WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair diagnosed with cancer

The South African10 hours ago

WWE legend Ric Flair has revealed he is facing skin cancer for the second time in three years. The 76-year-old wrestling icon, known as 'The Nature Boy,' confirmed he will begin treatment next week.
Flair initially denied the diagnosis last month, wishing to keep the news private, but has now decided to share the update with his fans.
Flair said in an interview, 'It's the second time in three years that I've been dealing with skin cancer. I will be undergoing treatment next week.'
He acknowledged the emotional toll of the diagnosis, reflecting on his past health battles. 'I've been hit by lightning, broke my back, but nothing like this,' he said.
The wrestling legend has endured a series of serious health scares over the past decade. In 2017, Ric Flair was hospitalised with severe stomach pains and underwent surgery to remove an obstructed bowel, according to the Daily Mail.
Doctors placed him in a medically induced coma, and he faced early kidney failure and congestive heart failure, complications linked to years of alcohol abuse.
Doctors gave him only a 20 percent chance of survival, but he defied the odds and recovered.
Doctors rushed Ric Flair to hospital in 2019 for a 'very serious' medical emergency, and he later underwent successful heart surgery.
He has openly discussed his battle with alcoholic cardiomyopathy, a heart condition caused by prolonged alcohol use.
'I had one vice,' Flair admitted. 'My vice was drinking. I didn't have any other addiction problems'.
Despite these challenges, Ric Flair remains one of the most celebrated figures in professional wrestling history.
He boasts 16 WWE world championship titles and is the only WWE Superstar inducted into the Hall of Fame twice. Once individually and once as part of the Four Horsemen stable.
His flamboyant style, signature 'Woo!' catchphrase, and charismatic persona have made him a global icon.
Flair's daughter Charlotte has followed in his footsteps, becoming a major WWE star herself, often appearing alongside him at wrestling events.
Flair's personal life has also seen ups and downs; he recently announced his split from his fifth wife, Wendy Barlow. He thanked for standing by him during his health crises.
Flair's resilience and fighting spirit resonate deeply. His story is one of battling adversity both inside and outside the ring.
As he prepares for this new fight against cancer, many will be rooting for his recovery. Flair's legacy as a wrestling legend and survivor continues to inspire across the globe.
In his own words, Flair urged support and solidarity: 'In trying times, let's root for our heroes and each other. Together, we're stronger.'

Kerishnie Naiker recalls freak accident that left her in a wheelchair

Former Miss SA Kerishnie Naiker has reflected on the first anniversary since a freak accident that left her temporarily wheelchair bound after dislocating both ankles. The 51-year-old beauty queen suffered a serious fall after bumping into a tourist at Cape Point in May last year. After undergoing intensive rehabilitation, she slowly regained mobility, but with limitations. In 1997, Kerishnie became the first South African of Indian descent to win Miss SA. In an Instagram post over the weekend, Kerishnie Naiker reflected on a year of intense rehabilitation since her horror accident at a Cape tourist destination last year. Sharing footage of her time in hospital, she shared: 'Adaptability is an art and an advantage. The focus has not once been on the negligent, selfie-addicted tourist, but rather on being solution-driven and healing. Earlier this month, Kerishnie claimed she had '28% sports ability' and also revealed she experienced nerve damage in her toes. According to Kerishnie Naiker, she suffered a serious fall last year after bumping into a tourist on a steep flight of stairs. She shared: 'I was accidentally tripped by a tourist while she was taking photographs. While on the stairs from the lighthouse at Cape Point, she walked backward into me, tripping me down two steps. She tried to get the lighthouse in focus and took one step too far'. The beauty queen dislocated both her ankles and had to undergo an intensive rehabilitation programme. Kerishnie Naiker has shared a health update after a freak accident. Images via Instagram: @kerishnie_naiker In light of the accident, Kerishnie Naiker has used her platform to share the lessons she learned from the experience. She shared: 'I feel it imperative to use this platform to reaffirm that we: 'Do not take photos at the peril of others or ourselves 'Are observant, cognizant of our surroundings, and situationally aware 'Savour every moment and take it all in without having to witness it all through a lens 'Are mindful, kind, and not oblivious of the well-being of others.' She added, 'Too many are dying while taking selfies and recording reels, and others are getting injured and killed by their negligence.' Drunk Presley Chweneyagae clips go viral after booze, party claims

Shortly after Warren Masemola made indirect comments about Presley Chweneyagae's love of partying and alcohol, a clip of the late actor intoxicated at a groove resurfaced on social media. Masemola spoke about his late industry colleague at his funeral service on Saturday, 7 June. The 40-year-old was married to his wife, Charlaine, the mother of his children. His cause of death was attributed to 'natural causes'. During his tribute, Warren Masemola revealed that while he was close friends with Presley Chweneyagae, the pair often quarrelled about prioritising family over bad friends. He said, 'My friend and I fought a lot. I don't understand people who don't fight with their friends and the people who they love. Warren hinted at Presley Chweneyagae's love of partying and booze. He recalled a time when he travelled to Pretoria to pick up Presley – presumably at the request of his wife – as 'he was being a nuisance' He told funeral-goers: 'He dodged me, I found him at Stasie Kombuis [popular groove in Pretoria].' Warren added that he found Presley with a group of friends who didn't have his best interests at heart. He added: 'You owe it to yourself to talk to the one you love and say, 'Please, you have children at home. Go home. Your family needs you.' Meanwhile, several clips of Presley Chweneyagae partying at a local groove have resurfaced on social media. The actor appeared intoxicated and surrounded by a group of friends. Jason Momoa and Roman Reigns set to shake up 'Street Fighter'

The world of Street Fighter is about to get a serious injection of muscle, charisma, and star power. Legendary Pictures is rebooting the iconic video game franchise for the big screen, with two heavyweights: Jason Momoa and Roman Reigns. Jason Momoa, fresh off his global box office smash A Minecraft Movie (which raked in over R16.7 billion), is now reportedly in talks to play Blanka. Blanka is the wild, green-skinned fighter known for his electric attacks and animalistic strength. Momoa's action credentials are unmatched. From Aquaman to Dune , he's proven he can command any screen, according to Comic Book. 'Jason has the presence and intensity to bring Blanka to life,' says a Hollywood insider. 'Fans want to see that raw energy, and Momoa delivers every time.' South African fans, who have long enjoyed Momoa's larger-than-life roles, are already speculating about his transformation. Will he go full green? Will we see that trademark Momoa grin before a thunderous Blanka roll? Only time will tell. Leati Joseph Anoa'i, better known as Roman Reigns, is also in talks for a major role. The WWE superstar has dominated the wrestling world and appeared in action hits like Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw . He is reportedly set to play Akuma, the fearsome, red-haired villain driven by dark energy. Akuma is a legend in Street Fighter lore, and Reigns' physicality makes him a perfect fit. Kitao Sakurai, known for his work on Bad Trip and Twisted Metal , directs the film. Legendary Pictures and Capcom are co-developing the project, promising a faithful adaptation that honours the games' spirit. This isn't the first time Street Fighter has hit cinemas; the 1994 film starring Jean-Claude Van Damme became a cult classic. But with this new cast, expectations are much higher. As one industry observer put it, 'Hollywood is finally taking video game movies seriously. With stars like Momoa and Reigns, this could be the blockbuster fans have been waiting for.' Whether you're a lifelong gamer or just love a good action flick, Street Fighter is gearing up to be the fight of the year.
