UAE Gender Balance Council and Posterity Institute Unite to Boost Women's Leadership in the Private Sector

Hi Dubai21-03-2025

The UAE Gender Balance Council has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Posterity Institute to accelerate the SDG 5 Acceleration Pledge, an initiative launched in 2022 to increase women's representation in leadership roles across private sector institutions to 30% by 2028.
Under this partnership, both organisations will develop a framework to promote gender-inclusive policies and mechanisms in workplaces. They will collaborate on knowledge exchange, best practices, and the implementation of training programs aimed at empowering women in leadership. The initiative also seeks to encourage over 30 institutions—representing 35% of companies within the Posterity Institute's network—to sign the pledge.
Additionally, the agreement includes coordination with the UAE National Competitiveness Council (NAFIS) to enhance employment opportunities for Emirati women within the institute's network.
The MoU was signed by Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice President of the UAE Gender Balance Council, and Dr. Yassar Jarrar, Managing Partner at the Posterity Institute and Secretary-General of the Sustainability CEO Network, in the presence of Her Excellency Mouza Mohammed Al Ghuwais Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the Council.
Mona Al Marri emphasised that the collaboration aligns with the Council's commitment to advancing women's participation in the private sector, in line with the vision of H.H. Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. She underscored that the initiative would help companies attract and retain female talent, reinforcing the UAE's status as a global leader in gender balance.
The Posterity Institute now joins 71 national and international companies committed to increasing women's representation in senior and middle management positions to 30% by 2025. These companies span diverse sectors, including aviation, healthcare, banking, and media.
Dr. Yassar Jarrar highlighted that achieving gender balance is critical for innovation and economic growth. 'At the Posterity Institute, we believe women's inclusion is key to building sustainable and competitive societies. This partnership is a step toward ensuring equality is a reality, not just an aspiration,'
he stated.
This collaboration marks a significant stride in advancing gender balance efforts in the UAE, ensuring equitable leadership opportunities that contribute to long-term economic progress and sustainability.
