Cardiff, NSW: Two teens seriously injured after car, bike collide in Hunter Region
Two teenagers have been seriously injured after an allegedly stolen motorbike collided with a car in the Hunter Region.
Police are investigating a crash that occurred between a motorcycle and Mazda 3 hatchback at the intersection of Main Rd and Lowry St, in Cardiff, during a routine patrol just after 2am on Sunday.
Two 16-year old boys — the rider and pillion passenger on the bike — were given first aid until the NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived. They were transported to John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The teenagers were both wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
Police inquiries established the motorcycle has been reported stolen from Edgeworth on May 11, but was not involved in a pursuit prior to the crash.
The 52-year old driver of the car escaped injury and was also taken to the same hospital for mandatory testing.
A crime scene has been established and is being examined by specialist police.
Police are urging anyone who may have information about the crash, or with any available dashcam/mobile phone footage, to contact Belmont Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Teenage boy among two dead in horror night on Sydney roads
A 16-year-old boy and a woman in her 40s have been killed in two separate incidents on Sydney roads overnight, as police launch a statewide traffic operation for the King's Birthday long weekend. About 8.10pm on Thursday, emergency services were called to reports of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of the Hume Highway and Worth Street at Greenacre. Police were told a truck and a small hatchback had collided, and a 16-year-old boy who was the passenger of the hatchback died at the crash scene. A second hatchback passenger, also believed to be a young boy, was rushed to The Children's Hospital at Westmead in a critical condition. The woman driving the car was also taken to hospital in a critical condition, while a man sitting in the front passenger seat was in a stable condition. At 6am on Friday, Nine reported the truck was still at the scene, as crash investigators gathered evidence. A crime scene was established, and the Hume Highway remains closed eastbound. Police are urging the public to avoid the area. In another tragic road incident earlier on Thursday evening, a pedestrian was killed on Macquarie Avenue in Penrith in an alleged hit-and-run. The woman was struck by a ute about 5.30pm, and police allege the ute driver drove away from the scene without stopping. NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the woman, believed to be in her 40s, at the scene, but she couldn't be saved.
