Forrest's victory was at Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen and, shortly after collecting his trophy, he was being congratulated by the owner and 47th president of the USA over FaceTime.
'I watched it… he's some player. I look forward to playing with him – in fact I will play with him tomorrow if he could get on a plane,' Trump said in the call, shared on X by the DP World Tour.

'What a round of golf. What three rounds of brilliant golf. It's a great honour you won, thank you very much.'
Forrest, who lifted his maiden DP World Tour title at St Andrews four years and two days ago, took control of windy conditions over the weekend but saw his three-shot overnight advantage trimmed to two after Todd Clements' birdie on the opening hole.
However, when Forrest birdied the fourth and Clements carded a triple-bogey eight at the same hole, the Scot led by five and never looked back.
The world number 294, who double-bogeyed the last, added two more birdies and a dropped shot in a closing 72 to finish with an eight-under-par total.

'It's amazing, just speechless,' Forrest said. 'I think it is the same week as I won four years ago on the calendar so just amazing, that must say something about this week and being at home.
'I just can't believe it. It's been such a tough year on the golf course. It's just a crazy game that you can go and come out and do this, with what feels out of nowhere.
'It's just that old chestnut that one week can turn things around and it has.'
Joe Dean nervelessly parred the last to claim solo second at four under, with John Parry one shot further behind alongside Norway's Kristoffer Reitan and Denmark's Jacob Skov Olesen.
Jordan Smith finished sixth at two under, while Clements, Andy Sullivan and Finland's Oliver Lindell were a further shot adrift – the only nine players to finish the tournament under par.

Alexis Mac Allister makes honest admission as Liverpool star confesses 'I had my bags packed'

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has reflected on a tough period in his career and admitted that he almost left the Premier League before speaking with his family Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has revealed how close he came to leaving English football, a decision that could have completely altered his career trajectory. The 26-year-old has so far enjoyed a dream career–winning the Premier League with Liverpool and helping Argentina to Copa America and World Cup triumphs–but he initially struggled after arriving in England. ‌ Mac Allister signed for Brighton from Argentinos Juniors in January 2019 but was loaned back before spending time alongside his brother Kevin at Boca Juniors the following season. After impressing during these spells in his homeland, Brighton recalled Mac Allister in January 2020, debuting against Wolves in March 2020. However, that turned out to be the Seagulls' final game before football shut down due to the covid-19 pandemic. ‌ The culture shock of swapping Argentina for England and the effects of the ongoing pandemic left Mac Allister feeling alone. He admitted to packing his bags and being ready to leave Brighton, which could have prevented him from becoming a hero for Liverpool and Argentina. ‌ 'As footballers, we always say that you become a man very early. But in other ways, you're still a boy,' Mac Allister wrote for Players' Tribune, reflecting on his time at Brighton in 2020. 'I was calling my mom on FaceTime every day, asking how to turn on the oven and where to put the detergent. And being alone, without playing, you get depressed. 'Many don't know this, but by that Christmas, with no fans in the stadiums, I had my bags packed. Literally, they were packed. I had two offers to leave — one from Russia and another from Spain, and my mind was made up. 'My mom was back in Buenos Aires, and I called her one day crying my eyes out, telling her, 'I quit. I can't do this anymore. But moms…. They always know what to say, don't they?' Mac Allister clearly listened to his mother's advice and stayed put at Brighton. When the Premier League resumed, he featured in all except one of the Seagulls' games. After a spell in and out of the team, Mac Allister became a regular starter the following season, with his displays eventually earning him a recall to the Argentina squad months before the 2022 World Cup. ‌ Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp later came calling for the World Cup winner, with Mac Allister being part of a midfield overhaul that laid the foundations for Arne Slot 's title-winning side. Mac Allister, who also paid an emotional tribute to Diogo Jota, is acutely aware of how differently his career could have gone if he had ignored his mother in 2020. 'I have to give a big hug to my mother,' Mac Allister said. 'Without her, none of this would have happened. I would not be a Premier League champion. I certainly would not be a World Cup champion. Maybe you would not even know my name.' ‌ He added: 'Can you imagine if I had left for Spain? For Russia? I would be an answer in one of those pub quizzes they have in England. 'Next question: who was the Argentinian guy with the Irish name who played 15 games for Brighton? Ahhhh, damn. Who was that guy? Mac something… What happened to him?' But no, that was not my fate. My mom saved me.' Mac Allister made 35 appearances as Liverpool won the Premier League title by 10 points last term. As he prepares to help the Reds defend their crown, the midfielder admits to being proud of not giving up on his dream. ‌ 'In 2020, my name was nothing. I couldn't get a game for Brighton,' Mac Allister recalled. 'I was crying with my mom on FaceTime, begging to come home. Two years later, I was a World Cup Champion. Then a Copa América champion. Now I'm a Premier League champion. Even a Ballon D'Or nominee. 'That's football, no? It's so crazy. The only way that I can explain my story is that I never gave up. That's what I'd like to teach my daughter in a few years. Yes, Daddy fought against a lot of things, but he knew how to overcome them all. You just keep fighting. That's the great lesson.'

The 'horrific' £5k watch with a diamond bezel that Rory McIlroy spent his first paycheque on but now regrets buying

Fans think they've identified the 'horrific' watch which Rory McIlroy spent his first bumper paycheque on - but now regrets buying. The Irish golfing legend has scooped millions during an illustrious career which has seen him become a five-time major winner and a household name in the world of sport. McIlroy shot onto the scene some 18 years ago, earning himself a spot on the PGA Tour at the age of just 18 in 2007. He soon came into some huge winnings thanks to his exploits on courses across the DP World Tour, winning $20,520 for a T-42 finish at the British Masters, $286,769 at the Alred Dunhill Cup and another $56,425 at the Madrid Open. But only now has McIlroy revealed that he spent his first earnings on what he described as 'the worst purchase ever' - a diamond encrusted watch. Speaking ahead of this weekend's BMW Championship, he told reporters: 'I only had a debit card at the time and I checked my balance. 'I was like "Holy", I went straight to the jeweller.' When asked if he remembers what he spent the money on, McIlroy chuckled: 'Yes, a watch with diamonds around it. It was horrific. 'I can't believe it, it was like the worst purchase ever. It was so bad! 'It's not the make and model that I'm sponsored by now, so I'm not going to say it!' But after hearing McIlory's admission, curious fans began investigating what exactly the 'horrific' watch was. Instagram user @golfprojects was the first to identify the glitzy wristwear, claiming the golfer splashed out his earnings on a 2007 Breitling Chronomat Evolution featuring a diamond bezel and a MOP dial. Indeed, pictures of McIlroy from the 2009 Dubai Desert Classic show him sporting what supporters believe is the watch, and it's just as eye-catching as he described. Elsewhere in the press conference, McIlroy made headlines as he shot down the idea of captaining Team Europe in the upcoming Ryder Cup. As one of Europe's most decorated players, he had often been tipped as a natural leader in waiting. Since making his debut in 2010, McIlroy has been part of five victorious European teams. He however revealed that he has turned down an offer to captain the team at Bethpage Black in September. 'No, I've been asked to do that, and I've turned it down,' he said. 'The idea of me being a playing captain sometime soon came up, and I shot it down straight away.' When asked why, McIlroy replied: 'Because I don't think you can do it.' The Northern Irishman explained that the modern Ryder Cup captain's role has expanded far beyond what fans see during the three days of competition. 'It's just the commitments that a captain has that week,' he added. 'You think about the extra media a captain has to do, you think about the extra meetings the captains have to do with the vice-captains, with the PGA of America, preparing your speech for the opening ceremony… there's a lot of things that people don't see that the captain does, especially now that the Ryder Cup has become so big. 'If you'd have said it 20 years ago, I'd say, yeah, it was probably possible,' he continued. 'But now with how big of a spectacle it is and everything that's on the line, I think it would be a very difficult position to be in.' The 2014 Open champion also stressed the practical limitations such a role would impose on his playing schedule across the weekend. 'Then [on the playing side] the captain isn't going to be on the course all day, so really the captain's only going to be able to play one session on Friday and one session on Saturday,' he said.

Fraud probe launched after 'woman scams dozens out of Oasis tickets'

A fraud investigation has been launched after an Edinburgh woman allegedly scammed dozens of people out of Oasis tickets. The Gallagher brothers made their highly anticipated return to Scotland with three sold-out shows at Murrayfield on Friday, Saturday, and Tuesday. Around 70,000 fans were at Murrayfield each night to see the Manchester band perform classics such as Don't Look Back in Anger and Slide Away. However, police are investigating allegations that a woman in East Lothian failed to deliver gold-dust tickets promised to around 60 desperate fans, after many people claiming to be victims of the scam came together through a social media post. Official government data in June showed £1.6m was lost to fraud involving gig tickets last year – more than double the previous year's figure – and Oasis's high-profile reunion tour has been widely used to lure victims. Earlier this year, Lloyds Banking Group said more than 1,000 customers had fallen for scams linked to the Manchester band's eagerly anticipated UK concerts. Among them was Lori Cairney, from Edinburgh, who said her daughters were left 'devastated' after she decided to surprise them with tickets, She sent a woman in the area £500 for the tickets – only for them to never arrive. 'The woman had on her Snapchat story in mid-July that she had Oasis tickets for sale', she said. 'My partner and I kept asking, as we decided to surprise our daughters. 'We bought them T-shirts, etc, and they were both very excited. Two days before, I asked the woman why people were on social media saying she scammed them. 'She promised me she wouldn't do that and guarantee I would have the tickets by Friday. Saturday came. No tickets. My daughter is devastated.' Lara McEnaney also purchased tickets from the same woman for £340, but she did not hear from her on the day of the gig. 'I bought tickets on July 14, two standing tickets which cost £340,' she said. 'Before sending the money, I asked if she could quickly FaceTime for two minutes just so I could see her face matched up with her profile, which it did. She asked me if I could do it through PayPal which thankfully I did. 'She seemed really genuine, and I thought no way would this lady scam me because I could see her business account, etc, on Facebook. 'I messaged her August 6 asking about the tickets, and she sent me a pic of her leg on a hospital bed…she told me she was in the hospital and that her husband would transfer over the tickets later that night. 'I kept checking my emails, absolutely nothing I then messaged her the next morning, she told me she was having a procedure and she had a friend who worked at Ticketmaster who was going to help push through the transfer. 'On the day of Oasis, she never messaged me for a while. She then messaged me around 12.30pm to say she had been dealing with police because a woman was slamming her on Facebook and sending death threats. 'I then searched her name on Facebook and saw the post. I then confronted her, and she asked me how she could scam me because I had paid through PayPal, and there were plenty of tickets left on Viagogo. Lara said she is claiming a refund through PayPal, and even managed to get last-minute tickets through the resale platform. 'I was absolutely gutted however, I went on Viagogo and managed to get restricted view tickets which cost me £450,' she added. 'There was a lovely steward who I spoke to and she actually let us in the gold circle. 'Our day went from bad to good as we were so close to the stage. However, many people never got to see Oasis due to her actions.' Police Scotland has confirmed a fraud investigation was launched into the complaints and is in its 'early stages'. A spokesperson said: 'On Saturday, August 9, 2025 we received a report of fraud in the Edinburgh area. 'Enquiries are at an early stage.'
