UCI suspends Bulgarian federation chiefs over ethics breaches
An independent ethics commission found that Angelov had manipulated cycling events and verbally assaulted and intimidated members of the cycling community, the UCI said in a statement.
Gerganov, a former professional rider, had tried to consolidate control over the BCF along with Angelov, abusing their authority to modify internal structures and retaliate against opponents, the UCI added.
Angelov was found to be involved in "irregular modifications of start lists and facilitating timing anomalies in official competitions, granting undue advantages to certain athletes and undermining sporting fairness".
Gerganov did not try to stop or report incidents of verbal assault and intimidation, which involved members of the federation including Angelov, the UCI added.
The suspensions, which can be appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), prevent Gerganov and Angelov from holding any position within a cycling body or being involved in the organisation of any cycling event.

The row between Barcelona and Marc-Andre ter Stegen explained
Barcelona has stripped goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen of the club captaincy due to a deepening rift. The club sought to classify Ter Stegen as a long-term injury to comply with La Liga 's Financial Fair Play rules and free up salary space. This classification would have allowed Barcelona to clear 80 per cent of his wages from their registration to make space in their wage bill for Garcia and Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford. Ter Stegen's public announcement of a three-month recovery period contradicted La Liga rules, which require a minimum of four months for long-term injury status. Ronald Araujo, the current vice-captain, will temporarily assume the duties of first-team captain.

Glenavon trying to 'build on positives'
Assistant manager Colin Coates says Glenavon are ready to "build on the positives" after some mid-season "firefighting" after changes in the dugout last club have made 10 signings with Jordan McMullan, Oran O'Kane, Kris Lowe, Luke Cartwright, Paddy Burns, Stephen Mallon, Harry Murphy and Kyle McClelland have all joined the players have left the club, including 16-year-old forward Chris Atherton's long mooted move to Chelsea."It's been a busy sort of summer," said Coates, who became assistant manager under Paddy McLaughlin last year following Stephen McDonnell's exit. "After we came in last November, the first summer transfer window was always going to be busy with us wanting to bring in our own sort of players and maybe move people on whose time had came to an end at Glenavon, naturally more than anything."It's been a good summer and so far, it's been productive in terms of recruitment but also our training and our games that we've had, it's been top drawer."After former Cliftonville boss McLaughlin arrived last season, he helped lift the club from just four points off bottom of the table into 10th place, 14 points clear of Carrick Rangers in 11th and 24 points better off than relegated Loughgall."It was certainly firefighting when we first came in and just making sure that we stayed in the league," Coates added."Obviously we've done that and now it's about trying to build on the positives and try and move up the table where we believe Glenavon deserve to be."We have our ideas of how we want to play and, by bringing in the players that we've brought in, we'll be hoping that we can improve on last year's 10th place finish."

Jude Bellingham shows new skinny figure as he begins rehab after revealing nasty scar from shoulder operation
SKINNY Jude Bellingham showed off his new trim figure as he began rehab after shoulder surgery. And he is sporting a new nasty scar after the operation. 5 5 5 Bellingham, 22, went under the knife in London three weeks ago. He had been struggling with the problem for more than 18 months after dislocating his left shoulder following an awkward fall against Rayo Vallecano in November 2023. But after being fed up of playing with a sling and needing strapping to prevent further damage, the Real Madrid and England star opted to get the procedure done. Lean Bellingham took to social media to update fans on his progress, posting a video of him doing some mobility exercises with a band while topless in white adidas shorts. Another clip saw him working with a physio to test out the recovering shoulder. And a large scar running from his armpit up and over the joint was clearly visible. Bellingham uploaded the videos as part of a series from his holiday to Jamaica. The Instagram post - captioned "one love" - has racked up more than 2million likes in less than 24 hours. He also shared it on his story, with the caption: "3 weeks post op", with a praising hands emoji. Immediately after the surgery, Bellingham wrote on Instagram: "Thank you to Andrew Wallace and Susan Alexander, their team and everyone at Fortius Clinic for the surgery and hospitality. "To Ivan Ortega and Dr Leyes for travelling to support. "And finally, to everyone else for all the well wishes and messages of love. "The process to come back has already started, see you soon." Bellingham will miss the early part of the 2025-26 season as he continues his rehab. The midfielder could be out until as late as November - but will be keen to hit the ground running as he looks to add to his LaLiga and Champions League winners' medals from his debut season at the Bernabeu. But he may be targeting Real's league clash with Getafe on October 19 which comes after the second international break. 5
