Megan Thee Stallion's Attorney Shuts Down Tory Lanez Defense's Claims of New Evidence in Shooting Case
Megan Thee Stallion's attorney, Alex Spiro, has replied to claims from Tory Lanez's legal team regarding what they claim is new evidence in the 2020 shooting case that allegedly proves his innocence.
Spiro released a statement on Wednesday (May 14), shutting down the new claims surrounding the case.

'Tory Lanez was tried and convicted by a jury of his peers and his case was properly adjudicated through the court system,' Spiro said in a statement to XXL. 'This is not a political matter — this is a case of a violent assault that was resolved in the court of law.'
The statement came in response to Unite the People's lead consultant, Walter Roberts, who hosted a press conference on Wednesday regarding Lanez, who is listed as an advisory member on the organization's website, and the 2020 shooting case.
Roberts claimed that he acquired new evidence in the case proving Lanez's innocence. He said he was approached by Bradley James, who claimed to be Megan Thee Stallion's friend, Kelsey Harris' bodyguard, on the night of the July 2020 shooting. Roberts added that James allegedly overheard a conversation in which Harris admitted to having the gun during the shooting, and that according to James, Lanez did not shoot anyone.

Lanez was convicted on three felony counts of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the feet following an argument outside a July 2020 party in Hollywood Hills. According to prosecutors, Megan got out of a car during an argument when Lanez shouted, 'Dance, b—h!' and fired at her feet.
Lanez was ultimately sentenced to 10 years in prison, and Thee Stallion was granted a restraining order against the Canadian singer in January.
Earlier this week, Lanez was attacked in prison, during which he was reportedly stabbed 14 times, and suffered from collapsed lungs. He was transported to a hospital near the California Correctional Institution, where he was serving his sentence.
A statement on his Instagram account said that Lanez was stabbed in his head, neck, back and torso, but is now breathing on his own. 'Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through,' the statement said. 'He also wants to thank everyone for the continued prayers and support.'

Police played 'crass' game with sex worker photos
Police officers used photos of sex workers to play a "crass and inappropriate" game of "snog, marry or avoid", an employment tribunal heard. The game came to light as part of an unsuccessful claim of racial discrimination brought by former probationary police constable Shafarat Mohammed against Derbyshire Police. Mr Mohammed sued the force claiming colleagues had discriminated against him when he served as an officer in Derby between March 2022 and his resignation in October that year. A report on the findings of the tribunal, published on Thursday, said Mr Mohammed, an Asian Muslim, alleged he was subjected to acts of direct discrimination because of his race and religious beliefs. Among his claims were that, in May or June 2023, a colleague asked him to look at pictures of black female sex workers and comment on whether he liked them. The claimant said the game, where players pick people they would prefer to kiss, marry or avoid, left him offended and embarrassed and was racially motivated. In a report, tribunal judge Stephen Shore said the game could have constituted sexual harassment but Mr Mohammed had not made such a claim. The judge said: "The 'game' was crass and inappropriate. It casts no one who participated in it in a good light." A panel, led by the judge, dismissed all of the Mr Mohammed's claims which also included that he had been ostracised and excluded from team and social events and that colleagues ordered and ate bacon sandwiches, knowing he was a Muslim, to further exclude him. Mr Mohammed said he had also been called a "Road Man", a slang term for a drug dealer, by a colleague during one of his first shifts at Pear Tree Police Station in Derby in March 2022. The panel heard evidence from the complainant during a five-day hearing at the Nottingham Tribunal Hearing Centre, in July last year. "Our analysis of the facts of each, claim led us to the conclusion that many of the claims were weak and not founded in fact," the panel's report said. The panel report said Mr Mohammed had "weakened his case by withdrawing allegations" and had retrospectively refitted facts to fit his discrimination claims. The panel also found he had fabricated facts to bolster his claims, some of which were contradicted by his own contemporaneous statements. The panel said evidence presented to the tribunal found the claimant "struggled" as a probationary officer while working at a "pressurised" police station. Dawn French says sorry for posting 'one-sided' Gaza video
Dawn French has taken down a video she posted on Instagram about the war in Gaza, saying she apologised "unreservedly" for it. The video sparked a backlash, with critics accusing the actress and comedian of appearing to "mock" the 7 October 2023 attack. On Saturday, French acknowledged on Instagram that the video "appeared one-sided", and said she never meant to "mock, or dismiss, or diminish the horror" of that day. "I hope you will understand my intention was not to offend, but I clearly have. For which I am sorry and I have removed the video," she added. In the 40-second video, posted earlier this week, the Vicar of Dibley star shared her views on the ongoing war, saying: "Complicated, no, but nuanced. But [the] bottom line is no." Switching into a high-pitched voice, she went on to say: "Yeah, but you know they did a bad thing to us, yeah but no. But we want that land... and we have history… No. Those people aren't really even people, are they really? No." On social media, people were quick to criticise her, with actress Tracy-Ann Oberman saying she was "so saddened" by the post. "This mocking voice 'bad thing' of October 7 that Dawn (who I revere by the way) appears [to] be mocking involved the most horrific terrorist attack involving rape, sexual violence, burning alive, child mutilation and taking of civilian hostages," she wrote. "My intention was NEVER to mock, or dismiss, or diminish the horror of what happened on 7 October 2023 and what continues to unfold from that brutal unthinkable, unforgiveable, savage attack," she said. She said her intention had been "to mock and point the finger of shame at the behaviour of the cruel leaders on all sides of this atrocious war". "THEY were my target, but clearly I failed to do that, and that's on me. I apologise unreservedly, and I'm particularly sorry that my disgust at Hamas didn't figure. It appeared one-sided and that is wrong." Israel launched a military campaign in Gaza in response to the Hamas-led cross-border attack almost 20 months ago, in which about 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were taken hostage. Some 54 of those captured during the attack remain in captivity, including 31 the Israeli military says are dead. At least 54,607 people have been killed in Gaza since then, including 4,335 since Israel resumed its offensive on 18 March, according to the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry.
