Awareness programme held on World Human Trafficking Day
As part of the awareness efforts, members of the Youth Club also participated in the Special Drive on Child Trafficking conducted by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) from July 15 to 30.
Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) A Krishna Prasad, who enlightened participants on the laws and punishments related to human trafficking and instructed the police to keep vigilant over this social evil.
ICDS PD Vimala Rani, Women police station DSP D Govinda Rao and others have stated that human trafficking is a major challenging to the law enforcement departments and some gangs are trafficking minors and juveniles and putting them in unlawful, unethical activities.
SDV Prasad, Deputy Commissioner of Labour said that they are working on eradication of child labour and continuously conducting surprise checks on hotels, companies.
M Prasad Rao, Project Director of Youth Club Bejjipuram, stated that the NGO has been working closely with government departments to address child labour, child trafficking, and child marriages. He added that in recent efforts, 26 trafficked children were identified and presented before the District Child Welfare Committee (CWC) with the support of the District Child Protection Unit and the Child line team.

23 Palamu undertrials ‘enlarged on bail'
Daltonganj: Twenty-three undertrial prisoners (UTP) were 'enlarged on bail' between July 15 and 30 from their respective trial courts in Palamu, following recommendations by an undertrial review committee (UTRC). UTRC comprises the principal district and sessions judge, deputy commissioner, superintendent of police, jail superintendent, and secretary of the district legal services authority (DLSA). The secretary of the Palamu DLSA, Rakesh Ranjan, said, " A total of 24 cases of the undertrials lodged in the Daltonganj central jail were taken up during the July 15 meeting of the UTRC. Twenty-three were enlarged on bail, while one case is pending." The cases pertained to the undertrials, who have served half of the maximum period of punishment specified for the offence for which they were sent to judicial custody, he added. The Daltonganj central jail has on an averageover 900 prisoners, out of which the number of undertrials is 34%. Court sources said the UTRC tries to help decongest the jail by shedding off the eligible undertrials to walk out on bail. Court sources said that if anyone 'jumps bail', then he/she will face serious consequences of various nature.

1 2 Pune: The court of additional sessions judge Sucheta Takalikar on July 31 convicted and sentenced a 34-year-old domestic LPG cylinder delivery agent to five years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and fined him Rs3,000 for sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl at her residence in 2019. The court also sentenced the accused to one year of RI and fined him Rs2,000 on the charge of molesting the survivor. The accused will have to undergo additional imprisonment of one month and of 15 days if both fines, respectively, are not deposited. The sentences awarded to the accused will run concurrently. The Udaipur police have lodged an FIR after some men allegedly tried to dupe and mislead the family members of Vardi Chand Menaria, who lost his life in the Air India flight AI 171 to London which crashed moments after taking off in Ahmedabad on June 12. The men, allegedly posing as representatives of the central government and a Supreme Court lawyer, claimed that they would get the family Rs 8-10 crore compensation, and pressured them to sign certain documents. While the incident is from July 18-19, the FIR was lodged on July 29 on the directions of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA). It has been lodged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita section 329 (3) for 'criminal trespass', which carries a maximum imprisonment of up to three months and a fine of Rs 5,000. In his complaint, Menaria's son Deepak Menaria said that on the evening of July 17, he received a call from a person who identified himself as one Bhupendra, saying that he will come for verification on behalf of the central government. 'I was told that a team from Delhi and Mumbai will come to my house and 'secret verification' will be done, so for this, a copy of my late father's passport and ticket will be needed. They tried to lure me saying that if I file a case against Boeing, I will get Rs 8-10 crore,' he wrote in his complaint. Deepak alleged that the Station House Officer of Vallabh Nagar police station did not lodge an FIR, saying that he should collect it from the SP's office since he had already lodged a complaint there. He claimed an FIR was lodged only after he approached the DLSA. Udaipur Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal said that, 'An FIR has been lodged. As per the primary inquiry, some advocates and some locals wanted (the family) to become their client and file a case against the airline. They wanted to take their consent, as per the initial investigation. However, the family says that they were persisting on a regular basis.'
