Bournemouth feel like they are a club that are going places, and the end of last week felt very significant for a number of reasons.American owner Bill Foley came over to open a brand new Performance Centre, which is the new home for the Cherries' first, academy, and women's teams - a beautiful complex which provides a tangible legacy from what we hope will be a long-lasting Premier League era.Not only that, but he also announced the repurchase of Vitality Stadium, a facility which we have been renting for the last 20 years, since we had to sell it due to financial problems in 2005.This alone symbolises the incredible journey that the football club has been on, and with plans to expand to 20,000 and possibly higher in the next few years, fans finally feel like things are moving in a positive direction off the pitch, as well as on it.News of the purchase was relayed to supporters before the last Premier League game against Manchester United, and it was an emotional moment to hear the outpouring of joy at how this once bucket-rattling club has overcome its problems to somehow become a relative powerhouse in world football.Sitting 10th in the league, and with European football a distinct possibility, entering into a match against the Red Devils on Sunday as favourites was something not many Cherries fans would have ever imagined.Sadly, for us, Andoni Iraola's men dropped points in a match which was riddled with controversy, therefore many home supporters left the stadium feeling disappointed. However, in hindsight, to be sitting as a top-half side, with a stadium back under our ownership, and the chance of Conference League football still not out of the realms of possibility, we have to be optimistic for the future.Find more from Sam Davis at Back of the Net, external

Ex-Man Utd star to reunite with Greenwood after missing out on dream return
Former Manchester United star Angel Gomes will link up with Mason Greenwood after sealing a shock transfer to Marseille. The England midfielder was out of contract this summer. He had been linked with a return to Old Trafford, while Premier League rivals Tottenham and West Ham were also credited with an interest. Despite that, Gomes has chosen to move elsewhere. According to RMC Sport, he is set to move to the French giants, who have offered the midfielder a three-year deal at the Stade Velodrome. Gomes has agreed to the move having been convinced by Roberto De Zerbi's style of play, while the chance to play in the Champions League proved difficult to turn down. Gomes will link up with former United teammate and fellow academy graduate Greenwood with his new employers. The striker moved to France permanently last summer and went on to score 22 goals across his debut campaign. Greenwood has been linked with a move of his own amid reported interest from Barcelona but has expressed his desire to remain with Marseille. Speaking earlier this year, he said: "I hope to be here next year for the Champions League. 'All the other players tell me that the stadium is something special. I think it's been a very positive season, we've reached our objective." Gomes, 24, has been with Lille since leaving Old Trafford in 2021. The four-time England international has gone on to make 134 appearances for the club, scoring on ten occasions. Speaking previously, he admitted that he would potentially be open to a return to United. As quoted by L'Equipe, he said: 'It was a very difficult decision. In my heart, I wanted to leave, in my head, I was thinking of staying. But I had to follow my heart. I felt that I needed to take another step in my career. "I felt that had I stayed, there wouldn't be a lot of opportunities for me. Luis Campos [Lille's then sporting director] and Lille spoke about their project and I believed in it even more, that's what convinced me to move - the faith Lille had in me. "Do I imagine myself coming back one day? Obviously, it's home. I would love to come back. But you never know in football. I just have to keep my feet on the ground, and keep playing, making the most of it. I can't predict what will happen in the future." Manchester United have been urged to consider a move for one of Arsenal's transfer targets to provide Ruben Amorim with more attacking firepower. After a deflating end to the campaign, which saw them finish 15th in the Premier League and miss out on European silverware, United are plotting their latest summer rebuild. The Red Devils have identified the forward line as a key area for improvement and have already signed Matheus Cunha to begin to address those concerns. A deal for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo could also follow, although both clubs are still yet to agree on a fee after United's initial offer was rejected.
