What Tso told Kaizer Chiefs star Shabalala

Kaizer Chiefs supporters seem to be in favour of Mduduzi Shabalala again.
Things change rather quickly in football. Kaizer Chiefs' 21-year-old attacker Shabalala was slammed for his performance in the Soweto derby. Last weekend, the Soweto-born youngster inspired Amakhosi to the 2-1 win over Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final.
The former Orlando Pirates midfielder Vilakazi may have played a clutch role.
'I just said to him 'boy, you just need to be yourself in the game and do what you can do best. I know it's hard',' said Vilakazi via iDiski Times .
''Sometimes you find that you want to try something but it's not working but what's important is that you as an individual contribute even if you don't have assistance but come with a plan because at the end of the day when you've got the ball the decision comes from you'.
The Kaizer Chiefs youngin said: ''He said ' grootman , it's hard because sometimes you need assistance and you don't get it'.
Vilakazi continued:' Then I said unfortunately as a professional player when you are in that position you need to dig, show what you are capable of show us. I mean we can see that the boy is trying but he doesn't have support but if you are not even trying you are as good as dead.
'Well done boy and this is what we want to see from you, to say yes there's no movement but you tried something. I thought they had lost that action when he turned back but it happened that the ball went to [Ashley] Du Preez and Du Preez kept it alive and to the captain,' the former Pirates ace concluded.

Kaizer Chiefs R1 million blunder worst signing in years?

Kaizer Chiefs' bold move to sign Bongani Sam from rivals Orlando Pirates has turned into a financial and footballing misfire. Nearly a year since his arrival, the 27-year-old left-back has yet to feature in a single competitive match for Amakhosi. Sam joined Chiefs ahead of the 2023/2024 season in a deal that raised eyebrows. At the time, the move shocked many fans and analysts alike, considering his limited game time at Pirates and patchy loan spells at Maritzburg United and Moroka Swallows. Despite the risk, the club inked him on a three-year deal with an option for a fourth. Since signing, Sam has not made a single appearance for Chiefs. A combination of injury and non-selection has kept him sidelined throughout the season. In fact, his last competitive minutes date back to December 2023, six months before arriving at Naturena. This prolonged absence places Chiefs in an uncomfortable position. Not only have they gone a full season without any on-field contribution from Sam, but they've also reportedly shelled out over R1 million in salaries and signing-on fees with nothing to show for it. 'Chiefs made a big mistake with Sam, how can you sign someone who never played a full season? The talent is there but the consistency was not,' a source told The South African. Sam's playing history hardly justified the investment. During his stint at Pirates, he completed just seven full matches and appeared sporadically in another 21 fixtures, often falling out of favour and eventually heading out on loan. Yet, Chiefs pushed through with the signing, hoping for a turnaround that has not materialised. Now, with at least two years left on his contract, cutting ties would come at a significant financial cost, another dilemma for a Kaizer Chiefs desperate to rebuild and regain competitiveness. Sam, once expected to challenge for a starting role, hasn't even entered the frame. As the Soweto giants prepare for the upcoming season, one question remains. Will Bongani Sam ever justify the investment, or will he go down as one of the most baffling signings in the club's recent history? Kaizer Chiefs star Ashley Du Preez suffers heart breaking loss

Kaizer Chiefs have extended their heartfelt condolences to striker Ashley Du Preez following the passing of his father, Abraham Jansen. The Glamour Boys took to social media platform X to announce the sad news, drawing an overwhelming wave of sympathy from fans across the country. In a statement that resonated deeply within the local football community, the club posted: 'We are saddened by the passing of Abraham Jansen, the father of our player Ashley Du Preez. We extend our deepest condolences to Ashley and his family. May his father's soul rest in peace,' as quoted by iDiski Times . Ashley Du Preez joined Kaizer Chiefs from Stellenbosch FC in 2022, with a reported transfer fee of R10 million. After some initial struggles to find consistent form, Du Preez has begun to deliver on the club's investment, emerging as a pivotal figure in their recent success. The forward played a crucial role in Amakhosi's Nedbank Cup victory this past season. He netted the decisive goal against Mamelodi Sundowns in the semi-final and followed it up with a vital assist in the final against arch-rivals Orlando Pirates, helping secure the trophy for Chiefs. Despite the joy of recent on-field triumphs, Du Preez now faces a personal tragedy off the pitch. The football fraternity has united in support, with fans, teammates, and the broader community sending messages of strength and comfort. At The South African , we also extend our deepest sympathies to Ashley Du Preez, the Du Preez family, and the Jansen family during this profoundly difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers remain with them. Send through your heartfelt messages to the Kaizer Chiefs striker Ashley Du Preez. Kaizer Chiefs top brass make their move for exciting young defender

Kaizer Chiefs have a good mix of youth and experience in their defensive ranks, but their latest target is one of the hottest properties in South Africa. Ime Okon has broken onto the scene for SuperSport United, quickly becoming a key pillar for Matsatsantsa at age 21. With Rushwin Dortley gradually returning to full fitness after knee surgery, Chiefs are looking to future-proof their back four. RUMOUR: Kaizer Chiefs lose out on R27 million man Recent reports linked Chiefs with a move for versatile 23-year-old Aphiwe Baliti. Now, outstanding central defender Ime Okon is the next name on their wish list. His contract with Matsatsantsa reportedly expires at the end of June 2025. Chiefs have reportedly ditched their interest in Bafana and Esperance winger Elias Mokwana. Instead, their eggs are all in the Oswin Appollis basket. 'If you were talking about Appollis, I could have agreed with you. It's also an open secret that Chiefs are interested in him. The negotiations are believed to also be at an advanced stage as there are a few logistics they are working on, but not Elias Mokwana,' an insider told Soccer Laduma.
