Matteo Michels Commits To Vermont
Brandon Wheat Kings forward Matteo Michels has committed to Vermont, it was announced earlier this week. Hailing from Colleyville, Texas, Michels just finished his fourth season in the WHL and first full year with the Wheat Kings, putting up 20 goals and 35 assists for 55 points in 68 regular season games. With the Wheat Kings having made the playoffs, Michels got into five playoff games, collecting three goals in the process. Drafted by the Regina Pats in the first round of the 2020 WHL US Prospect Draft, Michels played in 230 career regular season games throughout his junior career, scoring 39 goals and adding 59 assists for 98 points. Before making his way out west, Michels played his minor hockey with Bishop Kearney Selects and the Dallas Stars. With Michels joining the Catamounts this fall, they will be getting someone who has the ability to score goals and make plays whenever he has the puck in the offensive zone. Capable of finding teammates in open ice, even under pressure, Michels has what it takes to be a difference maker.

Binghamton Bearcats Softball tops America East and heads to NCAA Tournament
VESTAL, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Binghamton Bearcats softball team went into the America East Tournament as the #1 seed, having not lost a game, and they didn't disappoint. In the second round, following a first-round BYE, the team knocked off Bryant in nine innings, then met up with UMBC. The Bearcats took down the Retrievers and then faced off with the Bulldogs once again, whom they topped 10-3, and became the America East Champions. The Bearcats are now heading to the NCAA Tournament. They have one of the longest trips, playing in the Eugene Regional in Oregon, facing the Stanford Cardinal. The other two teams in the Regional are the Oregon Ducks, the hosts, and the Weber State Wildcats. This is the first time Binghamton has made it to the NCAA Tournament since 2015. Binghamton Bearcats Softball prepares for AE Tournament; Sweep Conference Honors
VESTAL, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – After being co-regular season champs last season and coming up short of the America East Championship, the Binghamton Bearcats Softball team dominated the competition this season, going 16-2 in the AE, and head into the tournament as the 1 seed. The team went 33-12 in the regular season and currently sits on a 7-game win streak. They are 9-1 at home, with their only loss at the Sports Complex being to out-of-conference Cornell. The team's conference losses came to the 2 seed, UMBC, in late March. They kick off their America East Tournament run on Thursday at 11 am, as they have a first-round bye, where they'll either face Bryant or UMass Lowell, which will be found out on Wednesday. 'I think that we knew right from the start of the fall that this was going to be a special team,' said Head Coach Jess Bump. 'They followed through and did everything that we were expecting them to do.' The tournament is hosted at the Bearcats Softball Complex. After the America East released the all-conference teams for 2025 on Tuesday afternoon, it was all headlined by Binghamton. Sophomore catcher and Groton native Elisa Allen was named Player of the Year in the conference. Junior Brianna Roberts got the nod for Pitcher of the Year. Rookie of the year was given to freshman Rachel Carey, and Head Coach Jess Bump repeated as Coach of the Year. The Bearcats are the first softball program in the America East ever to sweep all four major awards outright.
