Jackson County Sheriff's Office using new Flock Safety cameras
BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The Jackson County Sheriff's Office has joined other western Wisconsin law enforcement departments in utilizing Flock Safety cameras. Six new Flock cameras are now placed around the county to help the sheriff's office investigate crimes. Sheriff Duane Waldera reports there have been some privacy concerns about the Flock cameras from some Jackson County citizens. He says Flock cameras don't gather information on the person driving, the speed the vehicle is traveling, or how many people are in the car. They take pictures of the license plate that deputies can then use in their investigations. Sheriff Waldera explained, 'There are certain cases that would be really extreme crisis-type cases, let's call it a homicide or some major event that happened in our community. That if we would have had flat cameras, we would have had another layer or a lead and a possibility of solving something.' The purchase of the Fock Safety cameras came from previously budgeted money. However, if the department is going to continue its involvement in the program, they would need it to be included in and approved by the Jackson County budgetary process. RPD: Two men caught on camera after Genesee St. gunfire
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Two men have been arrested after an investigation into gunfire in the area of Genesee Street and Sawyer Street. A ShotSpotter activation around 11:40 p.m. Tuesday night led officers to the area. The blue light camera caught a Chevy Tahoe with two males in possession of a handgun. Officers said they found the vehicle on West High Terrace and detained 45-year-old Willie Daniels, who was next to it. They then saw a second male, identified as 37-year-old Detroit Kelly, leave the backyard of a nearby home. Investigators found a loaded handgun recovered from the backyard in the area and discovered the car was struck by at least one gunshot. No injuries were reported. Daniels and Kelly were arrested and charged with second and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Both were taken to the Monroe County Jail and were arraigned in Rochester City Court. They are being held without bail. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
