Girl from Jain community goes missing in Karnataka's Kalaburagi, love jihad suspected after police found...
A B.Sc student has gone missing in Karnataka's Kalaburagi district, and now her family and a Hindu group are claiming it could be a case of 'love jihad'. The girl belongs to the Jain community and was studying at a private college. She disappeared on June 30 after going to give her exam but never came back home. Her parents have filed a missing complaint at Gulbarga University Police Station, and the police are investigating the case.
During the initial investigation, the police found out that the girl had been chatting with a boy named Mashaq from Gobbara village. After finding out about their conversations, the girl's parents had stopped her from going to regular classes. They only allowed her to attend exams.
Now, the police suspect that the girl might have run away with Mashaq.
Mahaveer Jain, the father of the missing girl, said that even after eight days, the police have not taken any strong steps to find his daughter. 'They still haven't found her. I believe this is a case of 'love jihad'. My daughter's life is destroyed,' he said.
Laxmikanth Savadi from the Hindu Jagruthi Vedike also showed anger over the situation.
'It's been eight days since she disappeared, and the police haven't acted. Mashaq, the main suspect, and two others are said to be targeting young girls from Hindu and other communities in the area. If no action is taken soon, we won't stay quiet,' he warned.
The police have filed a missing person report and are looking into the case. This incident may cause serious debate and tension in the region.

Maharashtra: Eight Arrested for Beating 21-Year-Old Muslim Man to Death Over ‘Closeness With Hindu Girl'
The men, whom some reports identify as members of a Hindutva group, also assaulted Suleman Pathan's mother and sister when they tried to come to his rescue. New Delhi: A 21-year-old Muslim man in Maharashtra was paraded and beaten to death and his family members assaulted when they attempted to save him over suspicion that he was close to a 17-year-old Hindu girl, reports say. Some of the reports have identified the accused as members of a Hindutva group. Indian Express has reported, quoting police, that eight people have been arrested from around Jalgaon since the incident took place on August 11. It is not known which sections have been invoked against them. Four who were arrested on August 12 are Abhishek Rajkumar Rajput (22), Ghanshyam alias Suraj Bihari Lal Sharma (25), Deepak Bajirao (20) and Ranjat alias Ranjit Ramkrishna Matade (48). Four more who were arrested on August 13 are Aditya Devade, Krishna Teli, Shejwal Teli and Rishikesh Teli, all in their mid-20s. Suleman Rahim Khan Pathan, of the Chhoti Betawad village, was attacked after he was seen with a Hindu woman from the same village at a cafe in Jamner, a relative named Abdullah Pathan told Scroll. He told the outlet that Suleman had left home for Jamner to fill a police recruitment form, but said he did not know anything about the girl. This cafe was just metres from the local police station, reported Maktoob Media. The Indian Express report quoted a policeman as having said that 8-10 people showed up and began checking his mobile phone after snatching it from him. Once intercepted, reported Maktoob, Suleman was dragged into a vehicle, driven to three or four different spots, and repeatedly assaulted before being brought back to his village for the fatal attack. When Suleman's parents and sister tried to rescue him, the men assaulted them as well, the police officer quoted by Indian Express said. Suleman's father Rahim was quoted by the newspaper as having said that his 80-year-old father – Suleman's grandfather – was also punched and kicked when he tried to step in. Eventually, Suleman lost consciousness. After the accused left him for dead, villagers took him a hospital in a bike. The hospital, reported Scroll, refused to admit him as it did not have the specialisation needed to treat him. The family then took him to a civil hospital, where he was declared dead at 4.30 pm. Suleman's father has said that the story of him and the girl having been in a relationship was entirely concocted. 'There was not a single inch on my son's body without wounds. They left him battered. When we ran to save him, they turned their violence on me, my wife, and my daughter. Suleman was my only son. I will not rest until the culprits face the harshest punishment the law can give, exactly for what they did to him,' Rahim told Maktoob. Former AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jaleel has been among those to post about the incident on X. He wrote: "Another case of mob lynching. 20 year old college student beaten to death in front of his parents and sister by goons in a villlage in Jamner taluka, Jalgaon on Monday afternoon. Suleman khan was attacked on the charge that he was talking to a girl from another community. Police now pressurising family to do last rites while family is demanding arrests of all accused. Request Jalgaon @JalgaonPolice to take strictest action against the culprits. @DGPMaharashtra @Devendra_Office." Another arrest made for 'attack' on policemen during Nabanna Avijan
Kolkata: Another person was arrested in connection with the alleged attack on policemen during Nabanna Avijan in Kolkata, police said on Thursday. The arrest was made on Wednesday night. The person has been identified as Manas Chandra Saha, who hails from Naihati in the North 24 Parganas district. According to police sources, evidence has been found that the accused is directly involved in the incident of throwing a police constable on the road and beating him on August 9. On Tuesday, the Kolkata Police made the first arrest in this case. A 40-year-old man named Chandan Gupta was arrested in this case. His house is also in the North 24 Parganas district. Chandan, a resident of Jagaddal, was arrested at the junction of BB Ganguly Street and Bentinck Street in Kolkata. There are multiple charges against the arrested person, including attempt to murder, obstructing a government servant from doing his duty, and intentionally causing injury. Chandan was produced in the Bankshall court on Wednesday, where the judge sent him to police custody till August 15. However, Manas' political identity is not yet known. "He will be produced in a court today. We will investigate further into the case after taking him into our custody," said a senior police officer. The first anniversary of the ghastly rape and murder of a woman junior doctor of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9 was marred by massive violence following a scuffle between cops and protesters participating in the Nabanna Avijan. The victim's mother alleged that she was beaten up by the policemen after she, along with her husband and other protesters, tried to march towards Nabanna. The victim's mother and the BJP leaders alleged that in the police action, the sacred conch shell-bangle on her wrist, traditionally believed to be the symbolic representation of married Hindu women, was broken. Meanwhile, five policemen were injured in the scuffle with protesters. A case was registered at the New Market police station in connection with the "attack" on policemen.

Hand over Gavisiddappa's murder case to NIA: BJP
BENGALURU: BJP state president BY Vijayendra has demanded that the state government entrust the murder case of Hindu activist Gavisiddappa Nayak to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). BJP members also created ruckus for sometime over the issue. Vijayendra, who raised the issue during Zero Hour on Wednesday, said Gavisiddappa was in a relationship with a girl from another community. The person from the girl's community had posted a photo of the weapon on his social media a day before killing him in Koppal on August 3. 'But the police did not take any action. Only after there were protests and a bandh was called, the accused were arrested after three days,' he said. On Wednesday, BJP members also handed over a memorandum to Governor Thawaarchand Gehlot urging him to direct the state government to hand over the probe to the NIA. The BJP delegation also sought the governor's approval to prosecute and initiate an investigation against Energy Minister KJ George in the alleged smart meter tender scam. They alleged that George, in collusion with Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) officials, committed numerous violations in the smart meter tender.
