'He would have thrived': Australia captain on India's missing player on England tour; on 'hostile' environment at Lord's

Alyssa Healy of Australia poses with the trophy after winning the Women's Ashes Test Match between Australia and England on February 01, 2025 in Australia (Photo by) India were forced to admit defeat at the hands of a relentless England bowling attack on Monday at Lord's. The hosts, charged by their skipper Ben Stokes and the blistering deliveries of Jofra Archer, made sure that India fell short of the 193-run target to take a 2-1 lead in the series. The win for England means that India are now faced with a must-win situation in the 4th Test. Looking back at India's defeat in a game that saw Gautam Gambhir's men play impressive cricket for a significant part of the game, Australia women's team captain Alyssa Healy made a cutting remark on the Indian team. Speaking on the "Willow Talk" podcast alongside Adam Peacock, the skipper reminded India what they've been missing and it was no surprise that Virat Kohli 's name came up. The former Indian skipper and No 3 called time on his red-ball career shortly before the squad was announced for the Test series against England. While his retirement did not take center stage in the first two Tests in the series given India's sublime batting, the defeat in the 3rd, which saw India fail to chase the 193-run target highlighted what the side was missing, according to Healy. Virat Kohli on why did he retire from Test cricket: 'It's time when you...' "I probably shouldn't say this for the sake of the current Indian team, but it made me miss Virat Kohli a little bit, because I would imagine him absolutely thriving in that environment, trying to save a Test match. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Get ₹2Cr life cover@ ₹700 p.m. ICICI Pru Life Insurance Plan Get Quote Undo He would have been absolutely frothing to be a part of that," said Healy. The Test at Lord's birthed several tense and heated moments between the two sides, with sarcastic jibes, passionate celebrations and raging comments taking the spotlight. India skipper Shubman Gill lost his cool to England opener Zak Crawley for his time-wasting tactics, saying "Get some balls, show f---ing balls!" Poll Do you think India can bounce back in the 4th Test against England? Yes, they will win! No, they will lose Gill too, was taken aim at, when Ben Duckett sarcastically said that he has made 600 runs in the series and won't be scoring any more. The India captain had a rather subdued performance with the bat, scoring just 16 and 6 over the two innings. Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!

Swing-off Explained: MLB uses new rule for first time in All-Star Game

Major League Baseball (MLB) added a new twist in the 2025 All-Star Game by using a 'swing-off' to decide the winner instead of extra innings at Atlanta's Truist Park on Tuesday night. Tied 6-6 after nine innings, the NL-AL game moved into a Home Run Derby-style showdown. Each team picked three hitters, who get three swings each to hit as many home runs as possible. Teams with the most HR wins the game. Following the sixth inning, lights dimmed and fans lit up the stadium with their phones as the legendary scene from April 8, 1974, was projected on the infield and video board. — MLB (@MLB) Aaron's widow, Billye, stood and waved to a roaring crowd of 41,702, as fans celebrated the enduring legacy of one of baseball's greatest icons.

Naga Vamsi says Brad Pitt's 'F1' reminded him of 'Jersey'; finds similarities between Hollywood blockbuster and Nani's sports drama

Picture Credit: X Producer Naga Vamsi, who has backed critically acclaimed Telugu films like 'Jersey', shared his observation about Brad Pitt 's latest sports drama 'F1'., The filmmaker recently shared that the Hollywood blockbuster reminded him of the 2019 Nani-starrer, especially towards the film's climax. I n an interview with Gulte, Vamsi said that while he thoroughly enjoyed F1, he also mentioned that the emotional aspect of the film made him feel like 'Jersey'. He said, "I know this will turn into a controversy, and the audience might troll me. I liked 'F1' movie a lot. But towards the end of the film, it reminded me of Jersey. Will he go to the race or not? The medical condition. Everything reminded me of it towards the end. " 'F1' has a Telugu film soul, says Vamsi He further shared that 'F1', despite being a Hollywood production, carried the soul of a Telugu sports drama. "I don't think an English film would copy from us, but 'F1' is a lot like a Telugu film, be it the moments or the highs," he remarked. From Vamsi's perspective, there is no potential for an emotional hook in a sports movie unless it's the story of an underdog. In this case, both 'Jersey' and 'F1' are about personal stories through sport and sacrifice. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Upto 15% Discount for Salaried Individuals ICICI Pru Life Insurance Plan Get Quote Undo Vamsi added, "They took a different backdrop and presented the story technically well, which is why everyone liked the film. I'm not saying they copied from our film, but that's just how I felt." Comparing Arjun and Sonny Hayes In 'Jersey,' Nani plays Arjun, a failed cricketer who returns to the sport in his late 30s to prove himself to his young son. 'F1,' directed by Joseph Kosinski, stars Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a retired Formula 1 driver who returns to the racing grid to help out a friend and support a young rookie. 'Jersey' won two National Awards for Best Feature Film - Telugu and Best Editing, and is widely regarded as one of Telugu cinema's finest sports dramas.
