The Best Summer Hair Trends of 2025, According to Celeb Stylists

Cosmopolitan28-05-2025

In April, I hopped on a seven-hour flight to Berlin to attend a two-day hair festival. And it was exactly as fabulous as it sounds. The first-ever Hair by Schwarzkopf Festival brought together hundreds of hairstylists from around the world to showcase the latest trends and techniques in haircare, color, and styling—I'm talking everything from live dimensional cuts to runways painted with vibrant hair colors.
While I was there, I had the chance to chat with some of the biggest names in the beauty world, including Chris Appleton (Kim Kardashian's longtime hair guy), Jacob Schwartz (the colorist behind Bella Hadid and Sydney Sweeney's blondes), and Tracey Cunningham (whose client list is basically a red carpet in itself—Lindsay Lohan, Lana Del Rey, and more). These A-list stylists gave me a ton of insight into all the hair trends that we'll be seeing everywhere this summer.
So whether you are craving a full-on beauty transformation or just want some low-maintenance hair inspo, these are the summer 2025 hair trends to have on your radar—straight from the pros themselves. And don't forget to click here for our full summer beauty trend report.
'For summer 2025, everyone will be wanting to go blonder and blonder,' says Jacob Schwartz. He's Bella Hadid's hairstylist who just helped her debut her creamy blonde color on the Cannes red carpet, so if there is anyone's opinion on blonde that you can trust, it's most definitely his. 'I also recently did Alix Earle, and made her baby-girl blonde—I think a lot of people are going to be going brighter like that,' adds Schwartz.
Now's the time to embrace body, movement, and full-on dimension. 'We're going through more of a layered season with texture and volume,' says Chris Appleton. And the ideal way to do so? The butterfly cut. It's a hair transformation that frames the face with shorter layers while still keeping a long length throughout.
'I'm seeing a lot of layers and a revival of '90s and 2000s haircuts. Bella [Hadid, casual first name basis] always loves that,' says Schwartz. 'When you're blowing hair out, if it's blunt and straight, you don't really get that same bouncy and voluminous effect as when you have layers put in.'
Enhancing and amplifying your natural hair is a low-lift way to switch things up for summer. 'Getting my clients to look like they have virgin hair is the goal,' says Tracey Cunningham. 'I like to give them whatever hair color naturally suits them."
When it comes to choosing a hair color, there's no one-size-fits-all approach. Appleton tailors his clients' shades 'according to face shape, skin tone, eye color, and so much more.' That might mean dialing up the brightness if you're blonde or embracing your natural undertones if you're brunette. So before committing to a full-on transformation, consider this: your perfect hair color might already be growing out of your scalp.
In the era of glassy nails and high-shine lips, it only makes sense that our hair is getting the drenched treatment too. This summer, we're fully embracing the wet hair movement—whether you've just emerged from the ocean, finished an overly sweaty game of tennis (because who will be able to tell the difference?), or are faking it with some mousse. Salty beach waves, glossy curls, and slicked-back ponies are wet-hair looks that anyone can pull off this summer.
'I love platinum bleach on short pixies and short haircuts,' says Schwartz. And Cunningham single-handedly ignited a cultural phenomenon with the blondes on White Lotus season 3—she was the colorist behind the famous trio. Her work basically defined an entire friend group and fueled the widespread obsession around Leslie Bibb's iconic bob. We think that's pretty freaking worthy of a summer hair trend.
A glossy cuff or sculptural claw clip is the easiest way to elevate any hairstyle. It's basically like taking a plain outfit and throwing on some fun jewelry but for your hair. We're loving everything from seashell-inspired clips, enamel barrettes, and pins that double as accessories.
Our experts are staying loyal to long bangs for summer. 'I think if people want bangs, they should always do them longer,' says Cunningham. They're easy to manage, and the grow-out period over the summer doesn't require trims or upkeep. Whether you're opting for curtain bangs or blunt bangs, having the shortest point at least hit your eyebrow is what the pros are loving on their clients for both style and simplicity.

Foster child turned inspirational speaker's teacher tribute film wins Cannes

From the care system to the red carpet – this powerful new film celebrates the everyday heroes who choose empathy over exclusion Foster child turned inspirational speaker's teacher tribute film wins Cannes MILTON KEYNES, United Kingdom, June 04, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Re-Story Your Life, a short documentary based on the lived experience of multi-award-winning international speaker Jaz Ampaw-Farr, founder of Be Human First Ltd, has received the Programmer's Choice Award at this year's Diversity in Cannes Film Festival which took place from 13 to 24 May 2025. The nine-minute film, directed by Susanna Wright of Nosco Films, is already being hailed as a 'must-see' for educators and changemakers, as it shines a light on the often-invisible acts of compassion that change the trajectory of a child's life. Filmed with raw honesty and poetic clarity, Re-Story Your Life explores how five teachers helped rewrite Jaz's future — from abuse and exclusion in the UK care system to standing ovations on global stages. The win in Cannes not only recognises a powerful piece of filmmaking but also reframes teachers as transformational figures in the wider cultural imagination. Why Now? With schools facing rising pressures and educators leaving the profession in record numbers, Re-Story Your Life lands as both a timely tribute and a rallying cry. It challenges the notion that heroism requires grandeur, instead presenting a powerful truth: sometimes, saving a life looks like showing up. Ampaw-Farr, now one of the UK's most sought-after keynote speakers, has delivered over 3,000 talks to audiences from TEDx to the ExCeL Arena. Her lived experience — from trauma to transformation — makes her voice urgent, authentic, and relatable. As calls for trauma-informed practice and human-first leadership grow louder across sectors, this film meets the moment with clarity and heart. 'I didn't set out to be inspirational — I just wanted to assert educators as everyday heroes,' said Jaz Ampaw-Farr. 'This film is both harrowing and hopeful. It's a love letter to the people who saw past my behaviour and into my potential. The fact that their impact has now been recognised on the world stage? That's everything.' Background Produced by Nosco Films and brought to life by award-winning director Susanna Wright, Re-Story Your Life combines intimate voiceover with striking visuals and archival footage to trace Jaz's journey from a childhood of violence and neglect to becoming a voice for hope and belonging. The film poses a question that echoes long after its final frame: What if one teacher had the power to save your life? The documentary is now being screened at major UK education and leadership events, with private viewings available for trusts, schools, and corporate organisations focused on inclusion and wellbeing. What Next? The Cannes win comes just ahead of the release of Jaz's new book Because of You, This Is Me, launching this month with the UK leg of her book tour at the Inspiring Leadership Conference (12 June) and the Festival of Education (4 July), where her award-winning short film will also be screened. In July, Jaz will be awarded two honorary doctorates — from Hull University (15 July) and Bishop Grosseteste University in Lincoln (30 July) — in recognition of her outstanding contribution to public life and education. She will also debut her first stand-up comedy show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (20 August) as part of The Glitter Challenge, raising funds in honour of the late writer Jo Fletcher Cross. Book Launch:Jaz Ampaw-Farr's debut book Because of You, This Is Me is now available. It will be featured at major education conferences this summer, including the Inspiring Leadership Conference (12 June) and the Festival of Education (4 July), where it will be accompanied by live keynote talks and screenings of the short film Re-Story Your Life. The book is a tribute to the teachers who helped reframe her life story and serves as a rallying cry for those working in education, leadership, and care-experienced communities. Media Availability:Jaz is available for national and international interviews, panel discussions, and guest features across TV, radio, podcasts, and digital media. Key topics include resilience, trauma-informed education, leadership culture, and the power of everyday heroes in shaping lives. Her delivery blends storytelling with humour and hard-won wisdom — ideal for features on BBC Breakfast, The One Show, Woman's Hour, and mainstream press outlets. Upcoming Recognition:In recognition of her contribution to public life and education, Jaz will be awarded two honorary doctorates in July 2025: 15 July – University of Hull 30 July – Bishop Grosseteste University, Lincoln Company Background - Be Human First LtdBe Human First Ltd is a leadership consultancy co-founded by Jaz Ampaw-Farr and her husband, predictive leadership coach Ed Ampaw-Farr. Doc Talk Podcast: Up Close In Cannes With Bono, Mariska Hargitay, Raoul Peck, Eugene Jarecki And Makers Of Shia LaBeouf Film ‘Slauson Rec'

Celebrity and documentary intersected on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival this year with the world premiere of Bono: Stories of Surrender, the film about the U2 frontman directed by Andrew Dominik. The Irish rock star, his wife and two of his kids turned out for the glamorous late-night event on the Croisette, along with Kristen Stewart, Sean Penn, Mariska Hargitay, Imogen Poots, Cannes chief Thierry Frémaux and even the mayor of Cannes. Before the premiere, Deadline's Doc Talk podcast got a chance to visit with Bono to discuss the film, which explores the singer-songwriter's relationship with his father and losing his mother when he was a teenager. Today's edition of the show features our conversation with Bono and makers of other major documentaries that premiered in Cannes, a lineup that includes: More from Deadline 'Bono: Stories Of Surrender': On Irish Fathers & Sons, Processing Family Tragedy & How A Need To Be Heard Propelled A Dublin Kid To Become One Of The World's Biggest Rock Stars What Does The Cannes Film Festival Have Against Documentaries? Demi Moore, 62, Calls Psychic Best Friend Her ‘Greatest Gift'

Demi Moore, 62, Calls Psychic Best Friend Her 'Greatest Gift' originally appeared on Parade. Demi Moore's Oscar-nominated comeback has taken Hollywood by storm, but her longtime friend and psychic, , may have seen it coming all along. 'I've met many who have gifts of this nature, but there are none who have the precision that Laura has,' Moore, 62, told HELLO! 'My greatest gift is the closeness of our friendship and the second is the encouragement she gives me in trusting myself. If I'm uncertain but have an instinct, I have someone who helps me clarify. And most often, it is accurate to me.' Day's intuition paid off when Moore signed on for The Substance, the groundbreaking horror film that earned Moore a standing ovation at Cannes, a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress, and her first-ever Academy Award nomination. 'I've been doing this over 45 years and this is the first time I've ever won anything as an actor,' the actress said during her emotional Golden Globes speech in January. Moore and Day met 37 years ago and have remained close ever since. As noted by HELLO!, Day has helped Moore deepen her intuition, while Moore has pushed Day to bring her psychic work to the public. That dynamic was on display at the star-studded launch for Day's latest book, The Prism: Seven Steps to Heal Your Past and Transform Your Future, held at the Beverly Hills home of super-agent Kevin Huvane. Other guests included Kathy Hilton, Monica Lewinsky, Florence Given, and Moore's daughter, Scout Willis. Reflecting on Moore's recent success, Day called it a 'miracle moment,' telling HELLO!: 'A miracle does take a moment; it's an encounter, it's a tiny change, it's a little bit of help, and you will find your entire life changes.'
