Yogi slams SP regime for neglecting MSMEs
'There were large-scale MSME units here with clusters already present in every district and around every town, but the previous government couldn't grasp its significance,' he said.
Escalating his attack on the Samajwadi Party (SP), the chief minister asked how those whose 'think-ing was limited only to their families' and who 'based their grab for power on dividing the society' could possibly think about future of the state's youth, whose prospects were tied to these very schemes.
Adityanath, who was speaking after inaugurating the CM YUVA Conclave here, alleged that the pre-vious government was part of a conspiracy to shut down the state's MSME industry.
'The hooliganism, corruption and dishonesty of the previous government had forced people to mi-grate,' he asserted.
The chief minister further said that large-scale enterprises were shutting down and the 'distressed' artisans were searching for other work.
Highlighting his government's initiative, Adityanath said, 'We then formed a committee and launched a scheme called the One District One Product (ODOP) after coming to power in 2017. The One District One Product scheme has today become a brand across the country.'

‘UP saw dismantling of criminal network under Yogi in 8 years'
Lucknow: Highlighting the "immense changes" in law and order in the state since the BJP came to power in 2017, a govt spokesperson outlined the condition of Uttar Pradesh before 2017 and now. Following CM Yogi Adityanath's rise to power, the administration initiated a series of decisive actions to dismantle the criminal network that had taken root. Since the BJP came to power, there was a surge in police action against gangsters, seizure of illegal properties, and court trials were fast-tracked. There was a crackdown on unlawful religious conversions and the drug mafia. This, said the official, saw a sharp decline in criminal activity. "Under its zero-tolerance policy on crime, the state govt over the past eight years has seen over 240 dangerous criminals being killed in police encounters. During this time, the police carried out more than 15,000 encounters, arresting over 30,000 criminals. More than 9,000 criminals were injured in these operations," said the official. The govt cracked down on illegal properties of criminals, which broke the backbone of the mafia network and boosted public trust in the govt. As per govt data, illegal assets worth more than Rs 14,200 crore were seized or destroyed over the past eight years. Under 'Operation Conviction', about 1 lakh criminals have been convicted so far, which includes nearly 10,000 criminals sentenced to life imprisonment for crimes like rape, murder, and organised crime. Another 68 criminals have been sentenced to death. On average, courts are resolving 143 cases daily and punishing 187 criminals each day thanks to strong legal efforts, the official added. To crack down on the illegal drug trade, the govt has carried out large-scale operations, which include raids on fake liquor factories and inter-state mafia networks. Illegal liquor has been destroyed, and thousands of smugglers were arrested. An Anti-Narcotics Task Force was also set up, which has helped in the recovery of illegal drugs worth over Rs 2,737 crore and the registration of more than 30,000 cases. The govt went all out against illegal conversions, passing the UP Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act, 2021, under which hundreds of people have been arrested, and several organised conversion rackets have been busted, claimed the official, citing the recent crackdown on Jalaluddin alias Changur, a key accused in an illegal religious conversion network. The state govt's policy, which the CM reiterates publicly at every occasion, is that a criminal will either be in jail in UP or out of the state.

Passenger's big headload fell on others, led to stampede in Delhi: Vaishnaw
A BIG headload being carried by a passenger fell on others, causing the stampede at the New Delhi Railway Station on February 15 in which 18 people were killed, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the Rajya Sabha Friday, citing a probe report. He said that a high-level inquiry committee constituted to examine the circumstances leading to the stampede has submitted its report. 'As per the findings of the report, an unfortunate incident on 15.02.25 happened on Foot Over Bridge (FOB)-3 stairs connecting Platform 14/15 at New Delhi Railway Station. On the day of the incident, sufficient crowd management protocols were in place to handle the overall volume of passengers at the station. There was a gradual increase of passenger density on the FOB after 20.15 hrs,' said Vaishnaw in a written reply to questions asked by Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman. Passengers were trying to board Prayagraj-bound trains for the Mahakumbh when the incident occurred. Sharing the findings of the probe report, Vaishnaw said, 'Many of the passengers were carrying big headloads affecting smooth movement on the FOB. There was a big headload falling from one of the passengers and the pressure was passed on to the stairs of PF 14/15 stairs resulting in the tripping of passengers on the stairs. This led to an incident at 20.48 hrs on FOB-3, which was limited to the stairs of FOB. Consequently, passengers fell on each other. In the incident, 18 people lost their lives and 15 others were injured.' In March this year, the Railway Minister had told the Lok Sabha that on the day of the stampede the total ticket sold was 49,000 – 13,000 more than the daily average tickets sold over the previous six months. Of the 18 people who died in the stampede, 11 were women and four children. Eyewitnesses had alleged that the stampede took place because of 'lack of crowd management' at a time when a large number of people were trying to board the Prayagraj-bound trains. Following the incident, five senior officers, including the Divisional Railway Manager of Delhi, were transferred. In his written reply on Friday, Vaishnaw said that several measures have been taken after the incident to handle heavy rush at the stations. A total of 73 stations have been identified where permanent holding areas will be created. Pilot projects have started at New Delhi, Anand Vihar, Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Ghaziabad stations. 'Two new designs of 12 metre wide (40 feet) and 6 metre wide (20 feet) standard FOB have been developed. These wide FOBs with ramps were very effective in crowd management during Mahakumbh. These new standard wide FOBs will be installed in all the stations. All major stations will have a senior officer as Station Director. All other departments will report to the Station Director. Station Director will get financial empowerment so that he can take on-the-spot decisions for improving the station,' the minister said. Yogi Adityanath calls for result-driven UP footwear & leather policy to unlock its full potential
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday reviewed the draft of the Uttar Pradesh Footwear, Leather and Non-Leather Sector Development Policy, 2025, and underlined the need for making the document practical and result-driven to unlock its full potential. Chairing a meeting of the MSME Department, the CM instructed officials to adopt a cluster-based development model as a core strategy and emphasised the importance of identifying regions best suited for industry-specific development. Highlighting the state's strong base — skilled artisans, raw materials, and industrial hubs like Agra, Kanpur, and Unnao, he said integrated production, design, research, and training on a single platform will attract large-scale investments. The Chief Minister stressed the need to develop key infrastructure like flatted factory complexes to offer modern, efficient work spaces for industrial units. He was informed by officials that the proposed policy could generate around 22 lakh new jobs in the coming years — marking a potential turning point in Uttar Pradesh's rise as a global hub of footwear and leather manufacturing. Currently, India ranks as the second-largest producer and consumer in the world in the footwear and leather sector, with Uttar Pradesh playing a significant role. Over 200 operational tanneries are located in Kanpur and Unnao, while Agra is recognised as the 'Footwear Capital' of the country. The Chief Minister emphasised that the policy should not only promote leather and non-leather footwear manufacturing units, but also extend special incentives to ancillary units producing components like buckles, zips, soles, insoles, laces, dyes, chemicals, heels, threads, tags, and labels. He also stressed support for units manufacturing specialised machinery for leather stitching, cutting, moulding, and production of non-leather safety shoes. This integrated approach, he said, would help establish a complete and localised 'design-to-delivery' ecosystem within the state. He highlighted the need for robust strategies for skilling, packaging, and marketing to enhance product quality and competitiveness. The meeting also included a discussion on the proposed Uttar Pradesh Industrial Asthan Policy. Officials noted several challenges in the current system, including inefficient land utilisation, lease execution complexities, unauthorised mortgaging and subletting and idle plots. The new policy aims to eliminate these hurdles by introducing a transparent, streamlined, and time-bound system, it was informed. Plot allotment will be conducted via e-auctions or other transparent methods, with land prices determined area-wise. However, land rates for anchor units will be set by the state government, they said. Calling the proposed policy 'practical and forward looking,' the Chief Minister said, 'A clear, simplified and accountable process — from land allotment to lease execution, construction, and production—would provide confidence to investors and catalyze industrial growth.' He also suggested the adoption of a 'lease rent model' to ensure optimal utilisation of limited industrial land, minimise capital expenditure for investors, and accelerate development. To promote private industrial parks, the CM advocated for incentives such as capital subsidies, stamp duty exemptions, and electricity and logistics support, along with a single-window approval system. He directed the officials to develop an integrated online portal for applications and disbursement of incentives to ensure a fully digital, seamless, and trackable policy implementation process.
