Isolated strong storms possible in Southeast Michigan Tuesday afternoon and evening
There is a marginal (one out of five) risk of strong to severe storms in Southeast Michigan for the Tuesday afternoon and evening commute.
The main threats will be isolated and not widespread from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Tuesday.
There is an isolated chance for strong wind gusts at 50 to 60 miles per hour, as well as some heavy downpours that could lead to localized flooding.
A new front will move in and bring some storms ahead of it, into Tuesday night.
Behind the front, temperatures will go from near 90 degrees to the low 80s. The average high temperature in Detroit is 82 degrees.
Feels like temperatures will go from the mid- to upper 90s back closer to the actual temperatures.

Powerful torrents driven by intense rain smashed into a Himalayan mountain village in Indian-administered Kashmir and killed at least 37 people on Thursday, a top disaster management official told AFP. Officials said a large makeshift kitchen where there were more than 100 pilgrims -- who were not registered with local authorities -- was completely washed away. Rescue teams were facing difficulty reaching the area and soldiers also joined the effort. Roads had already been damaged by days of heavy storms. The area lies more than 200 kilometres (125 miles) by road from the region's main city Srinagar. "Every possible assistance will be provided to those in need," Prime Minister Narendra Modi said. Floods on August 5 swept away the Himalayan town of Dharali in India's Uttarakhand state and buried it in mud. The likely death toll from that disaster is more than 70 but has yet to be confirmed. Floods and landslides are common during the monsoon season from June to September, but experts say climate change, coupled with poorly planned development, is increasing their frequency and severity. Firefighters battle wildfire along California highway north of Los Angeles
GORMAN, Calif. — Firefighters were battling a wildfire along Interstate 5 north of Los Angeles early Thursday, officials said. The King Fire was burning about 400 acres (162 hectares) with 5% containment near Smokey Bear Road along the freeway in northern Los Angeles County, the Angeles National Forest said in a statement posted on social media. One recreational vehicle park in the area was sheltering in place and an evacuation warning was in place for another, officials said.
