May youth be healthy so that nationbe strong: Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini

Kaithal (Haryana) [India], July 13 (ANI): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini underscored the importance of a healthy youth to build a prosperous nation and to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pledge of 'Viskit Bharat' by 2047, as thousands of people participated in the Kaithal Half Marathon on Sunday.
After flagging off the Kaithal Half Marathon on Sunday morning, CM Saini told reporters, '... Today, a half marathon was organized in Kaithal. Thousands of people from Kaithal participated in this event. I extend my congratulations and best wishes to all... May our youth be healthy so that society and the nation remain healthy. When the nation is healthy, Prime Minister Modi's dream will be fulfilled. By 2047, India will become Viksit Bharat... We want to associate youth to this initiative to ensure no one takes up drug abuse...'
Later in a message on X, CM Saini expressed his gratitude to all participants, organisers, and supporters for making the grand 'Half Marathon' held in Kaithal today a success.

'It is a matter of great joy for me that Haryana stands united today against drugs. To make Haryana drug-free, awareness programs like marathons, cyclothons, and Ragini are being organised continuously in every corner of the state'
'When drugs are eradicated, the youth will be healthy; when the youth are healthy, the nation will be strong. Only then will the dream of a 'Developed Haryana' come true, along with the resolve of our esteemed Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji for a Developed India,' Saini said in a post.
Earlier, CM Saini on Saturday heard public grievances at Jan Pratinidhi Sammelan and Jan Samvad programme in Kaithal.
According to an official release, CM Saini said that Nagar Parishad, Block Samiti, and Zila Parishad members have a direct relation with people, and citizens have a lot of expectations from them, so public representatives should solve their problems on a priority basis. They should also take full care of the quality of development works going on in their area. (ANI)

New Delhi: The Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections for the 2025-26 academic year will be held on September 18, the university announced on Wednesday. Counting of votes will take place on September 19. According to a DU notification, voting for day classes will be held from 8:30 am to 1 pm, while students of evening classes will cast their votes from 3 pm to 7:30 pm. The last date for receipt of nomination papers, along with a demand draft of Rs 500 as an annual fee and a bond of Rs 1 lakh, is September 10 by 3 pm. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be carried out the same day at 3:15 pm, followed by the publication of the list of duly nominated candidates by 6 pm, the notification said. The deadline for withdrawing nominations is September 11 till noon, and the final list of candidates will be published by 5 pm the same day. For DUSU posts, nomination papers must be submitted to the Office of the Chief Election Officer at the Conference Centre, opposite the Botany Department on North Campus. Nomination papers for Central Council seats must be submitted to the respective colleges or departments. The notification also highlighted that the code of conduct, constitution of DUSU, Supreme Court orders on student union elections, and related guidelines are available on the DU website.

India tightens norms for Overseas citizenship

The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced new rules for overseas citizens of India that may impact their future registration or cancellation. In a gazette notification issued on Tuesday, India has stated that OCI cards and registrations will be subject to cancellation if an individual faces criminal charges or convictions. OCI cardholder is a foreigner and OCI card is a life long visa issued to such a foreigner.(HT_PRINT) "In exercise of the powers conferred by the clause (da) of section 7D of the Citizenship Act, 1955 (57 of 1955), the central government hereby states that an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) registration shall be liable to get cancelled when a person has been sentenced to imprisonment for term of not less than two years or has been charge-sheeted for an offence entailing punishment of imprisonment for seven years or more," read the notification issued by MHA, as reported by news agency PTI. What are the new OCI rules? As per the notification issued by MHA, an OCI registration or card is liable for cancellation if - 1. If the cardholder has been sentenced to jail for a term of two years or more. 2. If the cardholder has been charge-sheeted for an offence that carries a punishment of seven years or more. Speaking to news agency ANI, officials from the home affairs ministry have said that these new rules will help tighten the framework around OCI registration. Furthermore, these rules will be applicable irrespective of where the criminal conviction has occurred. "The provision applies irrespective of whether the conviction occurred in India or abroad, provided the offence is recognised under Indian law," officials were quoted as saying by ANI. As per the Ministry of External Affairs, an OCI card or registration can also be cancelled if - the registration as an overseas citizen of India was obtained by means of fraud, false representation or the concealment of any material fact. the overseas citizen of India has shown disaffection towards the Constitution of India as by law established. the overseas citizen of India has, during any war in which India may been engaged, unlawfully traded or communicated with an enemy or been engaged in, or associated with, any business or commercial activity that was to his knowledge carried on in such manner as to assist an enemy in that war. the overseas citizen of India has, within five years after registration under sub-section(1) of section 7A has been sentenced to imprisonment for a term of not less than two years. it is necessary so to do in the interest of the sovereignty and integrity of India, the security of India, friendly relations of India with any foreign country, or in the interests of the general public. What is the OCI scheme? The Overseas Citizens of India scheme was introduced in 2005. Under this scheme, foreign nationals of Indian origin are allowed to travel and visit India without a visa. OCI status is available for individuals who were citizens of India on or after January 26, 1950. However, the OCI status is not available to anyone who has ever been a Pakistani or Bangladeshi citizen, or who is a child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of such an individual.

New Delhi [India], August 13 (ANI): Security measures have been intensified at the New Delhi Railway Station ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel conducting round-the-clock patrolling alongside their dog RPF and in charge of New Delhi Railway Station, Yashwant Singh, said the force is maintaining a high alert in view of Independence said, 'We are on high alert in view of Independence Day. Security personnel are deployed at all entry-exit gates, and luggage is being thoroughly checked."He said additional staff, including dog squads, have been positioned at multiple locations and that the RPF is also focusing on public reassurance.'Additional security personnel have been deployed on platforms and other places. We are also taking the help of dog squads.
