Nibble my Nuts'. 'I'd rather not!' the princess quipped." So, with her own immediate family life settled, it's been debated by royal watchers whether Anne should lend her support to her brother Charles' tricky situation regarding youngest son Prince Harry Harry disclosed earlier this year he no longer speaks to his father, the King, whilst his bond with elder brother Prince William is also reportedly virtually non-existent. His grievances with his family were exposed in his autobiography, Spare, a reference to being a second-born child, like his aunt. A source close to Anne allegedly revealed how if Harry had approached his aunt, she could have shared her precious experience of her position. And Jennie agrees it would have been an ideal notion. She said: "Anne would have been the perfect person to offer advice and guidance - but, sadly, this is no longer relevant as Harry has made it quite clear that he has no desire to return to life as a working royal. "She could have told her nephew that 'playing second fiddle' is the wrong way to look at his status. Instead, as she has shown, the second-born can be an invaluable support to the institution of monarchy, and a vital friend, confidant and wingman/woman to the monarch. "She could have explained that they are a team, a firm, working together to keep the monarchy relevant and using their platform to help charities and communities. "It may be that the King has discussed his family troubles with Anne, but I rather doubt that she would want to get involved. To Anne, loyalty is paramount, and I suspect she feels that Harry has been extremely disloyal to his father, his brother and the monarchy. She might well find that hard to forgive." However, as Anne contemplates what lies ahead, she's reportedly already considering what the future holds beyond her forthcoming birthday. During a conversation earlier this year whilst visiting South Africa, she was questioned about stepping back from duties given the reduced number of working royals and confessed it "isn't really an option". Sources have recently revealed there are no indications of her decelerating in the near term. Indeed, insiders suggest she's determined to continue her duties until she reaches at least 80, before gradually reducing her commitments and potentially retiring completely around 90 - mirroring her father Philip's approach. Whilst carrying on with her work appears certain, one aspect Jennie believes will almost certainly never occur is Anne embracing social media. The princess has garnered a devoted following of online admirers, particularly on TikTok, thanks to her earlier years when she led a rather eventful romantic life, survived an attempted kidnapping - and donned the most stylish 1960s and 1970s fashion. Even today, some of her garments from four to five decades past remain in her wardrobe, occasionally making appearances at official engagements. Despite her newfound fanbase, Jennie concluded: "I think she'd be amused and bemused by the comments on TikTok, but I don't imagine that she'd really give them a second thought.
