In 2024, the Indiana Fever broke their seven-year playoff drought by finishing 20-20, good for third in the Eastern Conference and a spot in the first round.
Rookie guard Caitlin Clark exploded onto the scene, averaging 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.4 assists per game and earning All-WNBA First Team honors.

Forward Aliyah Boston continued to cement her two-way reputation with 8.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per contest.
Head coach Christie Sides guided the team to its best win total since 2015, but the Fever were swept in the first round by the Connecticut Sun.
On Wednesday, the Fever's official X account posted a video of the team scrimmaging, accompanied by the caption, 'ball movement leads to an Aliyah Boston bucket 🔥'
Within minutes, fans flooded social media with disbelief and frustration, questioning head coach Stephanie White's choice of competition.
One user commented, "This is who they practice with ?!? Man we cooked 😂," to which another responded, "Damn. Why are we practicing against them ? 😩".

Another commenter said, "Worst male practice players every season. Literally the worst," followed up by one user with, "Love her footwork!" responding to Boston.
Another user agreed, saying, "Effective screening at its best. Go ahead AB! #NowYouKnow 🔥".
One fan said, "Why are the WNBA players forced to practice with HS kids. These are pro women who could compete with the D1 men and one who could make an NBA team. More (expletive) with these fake videos."

Looking ahead to 2025, the Fever welcomed back White, a homecoming that carries high expectations after she won WNBA Coach of the Year in 2023.

The front office also added veteran winners such as six-time All-Star and two-time champion DeWanna Bonner, three-time champion Natasha Howard and sharpshooter Sophie Cunningham via trade.
With All-Stars Clark and Boston now surrounded by playoff-tested talent, early projections slot Indiana to finish near the top of the league standings.

The Indiana Pacers continue to defy their doubters, as they took Game 3 of the NBA Finals by a final score of 116-107 over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Advertisement The Thunder were heavily favored to win the world championship coming into this series, but the Pacers now lead the series 2-1. The Hoosier State is stoked about the very real possibility of the Larry O'Brien Trophy landing there for the first time ever. This is the Pacers' second trip to the NBA Finals and their first since 2000, and fans can almost start to taste the champagne. Indiana Fever stars Caitlin Clark and Aliyah BostonKyle Terada-Imagn Images One of their biggest fans is Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark. She was on hand at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Wednesday for Game 3 along with several of her teammates, and she may be a good luck charm for the Pacers. When she has been in attendance this season, the Pacers have been 8-0. Fans on X reacted to this interesting statistic. Advertisement "That's a cool stat," one fan wrote. "She needs to attend 2 more games," another fan chimed in. "Or maybe it's the spirit of Jim Ursay," a third fan wrote, referring to former Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay, who died a few weeks ago. "CC Effect," a fourth user wrote. "The @NBA saw what the @NFL did with @taylorswift13 and said, 'Hey we can do that with @CaitlinClark22!!' 😂😂😂 #conspiracytheory" a fifth user mused. "Thank you @CaitlinClark22," another fan added. During the regular season, the Pacers finished with the fourth-best record in the Eastern Conference. Many were counting them out as the playoffs started, even though they reached the Eastern Conference finals last year. Advertisement But they knocked out the Cleveland Cavaliers, who finished first with 64 wins, in the second round, and they shoved past the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference finals. Throughout this postseason, they have gotten the job done not only with their potent fast break but also by overcoming late deficits and getting some late-game heroics from Tyrese Haliburton. The Pacers can put a stranglehold on this championship series when Game 4 takes place at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday. WNBA Gets Bad News as Caitlin Clark's Injury Absence Drags On

WNBA Gets Bad News as Caitlin Clark's Injury Absence Drags On originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Women's basketball has undeniably skyrocketed in popularity over the past several years, and there are multiple stars of the game -- both in college and in the WNBA -- who have contributed to that meteoric rise. Advertisement But Indiana Fever point guard Caitlin Clark continues to tower above them all in that regard. WNBA ratings have proven as much since Clark went down against the New York Liberty with a quad injury on May 24. Initial projections had Clark missing at least two weeks. Those have proven correct, as Clark has sat out for the last 18 days and counting. The result of her absence on the league's ratings across the board has been drastic, according to a report from USA Today on Wednesday, June 11. Indiana Fever point guard Caitlin Ruszkowski-Imagn Images "Nationally televised WNBA viewership is down 55% since [Clark's] injury, according to Nielsen," Jeff Zillgitt wrote. "Fever national TV games are down 53% since Clark's injury -- 1,810,000 average viewers before her injury and 847,000 viewers since her injury." Advertisement The Fever have suffered record-wise as well, going 2-3 without Clark in the lineup. Indiana is currently 4-5 on the season. The team next plays on Saturday against the Liberty in Indianapolis. Clark's status for that contest remains undetermined after team doctors reevaluated her injured quad last weekend. Clark has posted 19 points, 9.3 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals in four appearances thus far in 2025. She won the WNBA Rookie of the Year award in 2024 after the Fever made her the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. Clark also earned one of five spots as a First-Team All-WNBA performer last season.
