Teens seriously injured when motorcycle and car collide
Two teenage boys riding a reportedly stolen motorcycle have been seriously injured in a crash with a car in Cardiff. About 2am on Sunday, officers from Lake Macquarie Police District on routine patrol drove across a crash between a motorcycle and Mazda 3 hatchback at the intersection of Main Road and Lowry Street, Cardiff. Police rendered first aid to the occupants of the motorcycle until the ambulance arrived. The rider and pillion passenger - both aged 16 - were taken to John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition. Both boys were wearing helmets at the time of the crash. The driver of the car - a 52-year-old man - was not injured and was taken to John Hunter Hospital for mandatory testing. A crime scene was established and is being examined by Crash Investigation Unit officers. Inquiries established that the motorcycle was reported stolen from Edgeworth on May 11. The motorcycle had not been involved in a pursuit before the crash. Wrong-way driver killed in crash on Interstate 85 in Belmont identified: Police
BELMONT, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A wrong-way crash early Friday morning on Interstate 85 in Belmont left one man dead and another injured, according to Belmont Police. The crash happened around 1:23 a.m. near mile marker 25 on the northbound side of I-85. Just minutes earlier, police had received a report of a car driving in the wrong direction near Exit 27. Suspect flees scene in 'horrific' fatal crash on Beatties Ford Road in north Charlotte: CMPD When Belmont officers arrived at the scene, they found two vehicles damaged: a 2021 Mercedes Sprinter van and a 2015 Hyundai Elantra. Investigators determined that the Elantra was the vehicle traveling the wrong way. The driver, identified as Jorge Narino, 23, of Charlotte, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Mercedes van suffered minor injuries and was taken to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte for treatment, police said. Firefighters work to contain gas leaks after possible 'explosion' sparks 2-alarm fire at Charlotte home Northbound lanes of I-85 were closed for several hours overnight while investigators from the Belmont Police Traffic and Crime Scene Units worked the scene. Several neighboring departments, including Gastonia, Mt. Holly, Lowell, and Cramerton, also responded. Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
