Young Celtic fan parties with BSC Young Boys in Switzerland after sweet viral clip in Glasgow
A young Celtic fan has partied with BSC Young Boys in Switzerland after footage captured him meeting their fans in Glasgow earlier this year.
The viral clip showed eight-year-old Joshua McLaughlin and his dad walking over to applaud the away fans after being blown away by the atmosphere they created at the crunch Champions League game fixture in January.
The supporters took Joshua to their hearts and he has now visited Switzerland twice in recent months.
Following the game at Celtic Park, Joshua's dad, Kevin, wanted to buy his son a BSC Young Boys jersey but when he contacted the club the pair were invited over for a match.
They enjoyed an all expenses paid trip to Switzerland in April, where the Elderslie youngster was asked to be the club mascot for the day as the Swiss outfit played Yverdon Sport FC.
Joshua begged his dad to go over again during the school holidays and they were given an unbelievable reception from the locals last weekend.
Speaking to the Record, Kevin, 53, explained how his son struck up a close friendship with local lads Jonas Boss and Giuliano Matturro in April and was desperate to go back over for a game this summer.
Kevin arranged a trip to take in BSC Young Boy's match against FC Sion on Sunday, August 10.
At the match, goalkeeper Marvin Keller and defender Jaouen Hadjam even noticed Joshua and came over and spent some time with him.
Kevin said: "I tried to keep it as low key as possible, but the day before the game I posted a picture on Instagram and the club shared it and hundreds of Swiss people started following me.
"So many people inside the stadium seemed to recognise us and the attention was so overwhelming.
"We went out for dinner that night and the guy who owned the restaurant refused to let us pay for our meal.
"It was the same when we visited the country earlier this year, the Swiss fans have just been absolutely amazing throughout and Joshua is stopped all the time and asked for selfies.
"It has all been such a whirlwind of emotions and came off the back of the one incident inside Celtic Park."
Kevin explained he had never seen such a noisy and colourful away support in all his years following Celtic during the January game.
He said from the moment they stepped inside the stadium that night Joshua was completely fascinated.
"By that point all of the home fans were away so we must have stood out as we walked over to be near them.
"The fans started doing that thing you see in the video where they sort of hum and put out their hands.
"Joshua walked over and they let off two huge roars and applauded him.
"It was such a special moment for us both and I was bursting with pride."
Kevin uploaded his video on social media before going to bed that night and woke up to find it had gone viral.
The dad was inundated with messages from supporters of the Swiss club.
He said their lives haven't been the same since and the club are going to be a fixture in their lives going forward.
Kevin added: "I don't know where it will go from here but it has been a wonderful journey so far.
"BSC Young Boys are definitely our second club now and Joshua has absolutely fallen in love with them."

Lana Del Rey Vs Ethel Cain - The 'Copycat' IG Post, Body Shaming Allegation and Lyrical Digs Explained
Another day in celeb world, another feud. This time, the drama is brewing between Ethel Cain and Lana Del Ray. While it's no secret that Ethel has been compared to Lana several times, drama escalated between the pair this week thanks to the lyrics of Lana's new song. It kicked off when Lana posted an Instagram video which showed her in a car, listening to a segment of a song from her upcoming album, with the lyrics 'Ethel Cain hated my Instagram post / Think it's cute reenacting my Chicago pose.' People were quick to deduce that the lyric seems to reference a picture from 2024 of Cain with Jack Donoghue - Del Ray's supposed ex-boyfriend, in front of a dam. Ethel had a close friendship with Jack, and some reports even suggested she dated him after his relationship with Lana. What's more, the 2024 image was strikingly similar to a previous photo of Del Rey and Donoghue outside Chicago's Cook County Jail. In the song, Rey's lyrics also say 'The most famous girl at the Waffle House/ I don't regret it/ The most famous girl at the Waffle House.' In a 2022 profile in The New York Times, Cain was dubbed 'The Most Famous Girl at the Waffle House' - leading many people to think Ray is throwing further shade at her here. The lyric also references Lana's own viral 2023 moment, when she was spotted working a shift at a Waffle House in Alabama. Things escalated even further when Pop Pass shared a post reporting on the unreleased segment of the song, Lara also alleged that Ethel body-shamed her in a comment. 'I don't know who Ethel was until a few years ago – when someone brought to my attention the disturbing and graphic side-by-side images she would often put up of me next to unflattering creatures and cartoon characters making constant comments about my weight, I was confused at what she was getting at,' she wrote. 'Then when I heard what she was saying behind closed doors from mutual friends and started inserting herself into my personal life I was definitely disturbed.' Shortly after, Cain shared on her Instagram stories that Lana had blocked her on the platform. Ethel has not responded to Lana's claims. The links between Ethel and Lana go a long way back. According to reports, Ethel used to be a Lana Del Ray fan, and even posted a cover of her track, born to die, online in 2017. However, in time Ethel reportedly grew frustrated with the comparisons between her and Lana. According to Dazed, she once replied to a fan who compared the two of them by saying 'I pushed her over when I ran past' and 'She'll never catch up to me in her Macy's dress.' Neither Lana or Ethel have released public statements about the feud. As for how the fed between these two indie stars will play out online (and on Spotify)? Watch this space. Rangers star speaks on teammate Jefte's £6m transfer exit
The left-back is very close to a return to his homeland and the club are poised to make a significant profit on the six-figure fee they spent on him last season. The deal is expected to go through imminently and the 21-year-old has been left out of the squad which will face Club Brugge in Champions League qualifying on Tuesday night. Fellow Brazilian Danilo spoke at a press conference previewing the League Cup game against Alloa Athletic, and was quizzed on the situation. Read more: He said: "I don't know, I see a lot of rumours. I speak to him as well, but I just don't know how the situation is, how far is it the negotiations between the clubs. I think I'll leave this with them. "But if, I don't know if he leaves or not, and then just obviously, it's a hard part of you, you know, another Brazilian leaving. But I just don't know the situation, so I don't know if it's real or if it's finished or not. But if he goes, I just wish him all the best and yeah." Asked if he has seen Jefte grow as a player and as a person during his time in Glasgow, he added: "100%. If you get the opportunity to be your first year the best left-back in the league, I think that means a lot. So, you grow as a player. So, I just see him every day and then see his development. So, he's still a young boy, but I just wish him the best for the future."
