Hayley Williams On Taylor Swift's Surprise Album Drop: ‘Don't Know When She Made This'
Taylor Swift's surprise announcement of her 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl has even her friend Hayley Williams wondering about when she managed to record it. While speaking on The Zane Lowe Show on Wednesday, Williams reacted to the news and admitted that she had no idea when Swift found the time to create it.
During the interview, host Zane Lowe said to Hayley Williams, 'Your friend [Taylor Swift] is back. It's unbelievable. I mean… you were on that tour with her." He added, 'You saw how hard she worked every single night delivering that experience of a lifetime to fans and then to be like, 'Hey, here's number 12.' What? Are you crazy? This is incredible."
Equally surprised, she said, 'I don't know. I don't know when she made this. I really don't. I have no idea."
Taylor Swift's Album Reveal
Taylor Swift had wrapped her Eras Tour in December 2024 and was enjoying her time with boyfriend Travis Kelce during the NFL off-season before announcing the album. She revealed The Life of a Showgirl during her debut appearance on Travis and his brother Jason Kelce's New Heights podcast. She starts by asking Jason, 'Can I show you something?" He responds, 'Okay. What do we got? We got a briefcase? Mint green, with TS on it," before she opens it to showcase the blurred-out album cover.
Hayley Williams And Taylor Swift's Friendship
As for Hayley Williams, she has been busy with her own music and dropped a surprise collection of 17 singles on August 1. The Paramore singer has always been supportive of Swift's work. After the music sensation released 'The Tortured Poets Department' in April 2024, Williams was quick to praise it on Instagram Stories, writing, 'Had me from the storytelling alone, my friend. Every one of us knows this kind of grief! It's so impressive to me how specific and colorful Taylor's words get without ever losing the universal thread. I'm so ready to be tour-mates."
In a proof of their heartwarming bond, Taylor Swift also brought Williams on stage to sing their vault track Castles Crumbling from Speak Now during a June 2024 show in London.
Speaking to PEOPLE in December 2023, Williams opened up about her friendship with Swift as she recalled, 'Not long after we became friends, she knew I felt awkward going to my ex's wedding, so she tagged along with me, made it fun, and then we ditched the reception to go to the Cheesecake Factory."
Taylor Swift's album is set to drop on October 3.
