Former Los Angeles Rams center Brian Allen has decided to retire from the NFL at the age of 29. His agency announced the news on Wednesday night, as the center calls it a career after five seasons in the league.
Allen joined the Rams as a fourth-round pick in the 2018 draft and while he was active for 13 games as a rookie, he didn't make a start until Year 2. That season, he played and started nine games before being placed on season-ending injured reserve.
He didn't play in 2020 as he recovered from knee surgery, but he returned in 2021 and started 16 games, along with four in the postseason – including the Rams' win over the Bengals in Super Bowl LVI.
Allen spent two more years with the Rams before being released following the 2023 season. He signed with the Browns last May but was placed on IR in July and released a few days later. He didn't play in 2024.
Injuries certainly hindered Allen's career but his comeback story in 2021 after missing all of 2020 was memorable. He went from being a forgotten player on the Rams' roster to the starting center in Super Bowl LVI.

Ramsey did see a dip in his play last season when he missed the Pro Bowl for the first time since 2016. He had 60 tackles, a sack, two interceptions and 11 passes defended. Advertisement Ramsey had been taken fifth overall in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Jaguars and played there until he was traded to the Rams in the middle of the 2019 season. He played in Los Angeles until he was traded to Miami in the 2023 offseason.

HOUSTON, Texas (WKBN) – NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting that former Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb is expected to sign a free agent deal with the Houston Texans, if all goes well with his physical on Monday. Chubb, who suffered a season-ending broken foot in Sunday's loss to Kansas City, appeared in eight games last season. He rushed for 332 rushing yards and four total touchdowns. The four-time Pro Bowler was originally selected by the Browns in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. In seven seasons in the NFL, Chubb has piled up 6,843 rushing yards and 51 touchdowns.
