DGCA of Kuwait and Japan Take Off on a New Chapter of Aviation Cooperation

KUWAIT CITY, July 21: Chairman of the Kuwaiti Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Humoud Al-Jaber Al- Sabah said Sunday that the DGCA looks forward to promoting cooperation with Japan in civil aviation. Sheikh Humoud made the remarks while welcoming Japanese Ambassador to Kuwait Kenichiro Mukai to discuss bilateral cooperation in the field of civil aviation, the DGCA said in a press release. He underlined the importance of deepening the distinguished ties between both friendly countries, praising Japan's advanced experience in technology and aviation industry, it said. For his part, the Japanese Ambassador expressed his appreciation to the Kuwaiti official for his hospitality, saying that his country is interested in furthering cooperation with the State of Kuwait in aviation, in a way that contributes to exchanging expertise and achieving integration in the fields that concern both sides. MADRID: Kuwaiti Ambassador in Lisbon Hamad Al-Hazeem discussed academic cooperation with Portugal's leading university, ISCTE, which is ready to welcome Kuwaiti students. Speaking to KUNA on Saturday, the ambassador said he had met with the Portuguese university's vice chairman for international relations Professor Maria Joao Cortinhal and Rector of College of Business Administration Maria de Lurdes Rodrigues, underling the significance of promoting cultural and academic relations between Kuwait and Portugal. He added that the ISCTE is listed among the world's top 50 universities in view of some specialized programs and is internationally well-ranked in business administration. The university, which was established 52 years back, is home to five colleges covering sociology and humanities, business administration, public politics, technology, engineering and digitalization, he said. The Kuwaiti diplomat noted that the Portuguese university is willing to cooperate with Kuwait's National Bureau for Academic Accreditation and Education Quality Assurance (NBAQ) to receive Kuwaiti students. — KUNA

Kuwait Airways reports six pct increase in Q2-‘25 revenues

KUWAIT: Kuwait Airways announced on Friday achieving revenues of USD 324 million in the second quarter of 2025, marking a six percent increase compared to the first quarter. Kuwait Airways Corporation reported operating revenues of USD 285 million in the second quarter of 2025, reflecting a 14 percent increase compared to the first quarter, according to a statement on its official X platform account. The company added that operating expenses declined by USD 19.4 million, representing a 20 percent reduction over the same period. It also noted that the number of departure flights reached 7,063 during second quarter of 2025, marking a nine percent increase compared to the previous quarter, while the total number of passengers transported reached one million. — KUNA
