Eagles decline 5th-year option of former Commanders' 1st-round pick

It's draft week, which means we are approaching the deadline for NFL teams to either pick up or decline the fifth-year options for 2022 first-round picks. There is no decision for the Washington Commanders, who traded their 2022 first-round pick, Jahan Dotson, to the Philadelphia Eagles last August.
After one season with Philadelphia, the Eagles saw enough to decline Dotson's fifth-year option. In 17 games last season, Dotson caught 19 passes for 216 yards with no touchdowns. He did have a touchdown in the playoffs. Dotson served as Philadelphia's No. 3 receiver behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
Washington sent Dotson and a 2025 fifth-round draft pick to the Eagles for a 2025 third-round pick and two seventh-round selections.

That was one of two deals general manager Adam Peters made with Philadelphia GM Howie Roseman. During last season's draft, the Commanders traded one of their second-round picks to the Eagles, giving Washington two picks in return.
The Dotson trade represents a clear win regardless of what happens with Dotson and the Eagles next season.

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark is back in the lineup after the WNBA star was sidelined for five consecutive games with a quad injury, the team announced on social media Friday. The 2024 Rookie of the Year sustained a strained quadriceps during the Fever's 90-88 loss to the New York Liberty on May 24. She was initially projected to miss two weeks, but Saturday's return against the Liberty will mark three weeks. "She's back," the Fever announced with a post on Instagram. "Caitlin Clark is ready to play tomorrow against New York." Fever head coach Stephanie White said Monday the team was ready for Clark to start "ramping back up," but she did not say if Clark was cleared yet for basketball activities. White later added on Thursday that Clark and Sophie Cunningham, who's been sidelined since May 30, had "limited" reps during practice. Clark was averaging 19 points, 9.3 assists and six rebounds in four games this season. Her return comes as the Liberty have remained hot with a 9-0 record. They remain undefeated against Eastern Conference opponents and head to Indiana fresh off a 85-66 win against the Chicago Sky where Sabrina Ionescu dropped 23 points. Victor Perez sinks second-ever hole-in-one in a U.S. Open at Oakmont

Victor Perez aced the sixth hole in the U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club on Friday, becoming just the second golfer in 10 U.S. Opens at the famed course to pull off the feat. The first came in 1983, when Scott Simpson made a hole-in-one on the 16th. Advertisement Perez's moment came on the 192-yard, par-3 sixth thanks to the strength of his 7-iron. Upon drilling a straight drive, the Frenchman watched his ball bounce three times before bounding into the cup as the crowd erupted. In celebration, Perez threw both hands in the air before chest-bumping his caddie and high-fiving his playing partners. Despite the triple and two other bogeys, the ace plus three birdies helped Perez finish the roller-coaster round even par. He finished Thursday with a Round 1 score of 1-over-par, leaving him well within the projected cut line. Perez, 32, has never made the cut at a U.S. Open. His best finish at a major came at the 2023 PGA Championship, where he finished tied for 12th. The last U.S. Open ace before Perez came in dramatic fashion from Francesco Molinari at Pinehurst last year. Molinari sank a hole-in-one on his final hole of the second round to sneak under the cut line and qualify for the weekend. Perez's ace, which was his first on the PGA Tour, was the 54th in U.S. Open history. In May, two players recorded holes-in-ones at the PGA Championship, including Si Woo Kim, who made the longest ace in major history from 252 yards out.
