Florida baseball's first-year right-hander earns third SEC Freshman of the Week award
Florida baseball's first-year right-handed starting pitcher Aidan King was named the SEC Freshman of the Week, the conference announced on Monday afternoon. It is the third such honor for the young hurler out of Jacksonville, Florida.
King earned a decisive victory over the then-top-ranked Texas Longhorns on Sunday afternoon thanks to seven shutout, two-hit innings. From the opening pitch to his final salvo the true freshman dominated, striking out a career-high nine batters against just a trio of walks, while setting personal bests in innings and pitches (110).
The victory helped clinch the Gators' penultimate series of the 2025 regular-season campaign and gave the 'Horns their first home series defeat this spring.
With just one series left on the regular-season schedule, King has amassed a 5-2 record thanks to a 2.90 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 64-to-19 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 59 innings pitched. The young gun has been peaking at the right time too, allowing just a single earned run in 14 1/3 innings over his last three starts, giving the Gator a 0.63 ERA through that stretch.

Bucs HC Todd Bowles shares update on Antoine Winfield Jr. from OTAs
Bucs HC Todd Bowles shares update on Antoine Winfield Jr. from OTAs The Bucs have always been a franchise that relies on playmakers from their defense to determine their success or failure within a season. The latest bona fide playmaker on the Bucs roster, who is on the road to being remembered as one of the greats, is Antoine Winfield Jr. The former Minnesota Golden Gopher made his presence known as a rookie and played a part in their Super Bowl-winning season. From there, he has been named to an All-Pro team, and he has earned a monumental extension from the team. So when he missed significant time last year, it affected the team. This week, Todd Bowles spoke to the media and shared his thoughts on how the All-Pro safety looked early on at OTAs. "He's been great. I mean, he looks like he's in great shape. He's been here almost every day. He puts in the work, he puts in the time, and I like where he's at right now." Winfield Jr. played in just nine games in 2024, the lowest amount in his NFL career. He had career lows across the board in every category since entering the NFL in 2020, so he will be coming into the 2025 season with a chip on his shoulder. It seems so far he is on the right path to righting a season he sees as a wrong.

Ryan Garcia next fight: 3 opponents options for ‘King Ry's' return, including Devin Haney
The Ryan Garcia next fight news should arrive in the coming months. While his legion of fans wait, we look at three likely opponent options and recap his surprising loss to Rolly Romero. Who will Ryan Garcia's next fight be against? Following a one-year suspension from the New York State Athletic Commission, Garcia returned to action against Rolando Romero on May 2. In an underwhelming performance, the Victorville native took a unanimous decision loss. Advertisement While a rematch may not be warranted, Garcia expressed his interest in another shot against 'Rolly.' There is no shortage of names at 147 pounds to give him the opportunity at redemption that he is seeking, including Rolando Romero, Giovanni Santillan, or a Haney rematch. Rolly: Rolando Romero may want to seek bigger fights at 147 pounds after a decisive victory over Garcia. However, he recently stated that he would be open to 'whoop Garcia' for a second time. Gallo de Oro: Giovanni Santillan is among the top-10 contenders at welterweight. The sole loss of his career came against Brian Norman Jr. via a tenth-round knockout defeat for the vacant WBO interim title. 'Gallo de Oro' would be a suitable opponent if Garcia wants to keep his name in the picture at 147 pounds. The Dream: With a rematch against Haney rumored for the fall of this year, Garcia needed a strong showing against Romero. Even in defeat, all indicators seem to point to a second meeting anyway. The WBC junior welterweight 'champion in recess' has made it clear that he 'seeks revenge' against Garcia. Ryan Garcia vs. Rolando Romero recap Ryan Garcia entered the contest against Rolando Romero as the heavy favorite, at -1100. However, Garcia didn't deliver as the odds anticipated, appearing as anything except the favorite. What happened: The former WBA junior welterweight champion dictated the pace of the fight. He landed a solid left hook that put Garcia down in the first round. After a year away from the ring, it definitely showed as Garcia offered little to no offense in return. Advertisement The Result: 'Rolly' was the busier fighter, as he connected on 57 out of 280 punches thrown (20%). Although Garcia landed 66 out of 210 punches (31%), he didn't land anything significant to stop Romero in his tracks. After the scores of 115-112 (twice) and 118-110, Romero pulled off the big upset in a unanimous decision win. What's next? The Victorville native didn't get the redemption he needed upon his return. However, he may get a shot to set the record straight against Devin Haney, as a rematch is speculated for October. What makes Ryan Garcia so popular? Ryan Garcia Next Fight Despite controversy after a failed drug test in his last outing against Devin Haney, Garcia has always been one of the most exciting young fighters in boxing. At age 19, he had won 13 of his 14 professional fights by stoppage victory. 5-star Oregon Football commit schedules official visits to multiple schools
Earlier this spring, the Oregon Ducks received great news on the recruiting trail, landing a surprise commitment from five-star edge rusher Richard Wesley. The 247Sports composite lists the 6-foot-5, 250-pound edge as the No. 14 player overall and the No. 2 player at his position in the 2026 class. While his commitment added a needed boost to the Ducks' recruiting class in 2026, it doesn't appear his pledge ended the process. Reports emerged in the days following Wesley's commitment that name, image and likeness licensing issues still needed to be ironed out, and the commitment came as a surprise to even the player's parents. Advertisement Now, Wesley has announced he will take a number of official visits this summer and fall while he continues to weigh his options. The first official visit will be to Eugene on June 6. A trip to the Texas Longhorns follows on June 20. The date for the visit to the Texas A&M Aggies has not yet been finalized. Wesley will go to see the Ohio State Buckeyes on Aug. 30, the weekend they host the Longhorns for the season-opener in Columbus. In the world of recruiting, it has generally been beneficial for teams to have the final official visit, giving them the "last word," so to speak. However, in the NIL era, that seems to be less predictable. The highest bidder usually wins out. While Wesley is committed to Oregon, it has become clear this recruitment is far from over.
