
Lecturers, aide held for raping 19-yr-old student in Bengaluru
According to police, the accused, identified as Narendra K, (27), a physics lecturer and Sandeep BN, (28), a biology lecturer from a college in Moodabidri, Dakshina Kannada district, and their friend R Anoop (27), a software engineer, were arrested in Bengaluru after the woman submitted a complaint to the Karnataka State Women's Commission on July 10.

According to her complaint, the woman, a student from the same college, visited Bengaluru for some work in February, when on the pretext of sharing academic notes, Narendra took her to Anoop's house in Marathahalli, and raped her. He then threatened the student against informing anyone about the incident, police said citing her complaint.
After the incident, Sandeep allegedly started blackmailing her seeking sexual favours. When she resisted, he allegedly threatened to release photos and videos of her with Narendra, which were reportedly in his possession, and sexually assaulted her again at Anoop's place in Mayon at least four different occasions, police said.
'We arrested all three accused on Monday on charges of raping and threatening the 19-year-old woman,' Marathahalli police inspector BK Chetan said. 'We have booked them under BNS section 63 (rape) and launched an investigation,' he added.
Police also said that they are now investigating whether the accused targeted any other students.

Two brothers arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a ‘minor' girl in Odisha
Two brothers have been arrested for sexually assaulting a minor girl and impregnating her in Odisha's Jagatsinghpur district. The girl now, 18, were subjected to sexual assault by 62-year-old Bhagyadhar Dash and his younger brother, 46-year-old Panchanan Pradhan, for months that resulted in her pregnancy. The girl when she was minor was working as a cook in the house of two Dash brothers. The accused used to threaten the victim of dire consequence if she opened her mouth outside. The two siblings were also accused of attempting to kill the girl. Since the girl had lost her mother at young age and belong to poor family, the two siblings were said to have take advantage of it. Family members of the girl took to hospital when she complained about pain in stomach. After detailed health check-up, she was found to be pregnant. The two brothers tried to hush up the matter with help of other influential villagers by offering financial help and issuing threat. A case against the accused persons and another villagers had been registered under Sections 49, 62(2)(m), and 351(3) of the BNS, along with Section 6 of the POCSO Act. Both the victim and the accused were sent to the District Headquarters Hospital in Jagatsinghpur for medical examination. The two main accused were arrested and forwarded to court on Friday (July 25, 2025).

Odisha Man Charged For Acid Attack On 4 Cows Outside House: Cops
Berhampur: A man was booked in Odisha's Ganjam district for allegedly throwing acid at four cows that were grazing outside his house, police said on Friday. The cows suffered serious burn injuries in the acid attack that took place in Gandhi Nagar, they said. "We have registered a case against the accused person under different sections of the BNS and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act," said Saubhagya Kumar Swain, the inspector-in-charge of the Berhampur Town police station. The accused person has been served with a notice, he said. The owner of the cows alleged that the accused had earlier threatened him not to free his animals, as they were destroying the green fencing of his house. The injured cows are undergoing treatment at the veterinary hospital here.

Came from Delhi, fled without trace: Cops scan 100 CCTV feeds to track Ghaziabad store jewellery robbers
Ghaziabad: After two men robbed a jewellery store in Brij Vihar on Thursday, police have launched a search operation to nab the accused. Cops, so far, have scanned over 100 CCTV feeds to identify the men who, dressed in Swiggy and Blinkit delivery rider uniforms, looted the shop. The footage from the store showed two people wearing helmets when they entered the jewellery store and escaped with gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 30 lakh. At the time of the incident, the shop owner, Krishna Verma of Brijesh Vihar, was at home, and the store's staff member, Shubham Kumar, was present. In one of the videos that is circulating on social media, the men are seen entering the shop, and they start pushing Kumar inside the store while one person takes out a gun from his trousers to threaten the staff. The second person then starts collecting all valuables in a bag, and after attacking Kumar, they escape from the scene on bike. Explaining the ordeal that went on for six minutes, Kumar said, "I was afraid, and my mind was not working after seeing the gun while one of the robbers was very aggressive. He was slapping me, and more than three times, he pointed a pistol at me in those six minutes of robbery." Shweta Yadav, ACP, Sahibabad, said that based on the complaint, an FIR was registered against unknown persons under Section 309 (4) (punishment for robbery) of BNS in the Link Road police station. Five teams have been formed to nab the accused. "Initial investigation revealed that the accused came from the Delhi side, and after the robbery, they fled towards Delhi also. We have checked over hundreds of the CCTV cameras in Ghaziabad and Delhi, but we didn't get any clue. The number plates on the bike used by the accused are also fake," Yadav said.
