MSC Cruises unveiled the MSC World America on April 9. The ship, the largest in company history, will call PortMiami home, at a sleek new terminal unveiled a few days earlier.

First, let's grab a slice of pizza and a burger on the promenade level. Then let's shop at a gallery featuring cosmetics and fragrances from Chanel, Tom Ford, even Marc Anthony. Now let's gather at Jean-Philippe Maury's specialty chocolate and coffee cafe
MSC World America has 2,614 staterooms that can accommodate a total of 6,762 guests. It has 2,138 crew members. The ship offers a range of rooms, from simple studios to 'luxurious Owner's Suites. The suites come with a private, two-level sundeck, a private bar and restaurant, and comprise the 'MSC Yacht Club' area of the ship.
The MSC World America features seven distinct 'districts,' following a 'ship within a ship concept.' Some areas cater to families, another on 'tranquil zen.' Then there is the bustling promenade.
The vessel also has an outdoor World Promenade with restaurants, ocean views and LED light shows. An indoor World Galleria brims with bars and shops.
The new ship is the carrier's first that's 'tailored specifically to the U.S. market,' according to the company, whose ships are popular among vacationing Europeans.
MSC World America travel itineraries
Following a naming ceremony with actress Drew Barrymore, MSC World America set off for a three-night inaugural trip to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, the cruise company's private island in the Bahamas.
Once it's in regular travel mode, MSC World America trips will go to the Eastern Caribbean or Western Caribbean. The eastern trips will sail to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, and San Juan, Puerto Rico, and the western to Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico and Roatan, Honduras. Both will go to Ocean Cay. Trips will span 7 to 14 days.

China exports growth misses expectations despite tariff truce; imports plunge amid weak consumption
China's exports growth missed expectations in May, despite a temporary trade truce with the U.S. that prompted businesses to frontload shipments and capitalize on the 90-day pause on steep duties. Exports rose 4.8% last month in U.S. dollar terms from a year earlier, customs data showed Monday, shy of Reuters' poll estimates of a 5% jump. Imports plunged 3.4% in May from a year earlier, a drastic drop compared to economists' expectations of a 0.9% fall. Imports had been declining this year, largely owed to sluggish domestic demand. Exports had surged 8.1% in April as a jump in shipment to Southeast Asian countries offset a sharp drop in outbound goods to the U.S. Chinese shipment to the U.S. plunged over 21% in April, as prohibitive tariffs kicked in. U.S. President Donald Trump's prohibitive 145% tariffs on Chinese goods took effect in April, with Beijing retaliating with triple-digit duties and other restrictive measures, such as export controls on critical minerals. U.S. and China struck a preliminary deal in Geneva, Switzerland, last month that led both sides to drop a majority of tariffs. Washington's levies on Chinese goods now stand at 51.1% while Beijing's duties on American imports are at 32.6%, according to think tank Peterson Institute for International Economics. The temporary tariff ceasefire is expected to have triggered a renewed surge in trade as exporters and importers alike in China and the U.S. seek to frontload shipments, sending shipping costs soaring. Chinese Vice Premier and lead trade representative He Lifeng is expected to meet with the U.S. trade negotiation team led by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in London later in the day for renewed trade talks. The second-round of meetings come after tensions flared up again between the two sides, as they accused each other of violating the Geneva trade agreement. Washington had blamed Beijing for slow-walking its pledge to approve the export of additional critical minerals to the U.S., while China criticized the U.S. decision to impose new restrictions on Chinese student visas and additional export restrictions on chips. China's Ministry of Commerce said on Saturday that it would continue to review and approve applications for export of rare earths, citing growing demand for the minerals in robotics and new energy vehicle sectors.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) slammed Sen. Lindsey Graham's (R-S.C.) push for Russian sanctions, calling his bill 'self-defeating economic warfare.' Graham's sanctions bill on Russia would impose a 500 percent tariff on imports from any country that buys Russian oil, gas, uranium and other products. The legislation has more than 80 co-sponsors in the Senate, potentially making it veto-proof. But GOP senators are waiting on President Trump to move ahead with the legislation, and Trump said this week he hasn't even looked at it. Trump has also said he doesn't want to undermine the chances of a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine. Paul, in a series of posts on X on Saturday, said the bill would be ineffective and backfire against efforts to achieve peace, as the war between Russia and Ukraine continues in its fourth year. 'The Graham bill would derail President Trump's efforts to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine. Self-defeating economic warfare is no way to achieve peace,' Paul said on X. 'This bill won't force China or India to change behavior, but it will impose an effective embargo on ourselves that will hurt American families,' he said. Paul also argued that the bill could hurt U.S. allies and raise gas prices. 'The Graham bill could raise tariffs on allies like Israel and Taiwan to 500 percent and potentially even higher. Why are we punishing our friends while pretending it'll hold Russia accountable? This isn't strategy—it's economic self-sabotage,' he wrote. 'Cutting off Russian oil takes a major source of supply off the market, resulting in higher gas prices. Analysts warned that a U.S. ban on Russian oil could cause prices to hit $160–$200 a barrel. That's $5+ gas at the pump,' he said. Graham, this past week, sought to address some of those concerns by proposing a carveout for his bill to exempt countries that aid in Ukraine's defense. The carveout could help insulate countries in Europe that still import Russian gas and have provided military support for Ukraine, as well as other U.S. partners that have straddled the line between maintaining ties with Moscow and providing assistance to Kyiv. 'A lot of countries still buy Russian oil and gas but less. Some European countries still have relationships with Russia, but they've been very helpful to Ukraine. So I want to carve them out,' Graham told reporters Wednesday. 'I tell China, if you don't want to have a 500 percent tariff, help Ukraine.'
