1 person seriously injured in multi-vehicle crash on Highway 1 in Langley, RCMP say

One person has been seriously injured in a multi-vehicle collision involving a semi truck on Highway 1 in Langley, prompting a closure of the westbound lanes at 248th Street, according to RCMP. Police say the crash happened just before 5:45 p.m. PT Thursday near the 24700 block of the highway, close to 248th Street. Langley RCMP, B.C. Highway Patrol and the Lower Mainland's Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) attended the scene. "We can confirm that one person has been taken to a local area hospital with severe injuries at this time," said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, media relations officer for Langley RCMP. He added the injuries could be considered life-threatening. Langley RCMP said traffic was being rerouted at the 264th Street exit and as of 8:30 p.m. PT they had "no anticipated time for reopening [the lanes]." "We're asking road users to avoid the area," said Sharoom. "It happened during rush hour and it has caused significant backups on the westbound side." The incident is the third major crash in Langley in less than a week. Two of those collisions were fatal — one involving a motorcycle and SUV at 200 Street and 80 Avenue, and another fatal motorcycle crash on Highway 1. accordingly and be very vigilant to your surroundings," Sharoom said.
