Housefull 5' which boasts of a huge star cast, including
Akshay Kumar
,
Riteish Deshmukh
,
Abhishek Bachchan
among many others, released in theatres on June 6. While the film has gotten a mixed response, it had a good opening on the first day. Meanwhile,
Kamal Haasan
's 'Thug Life' directed by Mani Ratnam, just released a day before.
While one thought it will give a tough competition to 'Housefull 5', the latter is leading at the moment. 'Thug Life' is doing well with its Tamil version but 'Housefull 5' is dominating at the Hindi markets largely.
Infact, the two-day collection of 'Thug Life' is less than the one-day collection of 'Housefull 5'. The Kamal Haasan starrer made Rs 15.5 crore on Thursday, day 1 out of which, Rs 13.35 crore came from the Tamil version, according to Sacnilk.
On the second day, it saw a huge drop as 'Housefull 5' released and made Rs 7.13 crore. On Saturday, as per the early morning shows, it made Rs 87 lakhs but one can expect to see growth by the end of the day, especially in the night shows as Sunday will be a holiday.
The total collection of 'Thug Life' so far, according to Sacnilk is Rs 23.5 crore.
As per the same box office tracking website, 'Housefull 5' collected Rs 24 crore just on day 1 which is more than the two day collection of 'Thug Life'.
On Saturday, just up till the morning shows, the movie has made Rs 2.12 crore. Thus, the total collection so far now stands at Rs 26.12 crore. So, the Mani Ratnam film may be dominating in the south centres and among the Tamil speaking audience, however, in the rest of the big centres like Maharashtra, Mumbai, UP, Gujarat, Delhi, 'Housefull 5' will be garnering more eyeballs.
Saturday is also holiday in some parts due to Bakri Eid and that may further help to increase the collections of both these movies with more footfalls. However, the weekend on the whole along with the coming week will largely matter for both the films. While 'Housefull 5' had a good start, it will have a long way to go before it's called a 'hit' because it's also mounted on a very high budget.

Is it worth watching Akshay Kumar-Abhishek Bachchan's Housefull 5B after 5A? The only difference is…

Housefull 5, released on 6th June, 2025, features large stellar star cast including Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Chitrangada Singh, Fardeen Khan, Nana Patekar, Chunky Pandey, Johnny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Dino Morea, Ranjeet, Soundarya Sharma, Nikitin Dheer, and Akashdeep Sabir. Meanwhile, the makers have strategically released it in two different formats, which is A and B. We are going to tell you whether you should watch the B version after completing its A part, or not. Housefull Series Continues Its Cringefest As per the reviews, this film is just another example of why you should not touch iconic franchises and let it rest forever, because after its second installment, this franchise has presented nothing except ample amount of cringe jokes and piss poor writing, handled by Farhad Samji who can now apply to enter his name in Guiness Book of World Records for making films pathetic. The entire film offers you nothing except sleazy jokes and a male-centered environment where female actresses were only kept for objectifying their body parts, which the writer thinks will make the audience sit and watch. This multi-starrer project is a complete waste of opportunity and a lesson for other filmmakers, because here, captain of this ship, Tarun Mansukhani , has tried to fit every actor in any scene without logic, which underutilized their actual potential. This film tries hard to make us laugh with its jokes and sequences, but fails. However, Akshay Kumar, Jackie Shroff and Sanjay Dutt tried hard to bring their old comic avatar back on the big screen, but due to a lack of writing and delivery, it always bounced back. The Difference between 5A and 5B There is no difference between the parts, except the last 8 minutes. In Part A, killers are someone else, while in Part B, just to show the potential of an actress, makers have made another actor a killer. If you have already watched part A, then you don't need to witness this cringefest again; you can wait for its OTT release. At last, we just want to say that Bollywood should now learn from their mistakes because it's high time to prove the potential otherwise due to these kind of films and their ventures, we don't witness finest and best comedy-drama films.

We will learn without imposition: Kamal Haasan on three-language policy

The ruling DMK in his home state Tamil Nadu has long opposed the three-language policy introduced under the National Education Policy (NEP) Press Trust of India New Delhi Where does Kamal Haasan stand on the issue of imposition of Hindi in the south? I stand with Punjab. I stand with Karnataka. I stand with Andhra, is his quick reply. The pan-India superstar's latest film Thug Life, the 234th in a 65-year career, released in theatres this week amid controversy over his comment that Kannada was born out of Tamil. He refused to apologise and the film did not release in Karnataka. "I am the actor from 'Ek Duuje Ke Liye'..., Haasan told PTI during a recent visit to the news agency's headquarters, referring to his 1981 hit Hindi film about a Tamil boy and his romance with his Hindi speaking neighbour. Without imposition, we will learn. Don't impose, because this is ultimately education and we must take the shortest route to education and not put hurdles in its way," the actor said. The ruling DMK in his home state Tamil Nadu has long opposed the three-language policy introduced under the National Education Policy (NEP). The party has repeatedly accused the BJP-led NDA government of attempting to impose Hindi, a charge the Centre has denied. Stressing that the imposition of a particular language only hampers the learning process, the 70-year-old said, "I stand with Punjab. I stand with Karnataka. I stand with Andhra. This is not only place which is resenting imposition." The Indian cinema stalwart, hugely popular in the south as well as in the north with films such as Nayakan, Thevar Magan, "Sadma", "Saagar" and Chachi 420" that bridged language divides, said if you are truly looking at international breakthrough you must learn one language. And English seems to be fair enough. You can do Spanish also, or Chinese. But I think the most practical thing where the shortest route to that is that we have 350 years of English education, slowly but steadily. So when you suddenly replace it, it's all over again. You make unnecessarily many people illiterate, especially in Tamil Nadu. "You suddenly force all through Hindi and you tell them that you will not get your job beyond the Vindhyas, then you start wondering, what about the promises? What about my language? Am I not one of the 22 (official languages)? These are the questions that are coming." Tamil is one of the 22 official languages of the country, apart from Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Telugu, Urdu, Bodo, Santhali, Maithili and Dogri. The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) had said it would not let Thug Life release unless Haasan apologised for his Kannada-Tamil comment at a promotional event in Chennai. His banner Raajkamal Films International filed a plea before the Karnataka High Court seeking protection for the release of the film, which sees him reuniting with Mani Ratnam after Nayakan in 1987. After a rap from the court over the remark, the producers said Thug Life will not be released in Karnataka.
