After 8 yrs in jail, ex-MLA gets bail from SC
1 2 Dhanbad: Sanjiv Singh, the former BJP MLA from Jharia, was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Friday. Sanjiv has been in jail since 2017 on charges of conspiring to kill his cousin and former Dhanbad deputy mayor, Niraj Singh, and four others. Sanjiv won from the Jharia seat in 2014 assembly election. His wife Ragini is the incumbent Jharia MLA and won on a BJP ticket. Sanjiv's counsel Mohammad Jawed said, "A three-judge bench of the Apex Court comprising Chief Justice B R Gavai, Justice Vinod Chandran, and Justice N B Anjaria granted him bail in the case after hearing the matter." "Several other accused in the case, including Rinku Singh and Dablu Mishra, have already been granted bail by the High Court, while Pintu Singh, Sanjay Singh, Dhanji Singh, Chandan Singh, and Kurban Ali were granted bail earlier by the SC. The bench was also apprised of Sanjiv's ill health and the need for medical treatment. Considering these factors, the court allowed his bail plea," Jawed said. Sanjiv was arrested in July 2017 and has remained in custody since then. On March 22 the same year, Niraj, the deputy mayor and Congress leader, was gunned down by four assailants using A K- 47 assault rifles near Steel Gate under Saraidhela police station limits. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The 5 Books Warren Buffett Recommends You To Read in 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo His associate Ashok Yadav, driver Chandra Prakash, and bodyguard Munna Tiwari were also killed. I had faith in God. My son was implicated in false charges." With this order, Sanjiv joins the list of other accused who have been granted relief in the high-profile case that has been a focal point of political and legal attention in Dhanbad for years. Siblings Ragini and Rudraksh Dwivedi celebrate their unbreakable bond this Raksha Bandhan

We sit down with the duo to talk about what makes their sibling bond so strong. Excerpts: 'WE ARE EACH OTHER'S CONSTANTS' Describing the bond she shares with her brother, Ragini says, 'I don't usually care much for other people's opinions, but when he speaks, I listen. He's the only one who can say whatever he wants. And actually get away with it!' Rudraksh adds, 'I'll tell her to her face if I think she's done something wrong. I'd much rather be honest with her than sit in a room where she's not around and listen to people talk behind her back. ' The duo comes from an Army background. This meant growing up, they were always moving from place to place. 'No matter where we went, having each other was a blessing. Plus, with just a 1.5-year age gap, we basically grew up side by side,' Ragini says. Why the Lamberghini girl Ragini Tandan chose Chandigarh to kick off her debut album & special launch tour
SIX hundred million views and counting – after her insanely viral hit track Lamberghini with The Doorbeens, singer-songwriter Ragini Tandan returns to the spotlight with something deeply personal, her debut album, Chasing Light. As part of a special launch tour, Ragini is all set to perform live in Chandigarh this August 7–8 at the Tagore Theatre where she will also release her debut album. 'If not here then where! I am from Ambala, but Chandigarh has been more home to me than any other place…we've grown up here, walked the Sector 17 market, enjoyed the Sukhna Lake, the plays and musical events at Tagore Theatre…to be honest, I owe my cultural roots to this city. This is where I was introduced to the arts, where I participated in theatre, in music competitions like Sangam Kala and Rafi Nights…the dream to chase a life in music started here,' says Ragini. In Chandigarh, prepping for her show Ragini opens up about her struggles and how it took her almost six years to come up with her album. 'The song Lamberghini happened by chance. The Doorbeens, the band, touched base with me after watching all the musical reels I had shared on social media, and they lived just four houses away from us in Delhi! We got together, and the song was recorded in a cubicle lined with five thermocol pieces!' tells Ragini, who recorded the track and left for the UK to pursue a course in Human Resource Management. Back home, the track went viral, and Ragini knew this was it – 'I packed my bags, moved to Mumbai.' Trained in Hindustani classical, Ragini's ultimate dream has always been to be a playback singer, just like her favourite, Sunidhi Chauhan. 'I didn't want to become an independent artist, but the last six years have pulled me in that direction. While I did try for films and projects took their time to take off, the idea of creating something of my own, collaborating resonated with me. There was scope for growth here, and these six years have been exactly that – finding myself as an artist.' Chasing Light is the result of this 'search for the self, which she and her brother, Shiv Tandan undertook'. Shiv, who is the lyricist of cult favourites Dooron Dooron and Botalaan (Paresh Pahuja), and the director behind the Voice Notes concert series, has collaborated on the album, and delivered a rich lyrical storytelling to the five tracks. 'From love, loss to self-discovery, each track charts a different emotional landscape. Take for instance Roobaroo, an anthem of awakening, while Bolo Na dances through the absurdities of daily life, as Ragini navigates the madness of Mumbai. Chhaddo, which is her favorite, is heartbreak and acceptance, while Tabaahi is catharsis. Finally, Subah is a graceful goodbye,' adds Shiv. Recently, Yo Yo Honey Singh mentioned Lamberghini as a beautiful track in an interview, and praised the singer. 'That was out of the blue,' smiles Ragini, the 'soul singer looking to make meaningful connections with her audience through her music'.

Srushti Mishra: I believe every actor has faced typecasting at some point
Srushti Mishra, recognised for her role as Ragini in Ram Bhavan, is actively seeking diverse roles to avoid being typecast. Srushti Mishra, last seen as Ragini in the TV show Ram Bhavan , is intent on steering her career away from repetition. Known for her portrayal of the soft-spoken, grounded Ragini, the young actor is clear about one thing—she doesn't want to be typecast. 'I believe every actor has faced typecasting at some point. Every single one. Because in this industry, what is visible is what sells. That's the harsh truth,' she says. Early in her career, she was often offered roles that revolved around the stereotype of a rich, rebellious teenager, which she attributes to her age and appearance. The 22-year-old says, 'But I've always preferred to step out of that comfort zone. I enjoy taking on different kinds of roles, new challenges—because that's how I evolve. That's how my craft grows. I grow,' she adds. She adds, 'Ragini was a breakthrough for me. She's the opposite of what I was being offered—obedient, innocent, grounded. That role gave me a chance to show people that I don't belong in just one box. Whenever I feel I'm being typecast, I make a conscious shift—auditions, photo shoots, reels, everything. I pick work that helps me break that image. I'm always trying to push boundaries. Through my looks, styling, and auditions, I try to reflect the range I can bring to a character. '

In the late 1990s, a young actress emerged in South Indian cinema, captivating audiences with her expressive eyes and emotive performances. Her debut in the Tamil film 'Kumbakonam Gopalu' showcased her talent, leading to roles in various Malayalam films. Notably, she portrayed Ganga in the horror film 'Aakasha Ganga,' leaving a lasting impression as she got the title of 'yakshi.' Despite her rising fame, her life was tragically cut short at the age of 22. Who Was This Actress? Here we are talking about Malayalam actress Mayoori, born as Shalini in Kolkata in August 1983 to Tamil parents, she entered the film industry while she was in the 8th standard. Her role in 'Summer in Bethlehem' (1998) marked her Malayalam debut with legendary actor Mohanlal, where she stood out among a star-studded cast. Over the next few years, she took on diverse roles in films like 'Chandamama featuring Kunchakko Boban' and 'Prem Poojari,' showcasing her versatility. Her performances were characterized by depth and sincerity, earning her recognition across the Malayalam, Tamil, and Kannada film industries. As is typical with most of Lohithadas's works, the role required the actress to delve into profound emotions, which Mayoori executed exceptionally well, proving that she could not be limited to just one type of character. Although she went on to star in Summer Palace (2000) and Chethaaram (2001), those films did not bring her the same level of acclaim. The Tragic End Of Mayoori Despite her professional success, she faced personal challenges.
