Oppo has launched its popular camera-centric smartphones, the Reno 14 Pro 5G and the Oppo Reno 14 5G, in India. The OPPO Reno 14 Pro 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8450 chipset, meanwhile the base model has a MediaTek Dimensity 8350 SoC. Both handsets are equipped with triple rear camera setups, including 50MP main rear cameras and 50MP selfie cameras. Oppo has launched Reno 14 Pro 5G and Reno 14 5G in India with upgraded features. The Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G is available in two configurations: 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and is priced at Rs. 49,999, and a higher-end model with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, is priced at Rs. 54,999, respectively. It is available in two colour options: Pearl White and Titanium Grey.

On the other hand, the base Oppo Reno 14 5G starts at Rs. 37,999 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. There are two additional variants with 12GB RAM, which is priced at Rs. 39,999 for 256GB storage and Rs. 42,999 for 512GB storage. The Reno 14 comes in Forest Green and Pearl White colour options. The Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G features a 6.83-inch LTPS OLED screen with a 1.5K resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The display supports up to 1,200 nits of brightness and comes protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. It also offers features such as splash resistance and glove touch functionality. The device runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 8450 processor built on a 4nm process paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. The device runs on ColorOS 15.0.2 based on Android 15 and includes Google Gemini support along with AI-powered features like AI Unblur, AI Recompose, AI Call Assistant, and AI Mind Space.

On the other hand, the standard Oppo Reno 14 5G comes with a smaller 6.59-inch OLED screen with the same 1.5K resolution. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 chipset and houses a 6,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging support. The software and connectivity options largely mirror those of the Pro model. Both the OPPO Reno 14 Pro and Reno 14 models are equipped with triple rear cameras. The Pro model has a 50MP main sensor supported by a 50MP periscope telephoto lens capable of 3.5x optical zoom. Both rear cameras feature optical image stabilisation (OIS) and can record 4K HDR videos at 60 frames per second. The third rear sensor on the Pro is a 50MP ultrawide camera. It has a 50MP camera on the front for selfies and video calling.
In contrast, the base Reno 14 has a similar camera layout but replaces the 50MP ultrawide sensor with an 8MP ultrawide lens. The front-facing camera remains at 50MP.

The Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G houses a 6,200mAh battery with 80W wired SuperVOOC charging and 50W AirVOOC wireless charging support. The standard Reno 14's battery is slightly smaller at 6,000mAh and supports 80W wired fast charging, but does not support wireless charging.
Both devices offer dual nano-SIM slots with eSIM capability, 5G and 4G network support, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, and USB Type-C ports. They also include dual stereo speakers and an in-display optical fingerprint scanner. The devices carry IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. The Surajpur waste water treatment plant (Gautam Budh Nagar) is being upgraded to SBR technology with a capacity of 6 MLD at a cost of Rs 899 lakh, targeted for completion by June 2026. The EPIP Kasna waste water treatment plant (3.6 MLD) is being upgraded with SBR technology at a cost of Rs 678.59 lakh. The Loni STP in Ghaziabad, based on MBBR technology, is operating at full capacity (5 MLD). Meanwhile, the Loni common effluent treatment plant dedicated to dyeing and textile waste is set for a major upgrade—from 6 MLD to 16 MLD—with a Rs 42 crore DPR already prepared. UPSIDA is integrating solar energy solutions into water purification plants and industrial areas. Rooftop solar panels are being installed at plant sites, leading to a significant reduction in energy costs and carbon emissions.

Ludhiana: In an interesting achievement for the city youth innovation ecosystem, two Class XII students Abhishek Dhanda and Prabhkirat Singh have developed an innovative automated vermocompost unit for sustainable waste management. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Their innovation, Prithvi Rakshak, is a one-of-a-kind, student-led, fully automated vermicomposting unit that uses advanced technology to convert organic waste into high-quality compost, almost three times faster than conventional methods. The idea first germinated at an innovation event held at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), where the duo initially experimented with kitchen waste and local bio-waste. Inspired by the potential of vermicomposting but frustrated by its slow pace, they began reengineering the process. "We realised the key to speeding up the composting cycle was in creating optimal conditions for the earthworms, mainly temperature and humidity. That's where sensors, robotics, and AI came in," Abhishek said. Using AI-driven temperature and humidity sensors, along with a proprietary bioenzyme formula, the students at BCM Arya Model School, Shastri Nagar succeeded in reducing the traditional composting cycle from 60 to 90 days to just 38 days. Their robotic assistant, VermiDoot, collects and processes organic waste, while their companion mobile app, VermiVeda, helps monitor the system and manage operations remotely. The unit is also IoT-enabled, allowing real-time data tracking. They said that their startup has already processed over 12,000 kg of organic waste monthly, generating Rs 1 lakh in revenue and a single unit could scale to Rs 2.5-Rs 3 lakh per month. "Since we are able to observe the parameters 24x7, and also control them to create the most conductive environment, not only is vermicompost create much faster but also of high quality which has optimal moisture, pH and other parameters, for improving soil fertility," said Prabhkirat. Their efforts have earned widespread recognition both nationally and internationally. The students represented India at the IEEE Junior Scientist International Competition in Tunisia, where their work was showcased at Science City. They were also finalists in the Net Zero Carbon Emission Challenge, EcoHackathon Delhi, and Eureka Junior, and ranked among the top 10 in the MESA Business School Pitch Competition. On the home front, they have been lauded in events such as TechNiche at IIT Guwahati winning Rs 45,000 prize, and cash prizes at WRO Nationals and Eco-Innovators Ideathon as well, they said. Their innovation was also among the top 35 out of 1.9 lakh entries in the Eco-Hackathon Showcase, an event co-organised by Amazon and the ministry of environment, forest and climate change (MoEFCC), they said. ICT Mumbai biocluster receives catalytic funding to boost translational biopharma research

Mumbai: In a significant boost to India's translational research ecosystem, ICT Mumbai's Biocluster secured Rs 30 crore in catalytic funding from the Indian Translational Research Institute (ITRI). The translational biopharmaceutical facility aims to bridge the gap between lab-stage research and clinical application. The eight-storey cluster will focus on rare diseases, synthetic biology, and AI-driven drug development. It will house a GMP-ready biologics pilot plant, shared R&D infrastructure, and advanced training zones for workforce development.
