Fluance Ri71 Reference powered bookshelf speakers have RCA inputs for connecting a turntable or ... More record player.
The Fluance RT81+ Elite High Fidelity turntable is a follow-up to the classic RT80, adding upgrades including an Audio Technica AT-VM95E cartridge with a bonded elliptical stylus, an acrylic platter mat and rubber isolation feet. If you need a new sound system to make the most of your record collection but space is at a premium, the all new Fluance Ri71 Reference powered bookshelf speakers are capable performers featuring AMT tweeters, 5-inch glass woven drivers and RCA inputs for connecting a turntable (so long as it has a built-in PHONO stage). You can read my Fluance Ri71 Reference first-look here.
KORG Handytraxx Play portable record player
KORG taps into the past with the Handytraxx Play, a portable, battery-powered record player. Six AA batteries are all that's needed to spin your vinyl anywhere you'd like through the Handytraxx Play's built-in 2.5 W speakers. While anyone can enjoy listening to albums or 45s on the go, KORG also includes a wide range of features aimed at DJs, including playback speed adjustment, a beat looper (which gives the ability to layer scratches over a beat loop), filters, a fader and delay effects. An AC adapter is included for times when power is available, and the turntable can also be connected to external speakers.
UK-based MIXX Audio has several new releases that may be of interest.
MIXX Revival 65 portable record player
The MIXX Revival 65 is a take on the suitcase-style portable record player that features a vinyl-friendly Audio-Technica AT3600L moving magnet cartridge, ensuring records sound they way they should and vinyl isn't prematurely worn. Also on tap is Bluetooth streaming (both to the Revival 65 from your smart device and from the record player to external devices like wireless speakers and headphones), built-in stereo speakers, a tonearm lift lever and a faux leather finish in a choice of three colors.
MIXX Analog System 5 mini home audio system
The MIXX Analog System 5 is a complete mini home audio system that pairs the company's Analog 5 turntable with a matching pair of powered, wireless bookshelf speakers. Available in black or white, the system features 50W of power, Bluetooth connectivity (both input and turntable output), optical input, an Audio Technica cartridge mounted on a curved aluminum tonearm, two speed belt-drive and a wireless remote control.

Mixtape sent a sherpa up a mountain to get the rights to use a song, and Grand Theft Auto has "nothing on our toilet paper tech"
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Mixtape is a coming of age story that's a literal mixtape of music, gameplay and art styles. It focuses on three friends spending their last night together, with a perfect mixtape of music to accompany their final adventure as friends. It's also, according to creative lead Johnny Galvatron, got GTA beating toilet paper tech and getting the rights to use one song involved sending someone up a mountain. Wishlist Mixtape on Steam now Mixtape is odd to explain initially but instantly makes sense when you see it in action. "The music is a mixtape and so is the gameplay," says Galvatron. "There's everything from skateboarding to pulling slushies; there's an amazing level where your toilet paper a house. I just have to say, our toilet paper tech is second to none. The way you can toilet paper that house? I'm extremely proud of that. Grand Theft Auto? Nothing on our toilet paper tech." Even without the soundtrack it's an interesting clash of genres with a distinctive art style. But it is all about the music. "On their last night together [three friends] listen to this perfectly curated mixtape, containing music from DEVO, Roxy Music, Lush, The Smashing Pumpkins, Iggy Pop, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, The Cure and many more," he explains. "Through the gameplay, through the music, you relive their finest hours." Getting a soundtrack with such a high pedigree wasn't easy either. "One of the things I enjoyed the most was collating the soundtrack and then getting the wheels in motion for how to get that music," admits Galvatron. "I'm not saying it was The Cure, but we were trying to get a song and one of the people that owned the copyright was up a mountain and we had to send a sherpa to go and find this guy so we could get the rights." (Founding member of The Cure, Lol Tolhurst, we're looking at you.) Mixtape is looking like a cinematic, arty take on the familiar whimsy of growing up, with Galvatron name-checking films like Dazed and Confused, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and even Wayne's World. It's coming '2025' to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X. If you're looking for more excellent games from today's Future Games Show, have a look at our official Steam page.

Billie Eilish Charts Multiple Bestsellers Thanks To The Vinyl Surge
Billie Eilish is one of several musicians fueling the continued surge in vinyl sales around the world, a trend that has now been growing for years. The young singer-songwriter's fans have demonstrated time and time again that they love purchasing her music, especially on wax. This week in the U.K., Eilish once again showcases her popularity on the format, as multiple projects return to the same tally simultaneously, giving her several bestselling vinyl titles. Eilish fills two spots on the Official Vinyl Albums chart in the U.K. this week. Both of her current wins didn't appear on the tally — which ranks the bestselling full-lengths and EPs on wax in the country — just days ago, but both have previously spent time on this roster. The highest of Eilish's two wins is Hit Me Hard and Soft (Isolated Vocals), an a cappella version of her full-length Hit Me Hard and Soft. The project reenters the tally at No. 13. Originally shared for Record Store Day 2024, the album recently became widely available and now appears on this ranking for just the second time ever. As it reappears, it reaches a new all-time high. Eilish's sophomore full-length Happier Than Ever is also a vinyl bestseller once more. This frame, in its seventeenth turn on the list, the rock-leaning project breaks back in at No. 37. Thanks to its widespread availability, Hit Me Hard and Soft (Isolated Vocals) returns to multiple tallies this week, not just the Official Vinyl Albums chart. The set earns a second stay on both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums lists as well, reappearing inside the top 40 and missing its previously set high point by just a space or two. Happier Than Ever, meanwhile, can be found on four other rosters, gaining ground on each of them. The singer's second full-length not only pushes north on multiple sales rankings, but also rises on the Official Albums Streaming chart, which shows that consumption of the music is growing via both purchases and streaming. Eilish's other two full-length projects — When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? and Hit Me Hard and Soft — both find space on four U.K.-based rosters. However, they experience different trajectories than the pair of vinyl bestsellers. Hit Me Hard and Soft declines on all four charts, while her debut is gaining ground on the same quartet of lists.

The queens of collaboration in Lucius are finding themselves again musically
NEW YORK — The magic created by the vocal blend of Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe, collectively known as Lucius, has opened many doors for them in the music industry. Sometimes quite literally — like when they arrived at the home of Joni Mitchell, invited by Brandi Carlile to sing at one of her 'Joni Jams,' and Paul McCartney answered their knock.
