Not only will the 2026 Mustang avoid any big price hikes, reports noted, but there will be very little in the way of price increase at all. Most 2026 Mustang configurations will have the same prices that they had in 2025. Though this will not be the case for all versions; in fact, the reports noted that the 2025 versions could actually be around $2,500 cheaper than the 2026 models based on the application of certain incentives.
In fact, the base model 2026 Mustang will cost just $400 more than the 2025 version. Further, the base model is the only model of Mustang that sees an actual price hike. In fact, the 2026 Mustang EcoBoost Premium is actually $1,200 lower than it was in 2025. But there is one key difference: Ford apparently decided to make up the price difference on options. The 2026 Mustang no longer includes, as a standard, a Magnesium Framed Curved Glass Display. That is now an option for an extra $1,000.
The Ranger Splash?
We also know that Ford's 'No Boring Cars' campaign is still alive and well. But there may be one point that Ford is overlooking in pursuit of this, one report noted. Ford's dedication to removing the boring car could be extended to include trucks, and a previously-canceled line could be due for a comeback: the Ranger Splash.
The report suggested that it was time for something comparatively new in trucks, not just '…another towering double-cab monstrosity.' Indeed, the report called for 'something fun,' like the Ranger Splash, regarded by some as '…Ford's forgotten party truck.' Original marketing for the Ranger Splash noted its target market: '…a typical Splash buyer will be young, single, with an on-the-go lifestyle.' Sounds just like what No Boring Cars Ford needs right now. The Splash did get a comeback of sorts in 2022, however, though more as a color scheme than as an actual vehicle.
Is Ford Stock a Good Buy Right Now?

Ford recalls over 312,000 vehicles due to power brake assist losses while driving
Ford is recalling 312,120 US vehicles over a brake assist defect that may increase stopping distance and crash risk. The recall covers certain 2025 Lincoln Navigator, F-150, Expedition, Bronco, and Ranger models due to a potential Electronic Brake Booster failure, which can cause loss of power brake assist while driving or using Advanced Driver Assistance Systems features. The issue stems from the EBB motor's sensitivity to voltage disturbances. If a voltage drop occurs and then recovers, a current surge may exceed the system's limits, shutting down the motor. This can trigger warning lights, messages in the instrument cluster, and audible alerts, along with noticeable changes in brake pedal feel. As of July 11, Ford was aware of 37 warranty claims and one low-speed crash potentially related to this issue, but no reports of injuries or fires. The affected vehicles span several popular 2025 models. The recall includes: Ford F-150: 217,969 vehicles Ford Ranger: 20,552 vehicles Ford Bronco: 39,913 vehicles Ford Expedition: 26,582 vehicles Lincoln Navigator: 7,104 vehicles The remedy is a free software update for the EBB module, available over-the-air or through Ford and Lincoln dealers. OTA updates are expected to begin in August, with owner notification letters mailed between August 25 and 29. The faulty component was supplied by Robert Bosch LLC. Affected VINs became searchable as of July 28 Also in July, Ford recalled about 694,000 vehicles due to a risk of fuel injector cracks that could cause fuel leaks and engine fires. The recall affects certain 2021–2024 Bronco Sport and 2020–2022 Escape models. Ford has issued more recalls this year than any automaker ever in a single calendar year, according to The Wall Street Journal. The company attributes the high number to ongoing audits and follow-ups on previous software-based recalls, reflecting its effort to proactively address safety issues. Ford has more than doubled its team of safety experts to improve vehicle quality. As of the end of June, the automaker had announced 88 safety recalls, including a recent one involving 850,000 trucks and SUVs over a potential fuel-pump failure.

Ford recalls 312K vehicles over loss of brake power that can increase crash risk
Ford is recalling over 312,000 US vehicles over a defect with with their brakes that can increase the risk of a crash, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Friday. The issue involves an unexpected voltage disturbance, which may cause a current surge that shuts down a brake booster motor in the vehicle and leads to a loss of braking power, increasing the distance before a complete stop can be reached. Certain 2025 Lincoln Navigator, F-150, Expedition, Bronco and Ranger models are included in the recall. Ford is recalling over 312,000 US vehicles over a loss of brake power assist. Dolores Harvey – The automaker estimates about 1% of 312,120 recalled units have the defect, or about 3,121 cars. 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 Test: Japanese Gladiator
From the April 1994 issue of Car and Driver. Last November at the preview of the new Mustang, Ford revealed that the styling of one of its early mock-ups was inspired by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Mitsubishi now tells us its recent freshening of the 3000GT sports car was inspired by Benkei. Benkei? Is that the cute little Disney dog? Or the naughty Swedish actress? No, says Mitsubishi, this Benkei is a warrior character from Japan's historic Kabuki theater. Oh, that Benkei! We have it on good authority that Benkei was a tough guy—so fierce that when he died of arrow wounds, he was still standing up. Unlike Benkei, Mitsubishi's fierce 3000GT VR4 and its sister ship, the Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo, aren't about to expire anytime soon. But they've been changed this year to make them more ferocious. There's a lengthy list of revisions. For the VR4 model, there's twenty more horsepower and eight more pound-feet of torque on tap. The twin-turbo engine is linked to a new six-speed gearbox, and the brakes have been upgraded with larger discs and twin-piston, aluminum rear calipers. Other changes carry through the 3000GT lineup. There is a new passenger-side airbag, CFC-free air conditioning, and a new Mitsubishi/Infinity audio system. JEFFREY G. RUSSELL | Car and Driver The front of the 3000GT has glass-covered, projector-beam headlamps, replacing the previous pop-up units. Smooth hood bulges have replaced the caps that covered the suspension strut towers, and the car's little air intakes look cleaner. It's a sleek car. But the 3000GT still doesn't remind us of a Japanese warrior—American Gladiator is more like it. If all cars came with the scoops, swoops, and spoilers of the VR4, J.C. Whitney would be out of business. The Benkei treatment turns out to be expensive. While the price of a 3000GT begins at $27,645, the top-line VR4 model starts at $42,253, up 9 percent from last year and a stunning 32 percent more than when the car was introduced three years ago. And that puts it up there with Nissan's 300ZX Turbo at $41,272. A well-optioned Corvette bows at less than $40,000. Mitsubishi has kept its sports car fully competitive. The VR4's roadholding is 0.92 g, and stopping from 70 mph takes 164 feet. The VR4 goes from zero to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds—0.4 second faster than the last VR4 we tested. Top speed is 153 miles an hour. Mitsubishi may know turbochargers better than anyone—it even builds its own. Between 3000 rpm and the 7000 redline, the buffed 3.0-liter V-6 is a paragon of strength and smoothness. Boost lag is barely perceptible at a relaxed pace, and seems to evaporate in fast driving. The driveline is almost as trick. Four-wheel drive is something else in a car with this much power. Few cars can squirt out of corners like the VR4. Despite its confident traction, there's oversteer to play with, owing to the car's 45/55 front-rear torque split and its hydraulically actuated rear steering system. The Getrag gearbox shifts easily, unless you're looking for the new sixth gear, which resides at the end of an awkward jog to the right and back. A minor annoyance remains: each clutch engagement during hurried driving is accompanied by an unseeming thud in the driveline. JEFFREY G. RUSSELL | Car and Driver The VR4's powerful brakes feel more consistent, and resist fade better. The ride could be better, despite the Electronic Control System suspension. With the two-position dash switch set to Touring, the VR4 pounds over bumps. Switch it to the Sport setting and the suspension seems to disappear almost entirely. Despite its prodigious assets, the 3000GT VR4 still falls just shy of thoroughbred status. Blame it on the bane of bean counters and engineers: that elusive "feel." The 3000GT's body is not tight like that of a 300ZX or a Supra, nor are its moves as intuitive. Some of that is the result of the bloodline. The 3000GT VR4 was born from the platform of the old Mitsubishi Galant VR4—a speedy but much less expensive sedan. That car was certainly not a sow's ear, but it wouldn't be our first choice for stud service in conceiving a sports car. Thoroughbred or not, you would have to be an untutored greenhorn to challenge one of these Mitsu 3000s on the street or at the track without having serious firepower of your own. Benkei, you should know, never had much of a sense of humor.
