Italy FIFA World Cup Winner Argues 'Napoli Under Pressure & Inter Milan Have The Wind In Their Sails' In Serie A Title Run-In
Beppe Bergomi feels that Napoli are 'under pressure' while Inter Milan 'have the wind in their sails' in the Serie A title race.
The legendary former Nerazzurri captain and 1982 World Cup winner with Italy gave his thoughts on the title race in today's print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

There are now just two matches to go in the Serie A title race.
Inter Milan and Napoli are separated by just a single point at the top of the table.
Therefore, it is clear that the title race is still far from over.
The Partenopei undoubtedly have the advantage. If they win both their matches, against Parma and Cagliari, they will win the title no matter what Inter do.
However, those are going to be tricky matches. As are the Nerazzurri's final two league outings against the likes of Lazio and Como.
Therefore, it will go down to the wire, without question.
And the question of momentum could prove to be crucial. Particularly considering that Napoli dropped points against Genoa last weekend.

Inter, on the other hand, are riding high on reaching the Champions League final.

Beppe Bergomi writes that 'It's impossible to say exactly what will happen in this round of fixtures.'
'But it's inevitable to think that Napoli are the favourite to win in the end.'
'In any event, this will be an unpredictable weekend for everyone,' Bergomi continues. 'Particularly for Conte's team.'
'And it won't necessarily be decisive.'
'How they'll react to seeing their advantage go down to just a point we can't know,' Bergomi notes. 'But it's obvious that the pressure they're under is increasing.'

'Meanwhile, Inter suddenly have the wind in their sails. And being in the hunt for the title can also be good for them in the Champions League.'
'The team is obligated to stay alive in it right until the last second.'

Matthäus: Sané should be at World Cup if he delivers for Galatasaray

Germany's Leroy Sane in action during the UEFA Nations League semi final soccer match between Germany and Portugal at Allianz Arena. Sven Hoppe/dpa Former Germany and Bayern Munich captain Lothar Matthäus has welcomed Leroy Sané's move to Galatasaray and believes he has a good chance of retaining his place in the national team and playing at the 2026 World Cup if he delivers for the Istanbul club. "It is up to Leroy: If he performs for Gala in the league and in the Champions League as well he has a very good chance to play at the World Cup," Matthäus told Saturday's Bild paper. Advertisement Germany winger Sané, 29, joined Turkish domestic double winners Galatasaray in mid-week on a three-year contract on a free transfer after five seasons at Bayern Munich. Matthäus, who led Germany to the 1990 World Cup title, spoke of a "super" transfer for Sané and a big statement by Galatasaray. "Galatasaray have ambitions, a big budget, Turkish football has become stronger, the time of scandals is over," he said. He praised "super stadiums" in Turkey, and good coaches "who have brought calm to the clubs." Matthäus said that Sané never had this kind of standing in Munich which resulted in renewal talks collapsing because the club wanted him to accept a pay cut. Advertisement "The club didn't really want to keep him. While other players got considerably more money in their renewals, Bayern went on the salary brakes with him," Matthäus said. "Bayern never really fought for Sané."

Award: Stadium build Value: $175 million Location: Sacramento, California Client: Sacramento Republic FC Turner Construction has scored another win for its stadium project portfolio. The New York City-based firm will build a $175 million soccer venue for Sacramento Republic FC in downtown Sacramento, California, according to a news release from the team and a term sheet from the city of Sacramento, which approved the deal June 10. The facility will have a capacity of 12,000 for soccer matches, with the ability to expand to 15,000 for concerts and other events, according to the club's stadium FAQ page. The project is expected to create over 1,200 construction jobs, according to the club, and over $240 million in economic impact from construction alone. The stadium is part of a larger $321 million entertainment district in the California capital city's Railyards district, according to the Sacramento Bee. That area, which is directly adjacent to the city's downtown government and business district, served as the western terminus of the first transcontinental railroad in the mid-1800s. Redeveloping the site has been a major focus of the city over the last two decades. Turner is no stranger to stadium development and construction. Its portfolio encompasses arenas and stadiums for many professional sports teams, including the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, home of the NBA's Kings, which opened in 2016. Turner also built Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California (with Devcon Construction), SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California (with AECOM Hunt) and FC Cincinnati's TQL Stadium. The firm is currently working on a $2.1 billion stadium (also with AECOM Hunt) for the NFL's Tennessee Titans. It also recently topped out the $2.1 billion Buffalo Bills stadium with Gilbane. Groundbreaking is set for the Republic FC stadium later this summer, with a scheduled opening slated for the 2027 USL Championship league season.
