Now both of them are trying to do petty politics in the name of Operation Sindoor', Warring said in a statement on Thursday, pointing out that while the BJP was trying to take political mileage out of it, the AAP was trying to question the success. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several BJP leaders have spoken about Operation Sindoor success, in which the Indian armed forces destroyed nine terror launchpads and killed over 100 terrorists on May 7, at various political events, many opposition parties, including the Congress, have questioned the success of the that the BJP leaders were behaving as if they had physically fought on the border and defeated Pakistan, Warring said, "Operation Sindoor is not Operation Lotus".advertisement'Operation Lotus' is a term often used by the BJP's political opponents to accuse it of horse-trading other parties' legislators to topple governments."We do acknowledge your dirty skills that you employ during Operation Lotus, but please, for the sake of the dignity and glory of our Defence Forces, don't try to lay your claim on their victory for your petty political ends", he said while indirectly addressing the to AAP leader and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reportedly questioning the success of Operation Sindoor, Warring said, "This was quite unfortunate and unbecoming of the Chief Minister, as the whole world has acknowledged that Indian defence forces have dealt a heavy blow to Pakistan".'You have every right and reason to question the BJP's intentions and motives, but dare not question the capability of our defence forces", Warring top Congress leaders like party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, party leaders Jairam Ramesh, and Pawan Khera, among others, have questioned Operation Sindoor's grand old party has also been at loggerheads with its own MP, Shashi Tharoor, who has praised the Modi government for military retaliation on several occasions. "That Shouldn't Be Allowed": Shashi Tharoor's Quip After Son Asks Question In US
Shashi Tharoor made it clear at the outset that the person questioning him at the press conference in New York is his son, Ishan Tharoor, adding with a big smile that "it shouldn't be allowed". Mr Tharoor, leading the all-party delegation on Operation Sindoor, India's diplomatic effort launched to combat terrorism and disinformation following the April 22 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, is in the United States to brief key stakeholders on India's efforts following the deadly attack. It was during one such press conference at the Council of Foreign Relations in New York that Ishan Tharoor got up to ask a question. "You have to stand up. That shouldn't be allowed. This is my son," said Shashi Tharoor with a big smile. "Ishan Tharoor of the Washington Post," the son replied, with a straight face. #WATCH | Washington DC: On a question asked by his son about whether any country had asked the delegation for evidence of Pakistan's involvement in the Pahalgam attack and about Pakistan's repeated denials of any role in the attack, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor says, "I'm very glad… — ANI (@ANI) June 5, 2025 "Definitely asking a question in a personal capacity. And mostly to say hi before you go off to your next engagement," said the Junior Tharoor, who is a foreign affairs columnist at the Washington Post. The columnist son asked his father that as he has been touring countries in the western hemisphere as part of India's diplomatic outreach efforts, have any of your "government interlocutors asked you to show evidence of Pakistan's culpability in the initial attacks". "Well, I'm very glad you raised this, Ishan. I didn't plant it, I promise you. This guy does this to his dad," said the Senior Tharoor, before switching gears to answer the question. "Very simply, no one had any doubt and we were not asked for evidence. But the media have asked in two or three places. Let me say very clearly that India would not have done this without convincing evidence. But there were three particular reasons I want to draw your attention to all of you. The first is that we've had a 37-year pattern of repeated terror attacks from Pakistan, accompanied by repeated denials. I mean, Americans haven't forgotten that Pakistan didn't know, allegedly, where Osama bin Laden was until he was found in a Pakistani safe house right next to an army camp in a cantonment city. That's Pakistan. Mumbai attacks - they denied having anything to do with we know what Pakistan's all about. They will dispatch terrorists, they will deny they did so until they're actually caught with red hands..." said Mr Tharoor.

Woman among 6 held as Amritsar police bust two international drug cartels
Punjab Police claimed to have busted two international narco-trafficking cartels with the arrest of six drug smugglers, including a woman, and recovered 4 kg heroin, director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said on Thursday. The accused have been identified as Vishal Singh, 23, of Guru Ki Wadali village in Amritsar, Didar Singh alias Kali, 50, of Jathaul village in Amritsar, Sevenbir Singh, 25, of Burj Sarai Amant Khan village in Tarn Taran, Harjit Singh, 38, alias Jita of Baba Deep Singh Colony in Amritsar, Jaj Singh, 19, of Mohalla Chetuan in Amritsar and Jasbir Kaur, 60, of Kapatgarh in Amritsar. Police have also impounded a Toyota Innova car, which they were using to deliver drug consignments. DGP Yadav said preliminary investigations have revealed that one module is operated by Sevenbir, who is in direct contact with Pakistan-based smugglers. The latter received heroin consignments and operated under the guise of livestock trade, he said. The DGP said the accused, Jasbir Kaur, is linked to infamous smuggler Ranjeet alias Cheeta's cartel and has links with both Indian and Pakistani smugglers. Amritsar police commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said both modules were busted in an intel-led operation under the supervision of DCP City Jagjit Singh Walia, ADCP-2 Harpal Singh, ACP West Shivdarshan Singh led by Chheharta police station SHO Vinod Sharma. The CP said accused Sevenbir Singh was running the cartel in garb of sale/purchase of goats for the past five years from which he amassed wealth to build a large kothi in his village apart from other property. The accused had been receiving narcotic consignments through drones sent from across the international border. After retrieval he used to hide the contraband in his relatives' home and later distribute it through his associates. Two FIRs – one under Sections 21-C and 27A, and the other under Sections 21-C and 29 of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act have been registered at the Chheharta police station.
