Priyanka Chopra says her mom was mad when she met Nick Jonas
Speaking on the Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce podcast, which aired July 3, Chopra Jonas recalled bringing Jonas to her apartment for the first time back in 2017 after a night out in New York. The only problem? It was 1am and she forgot to tell her mom, Dr. Madhu Chopra, that someone was coming over.
'She was on the couch watching Law & Order: SVU,' Priyanka said. 'She literally got up with her lipstick in her hand and said, 'You should've told me someone was coming over!' Then stormed into her room and didn't come back out.'
Priyanka admitted she wasn't sure it was a real date, having arrived 45 minutes late and dressed casually. When Nick ended the night with a polite hug and two pats on the back, she briefly thought she might have been friend-zoned. But he later explained he just wanted to be respectful, given her mom was in the next room.
The couple officially began dating in 2018, got engaged in Greece that summer, and married in December. They welcomed their daughter, Malti Marie, via surrogate in 2022.

Priyanka Chopra says her mom was mad when she met Nick Jonas
Priyanka Chopra Jonas is revisiting one of the more awkward, and now hilarious moments from her early relationship with Nick Jonas, and it involves a late-night visit and a very surprised mom. Mariska Hargitay confirms biological father's identity after decades of speculation
Mariska Hargitay has revealed that the man she believed to be her father for much of her life was not her biological parent. In a deeply personal interview, the Law & Order: SVU star shared that she uncovered the truth about her paternity in her thirties, decades after the death of her mother, actress Jayne Mansfield. In a recent feature with Vanity Fair (May 17), Hargitay, 61, recounted meeting her biological father for the first time after seeing him perform in Atlantic City. 'I went full Olivia Benson on him,' she said, referencing her long-running role. 'I was like, 'I don't want anything, I don't need anything from you... I have a dad.'' She recalled the man bursting into tears, telling her, 'I've been waiting 30 years for this moment.' Hargitay was raised by actor and bodybuilder Mickey Hargitay, who was married to Mansfield until their final divorce in 1964, the year Mariska was born. While the couple briefly reconciled before her birth, Mansfield had also been romantically involved with Brazilian-born Italian singer Nelson Sardelli during that time. Hargitay later confirmed that Sardelli is her biological father. Though rumors had circulated for years—mentioned even in Raymond Strait's 1992 biography Here They Are Jayne Mansfield—Hargitay said she first began to suspect the truth in her twenties after seeing a photograph of Sardelli. 'It was like the floor fell out from underneath me,' she shares in the upcoming documentary My Mom Jayne. Despite the emotional discovery and initial denial from Mickey, she later bonded with Sardelli and his daughters. 'I'm Mickey Hargitay's daughter—that is not a lie,' she said. 'I grew up where I was supposed to.'

Mariska Hargitay honors late mother Jayne Mansfield in heartfelt new documentary
Mariska Hargitay is stepping behind the camera for her feature film directorial debut with My Mom Jayne, a new HBO documentary exploring the life and legacy of her mother, Hollywood icon Jayne Mansfield. The film marks the first time Hargitay publicly examines her mother's story, nearly six decades after her tragic death. Described as 'a labor of love and longing,' the documentary follows Hargitay's emotional journey to understand and connect with the mother she barely knew. Jayne Mansfield, a 1950s film star and sex symbol, died in a car accident in 1967 at the age of 34, when Hargitay was only three years old. 'This is a search for the mother I never knew,' Hargitay said in a statement. 'It's about reclaiming her story and discovering my own truth.' My Mom Jayne blends never-before-seen home videos, personal photographs, and intimate interviews with those who knew Mansfield both privately and publicly. It aims to reveal the depth, vulnerability, and humanity behind the glamorous public persona. The documentary is produced by Hargitay and Trish Adlesic and executive produced by Lauran Bromley. It will premiere exclusively on HBO, with a release date expected to be announced soon. In addition to her long-running role on Law & Order: SVU, Hargitay brings a deeply personal perspective to this project, bridging the gap between a lost maternal bond and public memory. My Mom Jayne promises to be both a tribute and a powerful story of identity, legacy, and love.
