Ifor Williams Trailers, the renowned trailer manufacturer, is looking for a talented sales professional to join its sales team in Corwen.
More than six decades of trust
For more than 65 years, customers have trusted Ifor Williams Trailers for work and leisure. With six advanced manufacturing sites in North Wales, the company manufactures and supplies trailers and parts to suit a wide range of uses, both commercial and domestic.
Their flatbed, tipper and general duty trailers are used in a huge variety of industries, from builders to tree surgeons. Rally drivers and garage owners use their car transporter trailers, while their versatile box vans are popular with coach and bus firms, market traders, hot air balloonists, scout troops and tradespeople, who can use them as mobile workshops.
Farming and equestrianism have always been a major part of the Ifor Williams Trailers story, from farmers transporting livestock, quad bikes and machinery across their land, to horse owners placing their trust in their reliable and robust horseboxes across the country.
Sales coordinator role
The advertised role is based at the company's Corwen site, approximately 11 miles west of Llangollen, and based on working from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday, and 8am to 12pm one Saturday out of three.

Duties listed include:
● Customer engagement, maximising sales and growth
● Assessing the customer's needs, providing sound sales advice and ensuring the customer is sold the most appropriate trailer
● Dealing with technical or sales enquiries via phone, email or face to face
● Providing professional quotes tailored to the individual's needs in a timely fashion
● Complete all aspects of the sale to include ordering trailers or parts, processing payments and arranging collection or delivery
● Ensuring customer satisfaction is achieved at all times
● Attend local and national shows, dealing with customers from different industries
● Provide technical knowledge, deal with sales and any customer care requirements
● Maintain appropriate stock levels at the site, and be responsible for ensuring trailers/parts are accessible and presented professionally for the customer (this may involve some manual handling)

Aberthaw power station and Severn tidal lagon in progress
Proposals for a tidal lagoon, that would be smaller than a barrage spanning the Severn which has been previously touted but dismissed on cost grounds, were revealed in March in a report by the Severn Estuary Commission Its report called for the UK and Welsh governments to support the project though the commission was hosted by the Western Gateway Partnership, of local authorities in South Wales and South West of England, that was disbanded in June. But Monmouthshire County Council leader Mary Ann Brocklesby, who chairs the Cardiff Captial Region that represents the 10 unitary authorities in South East Wales, said it is still working on the proposal with counterparts not only in the south west of England but also Liverpool. 'We've started to realise our relationship with the West of England Combined Authority and with Liverpool around tidal power, that is very exciting,' Cllr Brocklesby told a meeting of the Cardiff Capital Region's overview and scrutiny committee. She said the region's purchase of the former Aberthaw coal fired power station, on the Vale of Glamorgan coast – which has ultimately resulted in the body having to pay a £5 million legal settlement over how a contract to dismantle it was awarded – will also benefit its ambitions. It paid £38m for the purchase of the 500 acre site, in 2022, which it intends developing as a 'renewable and green energy park'. 'Aberthaw can be huge benefit socially as well as economically,' said Labour's Cllr Brocklesby who acknowledged 'working our way through the procurement issues' which resulted in it having to pay the £5m settlement has been a 'real challenge' for the region in its first year as an independent body, having first been a project established by the partner councils. The capital region's chief executive Kellie Beirne said it has 'good relationship' with the National Grid on a 'reconnection agreement' that will be submitted shortly for Aberthaw, which ceased operating in 2019. 'There is a lot of work to build upon around the tidal lagoon opportunity as highlighted by the Severn Estuary Commission, that is something for us to keep building on,' Ms Beirne told the committee of councillors from across the region. She also described Aberthaw, which is owned by CCR Energy a limited company in which the capital region is the only shareholder, as a 'key asset'. She said: 'Apart from the two National Grid substations there is 18 million tonnes of pulverised fuel ash we've drilled down nearly 27 holes, down to depths of nearly 30 metres, to be able to understand, a valorisation exercise, on that fuel ash that will hopefully tell us the mineral content, what it was used for and could be in the future.' She also said the first phase of demolition at the site has been completed and handed back to the the region which will be able to 'claim things like land reclamation tax against that'. But she warned the regional body won't be able to fully fund the development of the site itself. She said: 'Will we be able to afford to do it all? No way. The cost will ultimately require significant private sector input. In 18 months time, when the demolition is complete, that is when we will be able to bring the full master plan together and start enacting some of the projects that we've spoken about in the past.'

SNP under fire over public energy firm as Wales launches wind projects
The Labour-run administration in Cardiff set up Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru (which translates to Green Electricity Wales) in 2024, and in July announced plans for three wind farms on publicly owned Welsh woodlands – as well as more renewable energy projects yet to be finalised. Trydan said the initial three wind farms would be able to generate up to 400 MW of clean electricity – enough to power around one in four Welsh homes – with 'all profits generated reinvested in Welsh communities and public services'. In 2017, then-Scottish first minister Nicola Sturgeon pledged to establish a 'publicly owned, not-for-profit energy company', but the policy was dropped after the 2021 Holyrood elections. Robin McAlpine, from the Common Weal think tank, said that they had partnered with Plaid Cymru during their time in the Welsh government to lay the groundwork for Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru. 'The whole point of that conversation was to explain how to create a public energy company under a devolved settlement – and the fact that this is happening in Wales shows that it certainly could have happened in Scotland too,' he said. 'The fastest is to create an energy company which is co-ordinated and funded by the Scottish Government, but in which the actual wind farms are owned by local authorities. 'We have told the Scottish Government this again and again. It is a very active choice to maintain an almost wholly privatised energy system in Scotland.' The Greens want these resources to benefit everyone, not just giant private investors. 'It is great to see Wales taking steps in this direction. As Greens, we've long made the case for every local community to have its own energy company, as well as a role for the national level. 'The Scottish Government can do far more to ensure that the ownership models for renewable energy put money back into communities across Scotland, at the same time as cutting emissions. Local ownership, community ownership and public ownership should all be playing a much bigger role.' 'A national public energy company that is involved in large-scale energy generation would only be possible in an independent Scotland where we had full powers over the energy market and full access to borrowing,' they said. 'We are committed to maximising the public benefits of our renewables revolution, and while many powers remain reserved, we will use the powers we do have and continue to grow community investment in energy-related projects and technology.' In January, Scottish Energy Secretary Gillian Martin told MSPs that setting up a publicly owned energy firm was "not something we are able to do at the moment with the current devolution settlement". 'By developing these projects on the Welsh Government Woodland Estate, we're making best use of our public land to tackle the climate emergency and create sustainable economic opportunities." A press release said that the developments will 'create hundreds of jobs during construction and operation, with Trydan committed to involving Welsh companies throughout the process'.
