'WHAT a good idea!' said Zog. Then up and off he flew.
They are words I have read out loud to my four-year-old daughter at hundreds of bedtimes, from Julia Donaldson's story Zog.

My family loved the Zog Live show at Warwick Castle

So we both had big smiles on our faces as we heard it while watching Warwick Castle's Zog Live show.
The charming show, running until September, was a big hit, with smoke, giant dragons and a knight on horseback.
My daughter Estella also couldn't wait to see Zog Playland, tugging my hand and urging 'Come on Mummy!' as she raced down a wooden walkway towards the slide which is a kid-friendly gateway to the area.
It was difficult to coax her from this bright play area that's designed with younger children in mind, full of inventive swings, tunnels, towers and even a zip line.
And my two boys, Henry, 11, and Nicholas, seven, were right in their element at the Horrible Histories maze next door.
Based on the bestselling books, the mind-muddling maze takes families on a journey through time, picking up fascinating, funny — and gross — facts along the way.
Warwick Castle is a great day out for families with kids of all ages because such a wide variety of attractions, shows and tours are included with your entry ticket.
The boys were captivated by The Legend Of The Trebuchet show, awe-struck by the giant wooden siege machine catapulting ammo across the sky in dramatic style.
And also gracing those skies, best observed from the beautiful riverside setting, were the stars of The Falconer's Quest show, the UK's largest birds of prey display.
And all this adventure came before we had even set foot inside the imposing castle, with its near-1,000-year history.
Scotland's Hidden Gem: Codona's Named Best Family Day Out at Entertainment Awards
Our guided tour of the Great Hall and State rooms gave the children an insight into what life would have been like within their walls, while The Kingmaker walkthrough exhibit recreated the sounds and the atmosphere of the build-up to a War of the Roses battle.
But Estella and I sought a moment's solace from all the bloodthirsty historic tales with a trip up the Princess Tower.
It's a delightful interactive storytelling experience aimed at children aged three upwards, where we helped crown Princess Eve the Queen of Warwick.
Before we headed home, we scaled the ramparts and towers with the many stone steps of the spiral stairs ensuring we had three worn-out adventurers at the end of the day.
In the words of the magical Zog, our day out at Warwick Castle really had been a good idea.

Unlock cheaper shopping bills and holidays with genius Apple ‘AI tricks' that work on your iPhone, iPad and Mac

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) APPLE fans can slash their shopping bills and find cheap holidays using their gadget's built-in AI tricks. It's perfect if you've got an iPhone, iPad or Mac computer lying around at home – just waiting for a free AI upgrade. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 13 Your Apple gadgets have some handy AI tricks that you might be missing out on Credit: Apple 13 You can create a fun emoji for your bedtime stories Credit: Sean Keach 13 Then you can generate an entire bedtime story based on your virtual character Credit: Sean Keach The Sun can reveal five clever tricks that work using Apple Intelligence, and they only take a few seconds each. The only note is that you'll need an Apple gadget that actually supports Apple Intelligence. That includes: iPhone 15 Pro iPhone 15 Pro Max iPhone 16 iPhone 16 Plus iPhone 16 Pro iPhone 16 Pro Max iPhone 16e iPad Pro (M1 and later) iPad Air (M1 and later) iPad mini (A17 Pro) MacBook Air/Pro (M1 and later) iMac/Mac Mini (M1 and later) Mac Studio (M1 Max and later) Mac Pro (M2 Ultra) Apple AI Trick #1 – BEDTIME STORIES Your iPhone can create bedtime stories for kids. It's a perfect parenting hack. Just go into Messages, bring up the keyboard, tap on Genmoji, then create a funny character. Maybe it's a squirrel with a shovel or an elephant in a chef's hat. This will be your character. Now go into Notes, tap on Writing Tools, then choose Compose with ChatGPT, and ask for a short story about your elephant chef – and say they're going on an adventure. It'll create the story, which you can then illustrate by dropping the Genmoji at the top. Or you could even go into Apple's Image Playground app and make a full picture, then paste that in instead. It's perfect for bedtime because you can have a different story every night. Apple interview with Greg Joz Joswiak on new artificial intelligence, screening, hold assist, carplay, liquid glass and ios updates Apple AI Trick #2 – HOLIDAY PLANNER Another easy trick is letting Apple's AI plan your holiday – or at least the itinerary. This one works on iPhone and iPad, but we tried it on Mac. Just double-click the Command button on your keyboard to bring up Siri. Then type in your request, like asking for a three-day hiking trip in the Cotswolds. 13 You can type to Siri and ask for help with holiday planning Credit: Sean Keach 13 Siri can use ChatGPT to generate a holiday itinerary in seconds Credit: Sean Keach You could even ask for a budget-friendly holiday with cheap activities to save money. Let Siri send your request to ChatGPT and it'll make a full itinerary that you can drop straight into a document. And you can even generate a fun AI pic to go with it too using Apple's Image Playground feature. Apple AI Trick #3 – SKETCH EXPERT I'm hopeless at drawing, but AI isn't. HOW DOES CHATGPT WORK ON IPHONE? Here's the official guidance from Apple... "Siri can tap into ChatGPT for certain requests, including questions about photos or documents," Apple explained. "And with Compose in Writing Tools, you can create and illustrate original content from scratch. "You control when ChatGPT is used and will be asked before any of your information is shared. Anyone can access ChatGPT for free, without creating an account. "ChatGPT subscribers can connect accounts to access paid features within these experiences." Picture Credit: Apple There's a clever trick that turns your own sketches into art – and it works using the Apple Pencil on an iPad. Draw something rough in the Notes app – we sketched a terrarium – and then write what it is next to it. Now go into the Apple Pencil menu, choose the AI button, and circle your creation. And in just a few seconds, it'll transform what you've drawn into a proper sketch. You can even swipe through several options to find the perfect one. 13 Even a very average sketch can be transformed using Apple's AI Credit: Sean Keach 13 You can convert your drawings into impressive pieces of art in the Notes app Credit: Sean Keach It's a nice way to illustrate your notes quickly. Another handy tip: if you draw a shape like a square, circle, or star, and leave the Apple Pencil tip pressed to the screen at the end, it'll neaten it up for you. So your rough circle will snap to become perfectly round in an instant. This also works with drawing arrows too. Apple AI Trick #4 – PHOTO CLEAN-UP Fourth is Clean Up, which is built into Apple's default Photos app on your iPhone. 13 You can use Clean Up to remove almost any object from a scene Credit: Sean Keach It's a handy way to scrub unwanted objects from your pics. Maybe you've snapped Big Ben but there's a tourist in the way, or someone has photobombed your perfect selfie. Just go into the photo, tap on the edit button, and then choose the Clean Up option. Then you can tap on, rub over, or circle the object that you want to delete. 13 If you spot something unwanted in your photo, just get rid of it virtually Credit: Sean Keach 13 Just circle, scrub or tap the object that you want to remove Credit: Sean Keach 13 Clean Up will delete the object in seconds – replacing it with background Credit: Sean Keach Give it a few seconds and it should vanish from view, replaced by what the AI thinks should've been in the spot. If it doesn't work perfectly on the first go, you can give it a few more passes with Clean Up to get it right. And you can always revert back to the original image at any time if you don't like the edited version. Apple AI Trick #5 – SHOPPING HACK Lastly, there's a handy trick called Visual Intelligence that's great for shopping. First, you'll want to load it up. One way is to go into Settings > Action Button and set it to activate from your Action Button. Or if you have an iPhone with a Camera Control button, you can just hold that down instead. Now snap a pic of an object. We tried it on a Labubu, which is a massively popular collectible toy. 13 You can scan almost anything using Visual Intelligence – and then see if Google can find it online Credit: Sean Keach 13 You can find the cheapest prices or lookalike alternatives for loads of products, including clothes and furniture Credit: Sean Keach But it also works just fine on clothes or furniture that you like too. The AI will identify what it's seeing, and then show you a load of places that you can buy it online. You can then find the best price for the exact item you're looking at. And it'll usually also surface similar-looking items if you snap clothes or furniture, so it's a clever way to find cheap 'dupes' of expensive items that you like.

I'm from a Mediterranean city where people speak English and pay in pounds – but there's one Brit item shops won't sell

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) WHAT'S not to love about Gibraltar? It's has average highs of 28C, it's just three hours from the UK, everyone speaks English and you can pay in pounds. But one half Gibraltarian, half English woman has revealed that Brits make plenty of mistakes when visiting the island. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 10 Gibraltar is a popular destination that sits on the peninsular of Spain's southern coast Credit: Alamy 10 Adele's grandparents live in Gibraltar and she visits at least twice a year Credit: Adele Cooke Win one of 8 incredible holidays to the Caribbean, Mexico and Greece by voting in The Sun's Travel Awards - enter to win here Sun writer Adele Cooke visits Gibraltar to see her family at least twice a year, and here she shares with us all her secret viewpoints, favourite local haunts and mistakes to avoid when visiting 'Gib'. Adele told us: "My mum is Gibraltarian, and all her family all live there - the short story is that the family moved from Genoa in Italy. "A lot of families do that and actually Michelle Keegan's family did the same - her grandma used to live opposite mine." Summer highs Adele's first piece of advice is when's best to visit, she told us: "Going in winter is a big no-no because a lot of the things to do in Gibraltar is outside. "If you go in the winter, you'll get highs of 12C. But it's not like being in Madeira where you'll get some like winter sun - it's properly cold. She's noticed that first-time visitors often aren't aware that the destination has a micro-climate because of the Levanter cloud. The Levanter cloud forms over the Rock of Gibraltar in certain conditions and will make the temperature colder than neighbouring areas in Spain. She said : "Personally, I go every May and September. The end of May is warm enough to go to the beach. "And then the start of September, the schools have gone back so there aren't lots of kids on the beach, and the flights are cheaper. "The flights this summer are expensive so if you do go then, you have to book quite far in advance." Join cheeky monkeys for cliff walks, caves and tapas in historic Gibraltar 10 Adele and her family know all the best spots from restaurants to cafes Credit: Adele Cooke 10 Adele suggested going in May or September - but avoid Gibraltar National Day Credit: Adele Cooke 10 Ocean Village is a great place for getting a bite to eat - and cheap cocktails Credit: Alamy Adele said she can generally get flights back from £80, but there are certain times of the year where the prices will be at an all-time high. She said: "Flights get really expensive around Gibraltar National Day which is in September. "It's a full weekend of events, there's lots of food, and they have firework displays, and everyone wears red and white. It's a day to celebrate being part of Britain." "Another time to be aware of is around Easter because it's a Catholic nation, so a lot of Gibraltarians will go back for that." Eating out Adele said one of the best places for an evening tipple is in the marina: "For drinks, I would go to Ocean Village which is a big complex at the marina. "In there is a casino, they've got an Irish pub for watching sports, Pizza Express, Wagamama, everything you need. "There's plenty of offers too, lots of places have happy hour with £6 cocktails and you can get coffees from £2. "If you don't like crowds and you want more of a quiet and relaxed evening, I'd go to Queensway Quay. It's another marina and it's the upmarket one. "It's really lovely if you want to go and look at the boats and have some drinks as it's usually less busy. "One place that's a hidden gem, is a restaurant at the university called Bistro Point. It's got a great view, you can sit outside and they do a great brunch." Another spot she recommends for anyone looking for quality seafood is the Jumpers Wheel Restaurant. It might not look like much on the outside, but Adele told us it's a great place to enjoy catch of the day, calamari, swordfish and octopus. 10 For a tasty brunch and incredible views head to Bistro Point Credit: 10 The Lavanter cloud can affect the temperature in Gibraltar Credit: Alamy Saving pennies Remember going on holiday with your mates and dread buying a round? Well there's none of that here. Adele told us: "I've bought a bottle of wine and a beer and it's come to just £17 in a bar before - a breakfast for a family of 10 can come to just £35, it's a very cheap place. "The food in Gibraltar as a whole is cheap and cheerful, you get big portions - I'd say it's Wetherspoons style." The good news for Brits is that Gibraltar does have its own currency, does take British pound too. Holiday hotels As for where to stay, Adele said: "Plenty of people book into the Holiday Inn as it's in a great location and very affordable, what most don't realise is it's beach on one side and next to one of Gibraltar's main cemeteries on the other. "If you do stay there, ask for a room on the rock side rather than a room on the cemetery side." To stay in central Gibraltar, Adele recommended the Sunborn Gibraltar resort which is right in Ocean Village - rooms start at £175 per night. Another great pick for visitors is The Eliott Hotel which has a rooftop pool, and the Rock Hotel which has recently been renovated. 10 Head to the sweeping Eastern Beach in Gibraltar for blue seas and lots of sand Credit: Google maps All the attractions If you head to Tripadvisor currently, one of the most highly recommended beaches in Gibraltar is Catalan Bay, but it's currently undergoing lots of construction work. Adele said: "There's lots of diggers out on that beach because they're reclaiming some land from the sea - so don't go there for the moment. "Instead, go to Eastern Beach, it's a great spot because you get more sun for longer." The reason the Eastern Beach stays sunnier for longer is because the Rock's shadow can block sunlight on other beaches. Sandy Bay is another popular beach but it can get windy. Other attractions around Gibraltar include the Spirit of the Rock, which is the only distillery in the old town - you can take the tour and have a tasting for £25. If you're looking to catch up with the news, don't try hunting for a newspaper as you won't find one. Adele explained: "Post-Brexit, you can't get them in Gibraltar, but you can buy them in Spain." 10 Book a tour in advance to go and see the dolphins Credit: Adele Cooke Tourist traps Like most places that you go, be mindful of the tourist traps. In the town centre, there will be lots of tour operators trying to sell tourists dolphin tours around Gibraltar. Adele said that for anyone wanting to head on a tour, have a look online first and book there instead. Everyone going with the few tour operators selling tickets in the square will then get into a crowded boat so when there's a dolphin, you're less likely to see it. And if you fancy heading up the Rock, do not drive yourself. She said: "Unless you're going to Spain, I wouldn't hire a car because it's quite sketchy to drive in Gibraltar. "Going up the Rock is very narrow, and on one side is just a cliff. Plus there are monkeys roaming around too. "Instead, use the great bus system, as it's very cheap."
