Kamal Haasan, Ayushmann Khurrana Among 534 Global Talents Invited To Join Oscars Academy

Last Updated: Kamal Haasan and Ayushmann Khurrana join Ariana Grande, Jeremy Strong as Oscar Academy invitees from 60+ countries. Indian cinema icons Kamal Haasan and Ayushmann Khurrana have been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the prestigious body behind the Oscars. They are part of an illustrious group of 534 individuals from around the world, including global names like Ariana Grande, Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Strong, Fernanda Torres, Kieran Culkin and Mikey Madison. This diverse and talented group has been recognised for their remarkable contributions to the world of filmmaking and storytelling. The Academy revealed that this year's invitees represent 60 countries and territories outside the United States, continuing its efforts to globalise and diversify its membership. 'We are thrilled to welcome this esteemed class of artists, technologists and professionals into the Academy," said Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang. 'This year's class embodies the diversity and global breadth of today's film community, and their inclusion will continue to enrich the Academy's mission and work." Invitees who accept the invitation will become part of one of the Academy's 19 branches or will be enrolled as Associates — a special membership tier for those who've made significant industry contributions but won't hold Oscar voting rights. Kamal Haasan, a veteran actor and filmmaker with decades of groundbreaking work across Indian cinema, was last seen in Thug Life, directed by Mani Ratnam. Despite high expectations, the film received mixed reviews and its box office performance was underwhelming. Critics pointed out a lacklustre narrative and weak character development. Ayushmann Khurrana, known for his content-driven choices, is currently working on two exciting projects. He'll be seen next in Thama, a romantic horror comedy from the Maddock Horror Universe, releasing in October 2025. He's also filming an untitled spy comedy opposite Sara Ali Khan, produced by Karan Johar and directed by Aakash Kaushik. First Published:
