During a review of the scheme on Tuesday, additional chief secretary Anurag Srivastava had expressed concern over reports of progress of the project in Mirzapur. He told officials to probe implementing agencies Ramki Baba and Megha and initiate necessary action if discrepancies were found and also directed ADMs and executive engineers to conduct regular block-level monitoring to ensure efficient execution of water supply initiatives.

The inspection will be conducted in phases, with nine districts included in first phase. Singh will speak to locals to gather feedback on tap water connections. In Tuesday's meeting, Singh directed officials to formulate plan for his visit and provide district-wise list of villages where 'Har Ghar Jal' scheme had been implemented.
The minister also issued stern warning to agencies lax in their work, stating that any irregularities would result in strict action, including jail for those responsible. To maintain accountability, third-party inspections will be conducted, with daily reports submitted to govt.

5L students among only 57L people living outside state: Minister
Patna: Labour resources minister Santosh Singh on Saturday clarified that only 57 lakh people from Bihar were living in other states, and not the "misleading" figure of three crore as "some people" were claiming for electoral gains". Out of them five lakh were students who had gone out for higher education, while the remaining 52 lakh went out of the state in search of employment, he added. Addressing a press conference on the day, Singh said some people are spreading the lie for electoral gains that three crore people have migrated from Bihar. The rumours being spread about the number of Bihar residents living outside the state are misleading, he said. The minister added the govt has always been sensitive towards the people of the state. If a person dies outside Bihar, then assistance is provided to his family by the state govt, he said. Responding to a question on child labour, the minister said child workers are being constantly rescued and efforts are being made to bring them into the mainstream by linking them with various govt schemes. Regarding the efforts of skill development in the state, Singh took a dig at Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad and said, "There was a tradition of shepherd schools (charwaha vidyalaya) in Bihar. But, now a skill university is being established in the state, so that the youth can become technically skilled and do not need to go out for employment." The minister also made a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and said nothing can be more disgusting than his Bihar yatra against voter list revision. Rahul Gandhi's ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra' will be historic: Congress leader
Ahead of the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi's proposed 16-day 'Vote Adhikar Yatra' beginning August 17 from Sasaram in Bihar, former Bihar Congress president and party Rajya Sabha member Akhilesh Prasad Singh on Saturday (August 16, 2025) said the yatra would be a historic one. He said that it would boost the morale of the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) leaders for the upcoming State Assembly elections. The State Assembly polls are likely to be held in Bihar in October or November later this year. Rally on September 1 During the yatra, Mr. Gandhi is expected to be crisscrossing about 25 districts of Bihar, out of a total of 38, with three breaks on August 20, 25 and 31 before culminating the journey at Patna with a rally on September 1. Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav and other Opposition leaders would be present with the Congress leader during the inauguration of the yatra in Sasaram. The proposed Statewide tour is also being taken out to raise awareness among people about their right to vote, Mr. Singh added while addressing media persons in Patna. 'It will be a historic yatra in which unimaginable [number of] people would participate and come out on the streets. The yatra will cover about 1,300 km,' Mr. Singh further said. When asked whether Congress leader and party MP Priyanka Gandhi would participate in the yatra as well, the Rajya Sabha MP said he was not aware about her joining it. 'When I'll come to know about this if she joins the yatra, you all will be informed,' he said. 'Anomalies being exposed' While making remarks on the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across the poll-bound State, the Congress leader further added, 'The anomalies in the exercise are being exposed every day by different news media'. 'Before this exercise was to begin in Bihar, leaders of about 20-22 political parties had gone to meet the Election Commissioner of India but even at that time he had told us that about 20% of the voters' names would be deleted from the [voters] list,' Mr. Singh said while claiming that 'except two parties BJP and JD(U), almost all political parties had opposed SIR of electoral rolls exercise, which means they were supporting it from the backdoor'. 'Our party leader Rahul Gandhi ji will kick start the Voters Rights Yatra from Sasaram tomorrow and he will be in Bihar for almost a fortnight. I appeal to people to come and support the yatra, which would eventually be a yatra to protect your right to vote,' the Congress leader said. 'Yatra will be a milestone' In Delhi, the party's media and publicity wing chief, Pawan Khera said, 'Whenever Rahul Gandhi ji has set out for a yatra, the democracy of this country has turned a page. 'Vote Adhikar Yatra' will be a historic march, and it will prove to be a milestone in the history of our democracy. We'll not accept that the Election Commission becomes a compartment of this so-called 'double-engine',' Mr. Khera said. 'We're fighting against this and will continue to do so in the future as well,' he added. The ruling NDA alliance leaders have been saying that there was a 'double engine (both BJP and JD-U) government in Bihar and at the Centre, which has accelerated growth of the State and the country as well'. Earlier, Mr. Gandhi had said that the yatra had been planned to 'fight for the right of one person, one vote'. 'We're waging a direct fight against 'vote chori' from Bihar with 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' and we'll ensure a clean voters list across the country,' said Mr. Gandhi. 'Vote chori is not just an election issue but a decisive battle to protect democracy, the Constitution and the principle of 'one man, one vote',' the Congress party leaders said while asserting, 'vote chori' has been a do-or-die issue' for them. In line with PM's I-Day speech, Delhi Police chief sets goals on atmanirbharta, tech & healthy competition
New Delhi, Aug 16 (UNI) Delhi Police Commissioner SBK Singh has set goals for the force emphasizing on three important aspects including Atmanirbharta, Use of Technology and Healthy Competition, highlighting these points from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech delivered at the Red Fort on 79th Independence Day. He said that the force must implement the three important points swiftly and in a mission mode across the force. Singh also urged the force personnel, suggesting they must be more people friendly and have 'Sewa Bhav' to earn the trust of the public, enabling them to approach police without any hesitation in case of need. During his address to the force personnel on the occasion of Independence Day, the Delhi Police chief asked all the units to work on the aspect of 'Atmanirbharta' (self-reliance), and come up with a proposal within 15 days time. The aim is to make Delhi Police self-reliant on many fronts to stop dependence on others for things like commandos, bomb disposal squads, wireless sets and other things. Speaking on the use of technology, CP Delhi added that, although the force has always been making best use of technology, and is quite ahead on this front, however, still there is a need to go further. He stressed that whether it is a matter of surveillance, preventing cybercrime, the ability to fight terrorists, the use of technology is required in every field. Singh directed all the Delhi Police units dealing in technology related matters to form committees and groups and conduct necessary studies and come up with proposals in a months' time to enhance use of advanced technology in the force. Talking about another important aspect of the PM's speech, he asked the force to build a sense of healthy competition, , but at the same time, stressed to shun the feeling of jealousy. He asked to embrace the principle at individual, as well as at the organisational level. The police chief also congratulated the force's 18 officers & personnel who have been awarded Police Medals for 'Distinguished Service' and 'Meritorious Service' on the occasion of Independence Day.
