8 women booked for ‘disrobing, molesting' Mumbai teen over suspicion of openly discarding sanitary pads

Mumbai police Tuesday booked eight women for allegedly disrobing and molesting a 13-year-old girl in their neighbourhood over a suspicion that she was discarding sanitary pads openly in the backyard of their Borivali building.
The accused women reportedly barged into the girl's house, disrobed her, and abused her and her mother.
According to the police, the incident occurred in March at the staff quarters of the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) in Borivali, but the girl's family filed the complaint recently.
As per the police complaint filed by the girl's mother, four women living in their building barged into their house along with four other unknown women.
The accused were angry and said they suspected that the complainant's daughter was dumping used sanitary pads and undergarments in the backyard of their society.
They abused the woman and her teenage daughter and, in a bid to check her undergarment, they pulled her forcefully, disrobed her, and also inappropriately touched her, the complainant alleged in the First Information Report (FIR).
They are also accused of having used vulgar language while abusing the mother-daughter duo.
A police officer from Borivali said the complainant's family has had a longstanding dispute with the families of the accused over the allotment of rooms at the BEST staff quarters.
The accused women have filed several grievances against the complainant's family with the BEST administration over this dispute, the police said.
'Earlier, the complainant woman filed a police complaint against the same set of accused women over the disrobing incident but withdrew it later. As she filed a complaint again, we recorded her statement and booked all eight women on Tuesday. No arrest has been made yet, and the probe is on,' said an officer from Borivali police station.
The eight women have been booked under sections 74 (criminal force with intent to outrage her modesty), 76 (criminal force to a woman with intent to disrobe), 79 (words intended to insult the modesty of a woman), and 329(4) (criminal trespassing) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and sections 8 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.

The 30-year-old rape survivor was in Udaipur for the same shoot. According to the first information report (FIR) registered on the woman's complaint, she arrived in Udaipur on June 22 and was at a cafe with her friends on June 23 (Monday evening) when Ojha allegedly approached her. According to the FIR, the accused dropped her off at the hotel at 6am on Tuesday. Udaipur superintendent of police (SP) Yogesh Goyal said the accused fled Udaipur on Tuesday morning after he allegedly raped the woman on Monday night. 'Prima facie, the victim had been working for several Indian brands as a background dancer and actor for a long time. She came to Udaipur on Sunday to shoot for a leading electronics brand. Siddharth was part of the same crew,' he added. As he was being taken away by the police, Ojha insisted that he was being framed. 'I didn't rape her… It's a conspiracy that has been hatched against me by some industry people as I am an outsider. I was going to surrender only when the police picked me up today,' he said. Badgaon police station house officer (SHO) Pooran Singh said the FIR was registered under Section 64 (1) (rape) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on the woman's complaint after she reached the hotel. MCOCA case: Delhi High Court seeks police reply on former MLA Naresh Balyan bail plea

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday (June 25, 2025) directed the police to respond to the bail plea of former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Naresh Balyan, who is arrested in a MCOCA case. Justice Manoj Jain issued notice to Delhi Police on his bail plea and posted the hearing on July 3, 2025. The High Court also asked the superintendent of jail to send Naresh Balyan's nominal roll and a report on his medical status as the accused has also sought interim bail on health grounds. It directed the State to file an updated status report in the matter. Senior advocate Sunil Dalal, representing Naresh Balyan, submitted his client was arrested in the MCOCA case on December 4, 2024, the day a trial court granted him bail in an alleged extortion case, and has been in custody since then. Balyan had previously withdrawn the bail plea from the high court after the police filed a charge sheet in the case. He moved the trial court seeking bail, but faced rejected on May 27. Balyan's counsel had previously argued there was 'no shred of evidence' against him and the case was 'completely frivolous' while claiming that the FIR did not even mention Balyan's name. 'Balyan himself raised a complaint against the crime,' he added. Delhi HC transfers MCOCA case involving AAP MLA from Dwarka to Rouse Avenue court The Delhi Police counsel opposed the bail plea saying like Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, there was a bar on granting bail to an accused under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) unless certain conditions, including reasonable grounds to show the accused did not commit the crime were met which was not the case here. Claiming there was a "continuous unlawful activity" to sustain invocation of MCOCA against Balyan, the special counsel for police had said no relief could be given to him. Balyan was accused of being a "facilitator" in an organised crime syndicate. On January 15, a trial court denied bail to Balyan before which Delhi Police opposed Balyan's bail plea, claiming the investigation was at a crucial stage in the case, he accused could hamper the probe if allowed the reprieve. The prosecutor had cited 16 FIRs lodged against the alleged syndicate members in various parts of Delhi and claimed it "created havoc in the society and has amassed huge illegal wealth". On January 29, the trial court had even refused to release him on custody parole to enable him to "guide" his wife who was contesting the Assembly polls in February 2025.

RTI activist arrested on charge of bid to extort Rs20L

Kolhapur: A 43-year-old RTI activist has been arrested for allegedly attempting to extort Rs20 lakh from a CPR Hospital staffer to prevent her arrest in a forgery case involving her husband. The accused, Jayraj Bhimrao Koli, allegedly demanded the amount from the woman, whose husband, Ajinkya Anil Patil, a medical supplier, was earlier arrested for forging documents to secure a supply contract with the hospital. Despite the woman having ended her contract with the hospital in March, Koli continued to harass her, the police said. Koli allegedly threatened the couple to stop pursuing the woman's arrest.
